5 Warm Brown Eyeshadows to Try

Unlike cool-toned browns, there’s no shortage of warm-toned browns (seriously, check out this gallery), but here are a few of my very favorites that you can individually and any time you want. I’d love to hear your warmer brown must-haves!

  1. Make Up For Ever D623 Celestial Earth — a rich, bronzy brown with a frosted finish
  2. NARS Fez — a brightened, reddish-orange brown
  3. Laura Mercier Cafe au Lait — a medium, softly warm-toned brown with a matte finish
  4. Makeup Geek Homecoming — a light-medium bronzy brown
  5. Inglot #422 — a rich bronze

I don’t own it (yet) but I’m really the look of Giorgio Armani Khaki Pulse.
UD Smog too, partly as it was my first and the only eyeshadow I’ve hit pan on.

Gah, I love the names that NARS gives its eyeshadows! Makes the travel bug in me get restless 🙂 Fez was part of our honeymoon, so I have an immediate attachment to the shade, despite it not being perhaps my favourite colour of the bunch, LOL! That honour probably goes to the Inglot or the Makeup Geek 🙂

I always look up the references for the names, and get a geography lesson! I’ve learned more in the 5-6 years I’ve been using NARS than Middle & High School and College combined…

NARS does several beautiful warm browns, that even *I’ve* gravitated towards: Fez (of course!), Galapagos, & Lola Lola, and for a matte option, Portobello (which is *technically* a duo, but each can be used alone, or together).

I typically prefer cooler-toned/taupey/smokey browns, but I’ve found pairing warmer browns with deep blues & purples, or even black/espresso makes them very wearable for me.

If you can, try to swatch NARS Fez and/or Lola Lola. They are more shimmery than a satin, but not true frosts/shimmers. On the eye, they’re more “glowy”, if that makes sense.

I think many makeup lovers take warm brown shades for granted, but they are the foundation for many makeup collections. I still lurk for brown shades after 35+ years of wearing makeup. I never get tired of ’em. My all star list includes the beloved Fez and Galapagos by Nars, Mac’s Sable, LM Burnt Sugar and UD Smog and Darkhorse. Rouge bunny rouge have a few I’m lusting after, but the names are pretty long!
