Olay Definity Anti-Aging Skincare Line

Olay is one of those brands that everybody has heard of, but you may or may not have tried. It has been around for so many years, you may have tried it eons ago, disliked it, and written it off (or loved it and have forgotten about it!)–but now is the time to head to your nearest drugstore to peruse Olay’s Definity line.

Definity is Olay’s line for “highly defined anti-aging” products. In just eight weeks, consumers should see a difference in their skin when using Olay Definity products–from brown sputs, dullness, unevenness, and wrinkles. These days, so many products tout scientific breakthroughts, miracle ingredients, and jaw-dropping pricetags. It’s hard to keep up, and I have always found that Olay makes it easy to figure out the right skincare regimen for you. For Definity, Olay is emphasizing its usage of the Glucosamine Complex, which is meant to help your skin retain moisture better, increase the regeneration of collagen, smooth lines and wrinkles, and increase your skin’s luminosity.

What products are in the Definity range?

Illuminating Cream Cleanser ($10.99) | I find that this cleanser is best for drier skin, because it is more moisturizing than other cleansers, which makes it less ideal for those who already have oily skin. I love that it doubles as a makeup remover, too, which means one less step in my night time routine!

Pore Redefining Scrub ($10.49) | So you thought that because you had oily skin, Definity wasn’t for you–wrong! This scrub is also a cleanser, and it is works well on those with oilier skin. It lathers easily and quickly, and it does a great job of removing the day’s dirt and makeup.

Deep Penetrating Foaming Moisturizer ($29.99) | Do you remember Olay’s Quench? This is kind of like that, which makes the product kind of fun to use. I love that you don’t have to stick your fingers in a tub, and you don’t have to worry about light destroying any of the active ingredients. Like the Quench mousse, this is a super lightweight moisturizer that dries quickly with no mess.

Intense Hydrating Cream ($29.86) | I would say this is ideal for those with drier skin, because it’s a thicker, heavier cream than the Foaming Moisturizer. You can use this AM or PM, which is great since you can have it double up in your routine.

Deep Penetrating Foaming UV Moisturizer ($28.99) | For those who like their moisturizers to include SPF, I’d definitely opt for this one, as it has SPF 15 in it. Of course, in the summer months or days outdoors, I recommend using a separate sunscreen with a higher SPF. FYI, the active sunscreen ingredients are 3.8% octisalate, 1.9% avobenzone, and 0.95% octocrylene.

Correcting Protective Lotion with SPF 15 ($29.79) | This is kind of like a moisturizer, and yet Olay says that you can use it over their Foaming Moisturizer, so I’m a little confused. It is designed to help with skin discolorations and preventing future damage (hence the SPF 15). So to me, this product is almost like a primer that you’d put on after your moisturizer, serums, etc. but before your foundation/powders.

Night Restorative Sleep Cream ($25.99) | Love PM creams, because they tend to be so moisturizing and hydrating. This is a very lux, heavy cream designed to work “while you sleep.” So I was all over this one!

Self Repair Serum ($25.99) | For those with more noticeable wrinkles, fine lines, or aging spots, this is the product for you. Serums are more concentrated/potent than typical creams or lotions, so they are more likely to work or have visible results. I didn’t try this as it’s just hard to see results on my 21-year-old face!

Eye Illuminator ($25.99) | This is basically a serum designed to wake eyes up by minimizing fine lines around the eye area. Like all serums, this should be used before applying eye creams or moisturizer (you want the serum to touch your clean skin and have the best chance of sinking in). If I had enough fine lines to tell you the results, you know I would, but I’m still enjoying my youth! I did test this a little bit, and I noticed it doesn’t work very well underneath makeup as it tends to ball up or flake off (yuck!).

Penetrating Mousse Cleanser ($9.99) | This is touted as a daily deep cleanser, but I don’t know of any cleansers in my beauty closet that I wouldn’t use daily (other than exfoliators, but I don’t consider those cleansers anyway!). You can tell Olay’s really getting into the pump applicators and mousse/foam texture. Kind of fun, but I act like I’m 12 most of the time, too…
