Kat Von D Launches Makeup Line with Sephora

Art with Attitude: Kat Von D Leaves Her Mark, Exclusively at Sephora

This summer, beauty gets a bad girl edge when Kat Von D, star of L.A. Ink and owner of High Voltage Tattoo, introduces her one-of-a-kind collection exclusively for Sephora. Whether your look is pin-up perfection or rocker chic, this limited edition line-up has something for those who like to add a little edge to their eyes and punch to their pout.

“People have always asked me what I would be doing if I wasn’t a tattooer, and the only thing I could imagine being as fulfilling as tattooing would be doing makeup!,” says Kat Von D. “To me, makeup is one of the most artistic outlets of self expression, and this collection — a mix of old Hollywood glamour with an L.A. vibe — personifies that. The colors are exceptionally versatile so you can create a look that is classic glamour or amp up the volume for something bolder.”

Eyeshadow Palette ($35) — available in two shade collections, aptly called Ludwig (Kat’s Cat) and Beethoven (Kat’s favorite composer), each palette contains eight eyeshadows, in colors ranging from Lucifer (black) to Tequila (light, golden yellow).

Eyeliners ($16) — six shades of liquid eyeliner, perfect for amping up the star appeal and creating the sexiest cat eyes. Available in Puro Amor (black), Turbo Lover (purple), Immortal Love (brown), Love Metal (gunmetal), Romantico (army green) and Black Metal Love (black with glitter).

Eye Brush Set ($48) — a set of five eyeshadow brushes to bring out your inner artist and achieve a flawless finish.

Lipsticks ($18) — four incarnations of red to accentuate the perfect pout — are you feeling mischievous? Underage Red (blue red), Lolita (rose), Misfit (raisin) or Hellbent (burgundy).

The collection will be available from May 12, 2008 in all Sephora stores, as well as by calling 1-877-SEPHORA or logging on to www.Sephora.com.

I’ve always admired Kat von D’s makeup. Can’t wait to see this makeup in the flesh, so to speak. The deep purple in the second palette looks especially pretty.

Wow, Ladybug, I agree! That first palette looks awesome! I’d just like to know the color payoff and how long it lasts throughout the day..

Any chance of swatches when it comes out, Christine? =D

The both eyeshadow palettes look really good, but I refuse to buy anything from a celebrity line. Perfumes, clothing, and now they’re invading make up!!! They just come off as money hungry to me. She always wears full make up, so it’s easier to believe, but it could just as easily be the make up artist from the show. Ok, that’s my little rant for the afternoon, I need some candy.

The collection looks nice, but if the product is the same quality as Sephora’s house brand then no way, their eyeshadows are not quality products in my opinion. Too chalky.

How do Sephora shadows and brushes compare to MACs? I don’t own anything Sephora brand. I’m a MAC girl but I love this palette and the brush set! Can’t wait to check it out.

The first eye shadow palette (Ludwig) looks pretty interesting as do the liquid eye liners. Obviously I like the lipsticks but I am pretty sure I already have similar shades 🙁

Thanks for posting this collection, Christine. I wouldn’t have known about it otherwise. I fell in love with the palettes immediately and it was so hard to decide which one to get(I only got one since my budget is a bit stretched from buying so much MAC!). Ordered the Beethoven palette; love the purples in it.

Okay, I couldn’t resist and ended up getting Lolita l/s and the brush set in addition to the Beethoven palette. The l/s is a gorgeous dark rose shade; different from anything that I have. And love the kind of rubbery texture of the containers.

I was a bit disappointed in the brushes; they aren’t even as nice as MAC’s LE brush sets, and one of them is synthetic(the flat eyeliner) and the case they come in, though cute, is pretty cheap. Overall, I felt like I got my money’s worth with the makeup, but I felt the brushes were over priced.

Got both eyeshadow sets… really nice quality, compareable to macs. high pigment and go on super smooth. love them both! Ludwig is nice for day, and beethoven gives a really nice sultry look!

oh i just found out about this brand at sephora, and i must say they are so nice, i love the e/s pallettes – they have the nicest feel and consitency (like mac and urban decay), the eyeliners are cool too. the prices arent so bad either. i want all 3.

I am excited to see her line when it comes out, but my question is, on one show I saw last week there was a clip where she said she was promoting her makeup line and she had all her tattoos covered up. I was wondering if she had made a concealer that she will be launching as well? I was astounded with the coverage, and I have a birth mark that I would love to have surgically removed, but no funds, so concealer is the next best thing…. Good luck Kat!
