The Spring Season: Chanel Ming Rouge Allure Laque
The Spring Season: Chanel Ming Rouge Allure Laque
Chanel Ming Rouge Allure Laque ($32.00) is a soft, slightly milky neutral (maybe even a little yellow-toned) pink with subtle pink and light gold shimmer with a glossy shen. Rouge Allure Laques are kind of like liquid lipstick, but they still have a glossy sheen — I always think of them as a two-in-one product: lipstick and lipgloss. Ming is one of the softer shades of the formula available, and I get about four hours of wear out of this shade in particular. The gloss fades a little faster–about two hours or so–but the color itself hangs around longer. I love the doe-foot applicator with it, though, because it has this curve that just fits the curve of lips, which isn’t typical of doe-foot applicators.
Is this soft pink the one for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Oooh, a new ‘season’ series! Me like! (Cause peaches and pinks are my thing.) Can’t wait for more. 🙂
Lots and lots comin’ atcha, Maggie!
Wow… Ming is just gorgeous! I am so excited for The Spring Season series. I looooove pinks and corals!
Me too! Well, I adore, adore corals. I like pinks, but corals have my heart!
OK this will be the best series ever …. at least for me. All I wear is pink lips.
I absolutely love Ming … I wear it often. I have black hair and nw15 skin so dragon was too much for me Ming on the other hand… PERFECTION
Yay! What are some of your favorite pinks, Jinny?
Girl about town is one of my favorites. Snob and Saint Germain. Guerlain’s georgia is also one. The other pink chanel laquer as well I forget the name.
Good picks!
I bought Ming a few months ago and I love it. I plan on picking up a few more Chanel Rouge Allure Laques.
Nice! Which one do you think will be next?
the name is so chinese for this range, dragon & ming..
the dragon shade look rather fiery, on the other end the ming is creamy with shimmer.. i would consider taking the ming home!
Very true – Imperial, Dynastie, etc.
Yay! I’m so excited for this Spring Season series! 🙂 I’m not into red lips, so Scarlet Season wasn’t so much for me, but this is right up my alley!
Yay! 🙂 Stick with us long enough, and we’ll have something for you, lol!
Stunning! My kind of lip colour 🙂 Out of my price range for a lippie though 🙁 In that case, I hope this is a perm product(?) *crosses fingers*
It is permanent, thankfully! 🙂 Maybe we’ll come across something similar in our journey through spring!
gorgeous! Am I wrong in thinking that Chanel had not yet released a milky looking lippy until now? I just know I’ve seen a ton of the Chanel looks you’ve shown, and not one of the lippies have been like this one…..
I’m not sure. I’m not that familiar with Chanel’s permanent line — only got into Chanel in the past year or two — but I haven’t come across anything quite like Ming before.
I wish these products weren’t so expensive :*(
and I just realized, this lipstick looks a lot like NYX’s Strawberry Milk and/or MAC’s Saint Germain…….is that just me?
I don’t have Strawberry Milk to compare, but it’s nothing like Saint Germain on me! (Saint Germain is so, so pale and has a purple tint to it on me.)
Maybe I mistook Saint Germain for Angel, then…*shrugs*
That might be it 🙂 Angel could be very similar, depending on your natural lip color!
It’s a beautiful spring color. I like it, but I dunno how much is it going to resist on the lips. I see your upper lip….the color is not so attached to the lips…seems like it will fade fast
I get four or so hours of wear with it myself!
i have been wanting to try the chanel rouge allure laques and i think this is just the color for me to try.
I hope you try it, Lorna!
I wanted to like this one but it washed me out for some reason, Santal worked better for me 🙂
Santal works well on me, too! I’ll be featuring that one later on 🙂
is there a mac dupe for ming? the color is gorgeous but $32 is a little much.
Not that I know of!
Such a pretty pink colour… perfect for spring!
Agreed!
I’ve never found a nude that would make me stop my search for a HG lipstick. This Ming might be it,but I can’t make up my mind. Could you possibly post the full face while wearing this color on your lips? Thanks so much!
Maybe you’ll find one here 🙂 I’ll try!
Thanks for your swatch and review on the laque. I am totally in love with the texture and colour payoff. Def wear Ming this spring !
My pleasure, Taj 😉
Hi Christine, I would ask you which is your MAC skintone, I recently discovered I’m nc25/30, I ever thought to be warm %-)
Many pinks don’t work on me, but ming is great for a day look. I own santal, too, and I love both my laques
I’m NC25/30 — I’m pretty much NC25 these days, but I used to be NC30 FOREVER.
I love Ming! I keep it in my bag every day–it’s a nice, go-to neutral. No problem with spillage either with the Chanel packaging. Wonderful shade.
Totally agree! It’s so, so easy to wear.
I love Ming!!!
Makes two of us, lol!
i love this color! i’m already on my second tube of this stuff 🙂 thanks for turning me on to it, Christine!
Nice! Do you have any of the other shades, Samantha? I really love Santal, too!
Omg, can’t wait for next posts
Yay!
I’m SUPER EXCITED for “The Spring Season”.
I can always use some advice on pinks/corals/everyday type colors.
You & me both!!
love them both thanks
No prob, Emily!
I love these season series. I got some great ideas from the scarlet season.
Hopefully you’ll get some great ideas from this one, too!
ming is so soft and pretty but dragon takes the cake, the most beautiful and flattering red lipstick/gloss in the market.
I agree… it’s hard to live up to Dragon, haha.
Yay! I think I’m going to like this series!
I hope you do 🙂
You and your Rouge Allure Laques! 🙂 Still yearning for Dragon myself!! (My birthday’s in 6 months… *gnnn*)
I can’t help myself, lol!
I love this color, especially layered with Arlequin Glossimer on top! Thanks for turning me on to Chanel lippies Christine:)
My pleasure, Tami 😉 Tell your wallet not to kill me though…
Lol you’re safe Christine:D but my wallet may kill me with all these upcoming MAC collections>.<
LOL! Phew!
This is very similar to Napoleon Perdis Sydney Patrol gloss and it’s not as expensive as this ($20).
I love ming! I have phoenix and dragon as well. I actually like to mix ming and phoenix, for some reason it really works for me. Thanks for the new series!
I could see that – get kind of a medium pink without the brightness of Phoenix!
Hi Christine! Since you’ve been raving about Dragon, I FINALLY went and tried it on a couple of days ago. I’m in love. It’s gorgeous, but I just can’t afford to buy it right now. I also tried another one of the Rouge Allure Laques and loved it just as much. They truly have an amazing formula unlike none other I’ve tried, and I’ve tried ALOT. They are an amazing hybrid of gloss and lipstick. Thanks for reviewing them!
Hey Shefali! Happy new year 🙂
I’m really happy to hear you like the Rouge Allure Laques! It’s such a relief to know I’m not alone, haha. Hope you’ll be able to get them soon 🙂
Such a lovely shade. This is on my wishlist, hopefully I’ll get it soon 🙂
I hope you do, too 🙂
I agree Maggie! I love pinks and peaches! I love each season and when they come but this color for spring is fabulous 😀
this color reminds me of MAC’s nude rose lipstick from dsquared. How do they compare?
Here is my lip swatch of Nude Rose – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-dsquared-collection-lipsticks-fuchsia-fix-reviews-photos-swatches-lip-swatches
Nude Rose looks much paler and much more like a nude, whereas Ming is definitely pinky on me. Ming has shimmer as well – I’d say it’s more opaque than Nude Rose. They’re not totally different – the biggest difference is Ming seems pinker to me than Nude Rose.
maybe to spare having to go out and empty their wallet for one single lipstick, I suggest combining Nude Rose with NYX’s Strawberry Milk underneath…..them together would be very very close, if not identical, I think…

Thanks, Paloma!
thank you paloma and christine! Gorgeous!
no problem 🙂 I love pinching pennies…..I just wish there was ALWAYS a reference online for cheap dupes when it comes to expensive stuff like this.
sorry, but don’t like that pink at all, sorry…
