Hit List: Best Razor
What’s the Best Razor that you’ve tried?
Share your pick! And don’t forget to share why 🙂 Thanks to Stacey for today’s question!
I switch between Gillette Venus and Schick Quattro, both of which I like quite and bit and have used for the past ten years or longer!
The Schick 5 blade Hydro!
Meh, I have yet to find it. I use Venus from Gillette but I can’t say that it’s a great razor.
After i cut a 8-9cm and 2cm long strip of skin of my Shinbone i switched to Epilator.
I hate doing this! Also managed to cut through my fingernails with a razor not once, but twice and it is the most painful thing in existence! Does the epilator work well? I tried waxing but it never picks up my hairs properly 🙁
I always use a mans razor now. Cheaper and it works better. Plus it doesn’t have huge contoured sides.
Gilette Sensor Excel. It’s an old system..I think I’ve been using it for at least 20 years or more and now the blades are so much more affordable than other systems. I do not care at all for Venus–head is too bloody big. Twin blades are enough for me, I rarely shave other than small touch ups. I had laser on bikini line, lower legs, and armpits about 8 years ago. I do not have a lot of regrowth and I will typically reach for hair removal cream, but get lazy from time to time and grab the shaver for the little bits on my armpits.
I’ve been razorless for years now… Sugaring, waxing, tweezing (or I’d like to try threading!) all the way!
Hi there! Former swimmer here and I’d like to share my secret on shaving one’s legs to feel like dolphin skin. The razor I grab is Gillette Fusion Proglide for Men. Yes, for men, because who needs gendered products cluttering things up? Five blade plus a trimmer for those stragglers in the pits (if you shave them, that is). Instead of shaving cream, I soap up with any Bath and Body Works shower gel: the shea in the formula really helps things out. Shave as normal. Pat dry legs, then immediately lotion the up with, again, Bath and Body Works lotion. Reveal silky smooth legs!
Whoa I’m off to buy that! I do have a few stragglers I’d like to nab.
I have been considering trying men’s razors for the longest, will definitely have to pick some up now!
I alternate between the Schick Hydro Silk razor and the Schick Quattro. I use the Hydro Silk for a super close stubble free shave (but it usually nicks me) and the Quattro for just a regular shave.
I love my daisy razors.
I do the same as you, Christine. The razor world has gotten a lot smaller for good choices! I’d like a third option.
So odd as those are my two as well! I was just thinking the other day I’ve had my schick Quattro handle for over five years, I’m sure it needs to be replaced but there’s nothing wrong with it!
Gillette Venus is by far my favourite! I used to use rubbish disposable razors and every time I shaved would end up with massive chunks cut out of my legs! The best thing about the Venus razor is that you don’t have to use shaving cream!
Fusion for men and bath oil without perfume – miraculous combo!!!!
I use the Schick Hydro 5. I got it for free on a cruise at least 4 years ago now. Everyone always had such smooth legs, and I just didn’t understand how. This razor gives me legs as smooth as my friends! This razor is definitely HG status for me. The replacement blades are a little pricey ($2+ each), but they last forever (months). I usually try to catch a sale or use a coupon when I purchase them.
I’m the same as you… but in the past year have switched to waxing, and prefer it over shaving!
Schick Intuition Sensitive Skin! I also use Venus but it’s not my fave.
VENUS hands down. That razor can get into teeny places like nothing else and without cutting the skin! I’m tiny and have little armpits. Hehe 😀 It’s flexible and sharp, works quite well for me. Prior, I used a male shaver which was pretty much the same.. Flex for men first? WE NEED IT TOO. Pft 😉
The Gillette Venus Embrace.
Men’s razors are 6 times the terrible pink things they try to sell us. Especially the ones with the giant soap bar surrounding the razor? Ughhhh. The plain old Gilette Fusion does great for me. No nicks, smooth legs, does fairly well on my bikini area (I’m prone to ingrowns).
I located this the other day but haven’t gotten a chance to buy one yet since tomorrow is payday. https://www.harrys.com/products/the-truman-set
(I do not work for or get paid by this company, blah blah blah)
the schick quattro and the hydro are two of my most favorite razors ever! i feel like i don’t have to shave as often either when using these. i’ve tried to like the venus many times over the years but i just don’t think it works that well for me personally. i see it everywhere, at my friends houses, takes up more shelf space in stores.. it’s just one of those products i don’t “get”.
<__>
I get a bag of those super cheap disposable Bic ones… they work just fine, and I don’t find the other ones last so much longer or feel so much better to justify the extra expense (the heads are like $20 here or something dumb).
That being said, I don’t use them up very quickly, as while I will maintain my armpits daily, my legs…well, let’s just say it’s winter here and I need the extra warmth, LOL!
My biggest tip for shaving (especially with eczema prone skin) is to do it with that non-ionic cream base you can get from the pahrmacy. Best stuff ever. Zero irritation, super cheap, comes in bulk. Perfect. 🙂
Intuition all the way! I never cut myself with that thing. And no need to buy shaving cream—what’s not to love?
After years of being unsatisfied with women’s Gillettes and Schicks, I saw my husband’s safety razor in the bathroom and tried it. A safety razor. Crazy, right? It shaves closer than any other razor I had ever used and I never get cuts from it. Not only does it provide a wax-like shave, but it is also less expensive and higher quality than the 3 and 5-blade varieties. Instead of stealing my husband’s, I picked up my own from Amazon. The metal razor which has a chrome finish (and lasts forever) was $9 and 100 double-sided razor blades was $11. It really provides a close shave that I love (without any bumps)!
Schick Intuition coconut milk and almond. LOVE how smooth it makes my skin feel and cuts shaving time in half! Plus I don’t have to buy shaving cream anymore. Woo!
