The Pied de Poule are all the colours I could dream off wanting but these palettes have never really been very successful, have they. I found myself staring at them from behind the glass counter once. I said noooooo very loudly and backed away quickly and the guy at the counter was ever so confused.

I find myself buying less and less luxury brand palettes over the years, especially smaller palettes like these that end up ignored and unused just by virtue of my habits (I grab for my custom palettes and Z-palettes 98% of the time). I’m far better off buying singles or duos ore something that I depot into a uniform collection. I like the looks of Pied de Poule..third one down..but I’m not really wearing darker shadows as much as I used to.. still, I am definitely attracted to the colours.

Trafalgar looks really interesting but a bit too pink for me (especially that middle colour). I love the grey shade in the centre of Bar but Pied de Poule (chicken foot?) looks the most desirable for me. I’ll be interested to see how this one rates if you review it, Christine. At least they are permanent, so no mad rush to try to get any of them.

Oh – pied de poule! It’s like “hounds tooth” – the fabric design/weave and that makes sense since it used to be the packaging on many or maybe all of Dior’s fragrances (my mom wore Diorissimo and it was packaged in a hounds tooth (or pied de poule) printed box and bottle labels.

Hi, dear!
Did you understand that the formulation is also new or there are only new colors?
I’m looking forward to see them in person.
Nice day! 😉

Super excited..I hope these get a good review from you.I have only 2 from Dior Rosy Tan and Bonne Etoile both are super pigmented. But I know some quints get bad reviews too.Which of the 5 do you think will suit tan nc44 the best??

Dior 5 colour palettes are a bit of hit and miss. some are good, some are, well, not so good. Of these i like Trafalgar the most. Tutu is pretty, but the colours are so alike in it. I like a bit of contrast in my palettes. Bar looks like it could be a good workday palette. I don’t like blue eyeshadows on me, so the blue one isn’t tempting, and the last one, Pied de Poule looks like a nice evening out palette, A bit on the dark side for me, and I suspect the shimmery black-ish shade could cause a bit of fall down.
I hope Dior have reformulated their eyeshadows so there will be no misses.
Looking forward to reviews and swatches.
I would love to be able to depot all my Dior palettes and transfere the shadows to a (huge) palette, as it is they sit, along with a lot of single shadows at the bottom of a drawer, and hardly ever gets used.

I can´t wait for your review, Christine! I’ve been drooling over “Pied de poule” (that shimmering black! oh my…) and “Bar” but I would really like to know how they perform. Also, some blogs said there were going to be 12 quints, do you know anything about that?

Bar looks like a good basic palette, and Pied de Poule is really drawing me in. Tutu is pretty, but the colors are too similar, and I would prefer a deeper shade of brown/taupe/grey/purple in the center.

I have quite a few Dior 5 Couleurs palettes, and don’t use them as much as I thought I would. Anyway, I’m looking forward to your reviews!

You’re not supposed to translate “Pied de Poule” like that.
Pied de Poule is a type of fabric, in English better known as Houndstooth.

Thank you, didn’t know that was hounds tooth in French. Literal translation word for word is chicken’s foot though. Learn something everyday. Expressions are different in all languages, some are not easily translatable.

I can’t get over how stunning and jewel-like most of these shades are. I can’t say that the burgundy centre shade isn’t my favourite though, it’s so beautiful, I’ve been looking for a single this shade for a long time.
