5 Warm Brown Eyeshadows to Try
Unlike cool-toned browns, there’s no shortage of warm-toned browns (seriously, check out this gallery), but here are a few of my very favorites that you can individually and any time you want. I’d love to hear your warmer brown must-haves!
- Make Up For Ever D623 Celestial Earth — a rich, bronzy brown with a frosted finish
- NARS Fez — a brightened, reddish-orange brown
- Laura Mercier Cafe au Lait — a medium, softly warm-toned brown with a matte finish
- Makeup Geek Homecoming — a light-medium bronzy brown
- Inglot #422 — a rich bronze
Laura Mercier Cafe au Lait is gorgeous, I don’t own any of her shadows apart from Black Karat which is such a great one shadow look. 🙂
She has some lovely mattes – especially if you like neutrals!
Cafe au Lait is a beaut. I mean, I may be a little influenced because of the name lulz but really, it’s pretty!
It’s a great mid-tone shade!
Ah, Bronze eyeshadows are my weakness, I just want every one I see. Loving the look of Fez especially…
Haha! 😉 What are some of your personal faves?
I don’t own it (yet) but I’m really the look of Giorgio Armani Khaki Pulse.
UD Smog too, partly as it was my first and the only eyeshadow I’ve hit pan on.
LOVE Khaki Pulse!
Nars Mekong.. amazing.. but probably runs more neutral in tone than Fez. Works great wet as a liner too.
Mekong as an eyeliner? Hmmm!
Inglot 422 is one of my favourite eyeshadows of all the ones I own. I also really have a soft spot for MAC Mulch and also for the brown side of the LE Illusionary/Burning Ambition MES duo.
I like Mulch a lot, too!
I really like Cafe au Lait. The name is perfect for the color lol
Agreed!
I love BB Cream Eyeshadow in Stone. It’s sort of reddish bronzy brown, and it’s so pretty with my hazel eyes.
Do you use it as more of a base or wash?
Weirdly (for me) I preferred the cool top 5! Though that MUFE brown does look pretty.
How funny! 😉
Gah, I love the names that NARS gives its eyeshadows! Makes the travel bug in me get restless 🙂 Fez was part of our honeymoon, so I have an immediate attachment to the shade, despite it not being perhaps my favourite colour of the bunch, LOL! That honour probably goes to the Inglot or the Makeup Geek 🙂
I’ll take travel names over the sex ones, lol!
I always look up the references for the names, and get a geography lesson! I’ve learned more in the 5-6 years I’ve been using NARS than Middle & High School and College combined…
NARS does several beautiful warm browns, that even *I’ve* gravitated towards: Fez (of course!), Galapagos, & Lola Lola, and for a matte option, Portobello (which is *technically* a duo, but each can be used alone, or together).
I typically prefer cooler-toned/taupey/smokey browns, but I’ve found pairing warmer browns with deep blues & purples, or even black/espresso makes them very wearable for me.
So glad you’ve been able to find a way to make warmer browns work on you, Amy!
The Laura Mercier shade is beautiful! My absolute favorite warm brown shade though has to be MUG’s Cocoa Bear!
Love that shade!
I love bronze shadows but most seem to be frosted or heavily metallic. Can someone recommend a true bronze that isn’t?
I think because bronze is a metal (like gold, silver) that when it isn’t frosted/metallic… it’s more just brown, lol!
If you can, try to swatch NARS Fez and/or Lola Lola. They are more shimmery than a satin, but not true frosts/shimmers. On the eye, they’re more “glowy”, if that makes sense.
I love brown eye shadows . It is the only color I wear. I have cool skin tone so I always choose a coll
I always wear cool browns.
Cool-toned browns are nice!
I absolutely LOVE Nars Fez! I have the 15 shadow Narsissist palette and Fez is my most used shade!
Fez is great!
Ha, I just got myself LM in Whiskey and I love it – such a great neutral matte.
Looks like Cafe au Lait will have to find its way to me soon.
Laura Mercier does nice mattes!
I think many makeup lovers take warm brown shades for granted, but they are the foundation for many makeup collections. I still lurk for brown shades after 35+ years of wearing makeup. I never get tired of ’em. My all star list includes the beloved Fez and Galapagos by Nars, Mac’s Sable, LM Burnt Sugar and UD Smog and Darkhorse. Rouge bunny rouge have a few I’m lusting after, but the names are pretty long!
Oops meant Burnt Sugar by Bobbi Brown.
They are nice shades to have! I just wish there were more cool-toned ones, too!
