Recently what comes to mind is Pleasure Bomb MAC lipstick. I really didn’t want to spend the extra money but I’m glad I have it now! <3 So that lived up to the hype for me…..

The Naked palettes are definitely one, I agree! Hourglass Blushes are another, for sure. Only have two, but I neglect all my others because of them! And also Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer 😀

A. Mar Avatar

Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and blushes, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, Illamasqua blushes, Clinique Cheek Pops, OCC Lip Tars, Chanel and Tom Ford lipsticks and perfumes.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation, Real Techniques Buffing Brush, L’oreal Infallible eye shadows (I don’t even need primer with these!), Maybelline color tattoos, Nars tinted moisturizer and Heatwave, Mac Prep and Prime for lips (how does anyone wear matte lipsticks without it?) and fluidline gel eyeliner.
And almost forgot, but the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone pallete and Mega Last lipsticks (esp. Cherry Picking) deserve all the praise they get and more.

I agree with a lot of what you said, especially the Maybelline Color Tattoos, the. Loreal Infallable shadows, and the Wet n Wild. I was actually shocked by how good they all are, better than many higher end claims! I also love the original Lorac palette more than any other palette so far. I also LOVE the Sigma F80 foundation brush, like no other!! And lastly, Estée Lauder. Double Wear is King, imo.

Urban Decay Naked2, Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders and Immaculate foundation. I’m not sure if they’re ‘hyped’ but I’ve never had a fail with a MAC blush or lipstick so far.

I think the biggest one would have to be the Urban Decay 24/7 liners, if you mean a product that almost *everyone* seemed to go mad for. The Naked 2 palette might fit into this set to, actually. Otherwise there are things that multiple people have recommended to me that have worked well (Guerlain Rouge Automatiques, for one), but not things that I feel were really *hyped*, per se

Urban Decay’s Naked 1 blew me away, even with my super high expectations, so that’s a definite yes. Another would be Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmer Lipglosses, (I just lost my almost empty tube of Pink Tulle and I will definitely be buying another). I absolutely love my two MAC Pearlglides in Undercurrent and Petrol Blue but I don’t feel they are “hyped”?

Maddie Avatar

I really love the Real Techniques makeup brushes – not necessarily in the way they’re suggested, but I love them all the same. It’s a bonus that they’re so well priced too.

Chanel Nail Polish..I know, so many hate the formula but it works great for me. I’m currently wearing a 10 year old bottle. One coat, super shiny and flawless 5 days in. I know its over priced. But the colors are always on point and not always dupable (no one really got Jade right). And the YSL lip lacquers. Many imitators, including Chanel, just the best. But Loreal, my drugstore go to, made a great one that was way more fun to buy.

Mac Creme d’Nude lipstick, Nyx Butter glosses, Sleek Glossed, some Elf Studio brushes, Idk what else….no foundation, concealer or eye pencil ever lived up to their hype in my case…

Gina Avatar

Guerlain Les Voilettes, though that was really only Temptalia hype! I rarely even hear about it anywhere; it’s all about Meteroties and Sephora doesn’t even carry it.

Beth Avatar

Kat Von D Tattoo liner, Tocca perfume, UD setting sprays, Real Techniques brushes, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder, UD eye shadows and eye liners of all varieties (original Vice palette is one of my all time favorites), Bite lip products, St. Tropez tanning products, Body Shop body butters.

Chanel dentelle precieuse highlighting powder, chikuhodo and hakuhodo brushes, makeup forever cream blush and rouge bunny rouge eyeshadows.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere, it has light to medium coverage, when I wear it, my skin looks flawless and suprisingly natural. I found this foundation a few years ago after spending an hour in Nordstrom going to every makeup counter to find a shade to match my skin tone. I was wearing MAC in the summer because my regular shade was too light in the winter and I went back to the counter a month ago and was color matched for summer. I have combination skin so I get a bit oily in my t-zone during the summer months, but it’s not as bad as with other foundations I’ve used. If I remember to use a primer, I’m good. I also have the Les Beiges compact that I apply to my t-zone if needed. This is it for me, as long as I can afford this foundation, I will repurchase it.

The absolute best mascara I’ve ever used: Estee Lauder’s Hypnose Mascara in Excessive Black. The Best. Makes my lashes miles long and nice and thick.

Aline Avatar

Thanks so much for using my question! For me it’s the Beauty Blender, Clarisonic, Nars shadows and blushes and Makeup Geek shadows. From the drugstore I like the Infallible shadows and CG Lash Blast in the orange tube.

Gingerpeach71 Avatar

I also looooove the Hourglass ambient powders! I have the trio and I love it! Also dying that Charlotte Tilbury is launching in the US in Sept! I bit the bullet and, since I am an esthetician, I went for the skin perfectors from the UK. The gold bar could be the most beautiful highlighting powder I have ever used. The Wonderglow cream I had a hard time getting a handle on – but finally got it to work for me by mixing it with foundation- so lovely! I feel like it takes off a good 5-10 years! (For a few hours, at least!!) worth the $60 shipping from England! I pre-ordered the Miracle Cream from Beautylish and I can hardly wait until sept 15!!

Ooh, let me see now: Chanel le volume mascara (does wonders for my lashes!), Laura Mercier Caviar eye pencils – I’ve got 5 of these now and I just love them ( they don’t tug when you put them on and even without primer I’ve noticed that after 14 hours they still look great and there’s no creasing !). From Guerlain (which I adore): The Rouge G lipsticks, the Parure de Lumiere foundation and the Parure gold foundation as well as the Les voilettes compact powder – these are staples that I would repurchase again and again.

Natalia Avatar

Bobby Brown tinted moisturizer. I heard a lot about how BB’s foundations are really good and skin-like, etc. and after I got a hold of her tinted moisturizer (got a great 25% off, yeeey, but it was a lucky one off occasion) I’m totally wowed! I now need to find a way to afford that “obsession” since here it costs almost US $60 without discounts 🙁

Helene Avatar

Not sure they’ve been hyped as a whole, certainly some colours have. MAC Lipsticks, all the ones I have.UD Naked 3, I really like it and I keep returning to it.Formula X nail polishes and, yes, really NARS Orgasm blusher, I love it so much.

for some reason, i knew you’d say chanel dragon, christine! i feel like it always pops up whenever you pick all time favorites– i’ll have to pick it up sometime!

Jillian Avatar

UD Naked palettes, Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushes/finishing powders, UD eyeliners, OCC Lip Tars, Beauty Blenders… I can’t think of too much else that’s received a ton of “hype” per se… I have my HG products (Guerlain Rouge G and foundation, MUFE cream blush, etc) but I don’t think those have much “hype” around them.

Linda Avatar

Chanel le volume mascara
Armani ETK mascara
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder
Guerlain Les Violettes powder compact
Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks (OMG — does not budge as waterline eyeliner)
Cle de Peau concealer (for undereye)
Burberry blush (Blossom)
