Hit List: Best Brand for Cooler-Toned Colors

What’s the Best Brand for Cooler-Toned Colors that you’ve tried?

Share your pick!  And don’t forget to share why 🙂

Maybe MAC. None really come to mind, but MAC has such large and numerous collections, that I feel like they regularly produce cooler-toned products.

I would have to agree with you 110% Christine; MAC, without a doubt. And I really love that they produce such a wide range of shades, a huge variety of colors, as well as their offering products in many different finishes and mediums. Their is plenty to choose from for everyone, no matter their skintone, skin color, eye color. MAC is my candy store!

NYX & Kat von D have both put out some nice cooler-toned palettes, particularly the first NYX Butt Naked palette, which is my absolute favorite, “go-to” neutral palette. I also really like tarte, although I miss the “original” 10-pan palettes that I was able to rearrange to suit my needs…

As someone who prefers cooler-tsomething. oned eyeshadow, NARS always seems to have something to offer with every collection, and since I have over 100 singles & duos, I think there’s plenty to choose from, LOL! I can’t think of any other brand that I can consistently turn to literally every season/collection and know I’ll be buying something.

Every brand has lip & cheek colors in the permanent line that run cooler, as well as eyeshadow singles, so I’m mainly trying to think of palettes, which most brands tend to feel obliged to throw in a warm gold/bronze/copper for some inexplicable reason…

Now that is a good question! As a cooler toned person I have found most of the products recently offered as way too warm for me. So it has been a struggle. An oldie but a goodie is the Bareminerals Wild Thing palette. But I would suggest a more recent offering is Charlotte Tilbury’s the Rebel for greens, Dior’s Jardin for a variety of colours including a beautiful teal. Makeup Forever has some lovely greys. I think Clinique has just brought out a range of palettes that are suited to cool toned complexions including greys, blues and greens. No one particular brand.

This is a really tough question; I’m very cool-toned and I don’t have any one “go-to” brand for cool toned shades. I will say that I avoid Bobbi Brown foundations like the plague because they are always way too warm-toned on me. I’ll be interested to hear others’ responses!

Dreamworld Hermetica has well over a hundred shades of foundation in 3 formulas. Life’s Entropy and Pumpkin and Poppy both carry excellent cool-toned contours. Shiro Cosmetics has a great cool highlighter, some new cool contours I haven’t seen reviews of yet, and the same site carries Detrivore which has some amazing blushes for cooler skin.

For color cosmetics, Silk Naturals has the most amazing range of neutrals and work-friendly numbers with amazing complexity and depth. There are some excellent blushes and jaw droopingly gorgeous shadows. Their finishing powder in Date Bait is also amazeballs, it blurs and luminizes and smooths for a very subtle, elegant finish. The warmer toned shades are also excellent.

This is rough. I feel NARS does an ok job of this. Chanel has a way of making shades that look good on both. Urban Decay and KVD do alright occasionally too. Revlon has some good lippies, cream blush, foundations, and eye shadow shades for cooler skins too. By Terry is ok too.

You took the words out of my mouth, Erin! I’m not sure any brand really ‘does’ cool tones consistently well and often, but I could be being biased by the incredible number of really warm eyeshadow palettes that have been coming out recently. I think most brands (except the NARS audacious line?) do an OK job of having a mix in the lipstick department, but many brands suffer in the eyshadow one. Some indie brands seem promising, though, and most brands have at least something.

it’s hit and miss. Kat von D produces cool colors most consistently, but quality varies. Urban Decay has cool colors with better quality, but with fewer options. Chanel has the best foundation for me. I’ve tried everything, and came back to it. I have very dry skin, so MAC products never work for me. I’m always tempted to get KvD, even when the reviews aren’t great. Her palates most often reflect my coloring and personality. I just wish they applied better.
