Spring Makeup: Light Pinks & Purples
Winter-into-Spring Blossoms with Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles
Happy Friday, everyone! 🙂 This is a look using the two new, limited edition products from Guerlain’s Cherry Blossom Collection: Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad and Cherry Blossom Blush.
Surprisingly, the eyeshadow quad and blush don’t go together quite as much as I thought they would–the blush is warmer than the quad, which is why they require more work to wear simultaneously. I think I managed to get them to work together for the most part, but they didn’t go together as easily as I anticipated.
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (white, pink, medium purple, dark purple), Urban Decay 1999 24/7 Liner (burgundy), Lancome Plum Tease Artliner (plum), Chanel Exceptionnel Mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Guerlain Cherry Blossom Blush (peachy-pink)
- Lips: MAC Prive Lipstick (soft pink), MAC Preciousness Lipgloss (icy pink)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: MAC dupes for Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad: Vanilla, Sweet Lust, Fig. 1, Shadowy Lady; Prive = Angel; Preciousness = Luminary
Directions
For eyes, start by applying MAC Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. Using the 239, apply Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (medium purple) on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (dark purple) with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (dark purple) with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (white) as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Urban Decay 1999 Liner on the lower lash line, and gently tap Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) on the lower lash line with the 219. Finish by applying Lancome Plum Tease Artliner on upper lash line with the 208, and then sweeping lashes with Chanel Exceptionnel mascara (black).
For cheeks, apply Guerlain Cherry Blossom Blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 129.
For lips, apply MAC Prive Lipstick first, and then layer MAC Preciousness Lipgloss for a glossy sheen.

Wow, you really good in purples! The dark purple e/s is gorgeous. I think the blush and the lipstick go very well with it (and so does your shirt!). You kind of look like you’ve just had your hair cut too 🙂
Hair cut, bah! What’s that? I haven’t had one since OMG LAST DECEMBER. HOLY BEAUTY GOODNESS. Talk about a wake up call… Yeah, maybe after the New Year, I’ll get right on that, lol!
Thank you!! 🙂

LOL, do you think you’ll ever use it?
I love the look but I also love your top!
Who makes it?
H&M!

This is so pretty! The purples look amazing, and the blending is incredible! I love how everything is well matched, too. BTW, awesome shirt! Or dress?
Thanks a lot, Marce! 🙂 It’s a top from H&M!
Great combo! I think I’ll go grab a few more of the MAC subs I don’t have yet and try this out this weekend. I like your top too. 🙂 I hope the H&M near me has one like it.
Thanks, Christy! 🙂 I just picked it up at H&M a few days ago, so hopefully they do!
Lindo!!!
i think you went a bit overboard with the highlighter above the shadow but other than that this is a great look
Thanks for the suggestion, Celeste!

I wasn’t too impressed with the swatches from the “review,” but after seeing this absolutely gorgeous look, I am going to have to pick these up. You are so dangerous to my wallet Christine!!

Gorgeous!! I don’t know about the lips, but the eyes look FANTASTIC. I’m always so envious of your skills! 😛
Thanks, Rae! What kind of lip would have worn it with?

Pam
Thanks, Pam! H&M!
This is pretty and soft. I talked myself out of getting Prive but now I want it!
I don’t think it’s a very special pink, you know? MAC makes lots of great permanent pinks (Angel, Plink!, Sweetie), so I think you can still pass!
u introduced me to the goodness that is prive Christine…i love it!
Aww!
aww that’s super pretty, and that shirt is pretty sparkley..where were you headed?
Thanks, Bettina! LOL, to the shower. I just did a quick look for the blog 🙂

This is gorgeous, and I’m a sucker for purple. I hope the palette won’t cost me a bomb here. :/
Thanks, Fie 🙂
One of my favourites on the whole site! I love pinks and purples. For you darker skinned gals, all u have to do is swap out the icy pink lip colour for MAC’s Odyssey lipstick.
Thanks a lot, KC! I appreciate you sharing the tip about Odyssey 😉
Wow , amazing look and great colors.
Might be in my list for spring 2010 collection.
