Favorite part about the morning?: My English Breakfast tea, with a little bit of milk, no sugar.

Thanks! It was so tiring! 8 hour drive there and back, plus a 6 hour party. I’m exhausted.
Haul: L’Oreal Infallible in Amber Rush (I’d read so many reviews praising this that I figured I needed to get it), a Sally Hansen nail tip whitening pencil (haven’t had one of those in donkey’s years) and I’m heading out shortly to pick up the full size of Nars Baalbek eye paint (if they have it in stock – I’ll call first!) and, if the MAC store has finally opened (though I doubt it), a 231 eyeshadow brush.
Weekend plans: busy weekend ahead starting with a double retirement party tonight for 2 work colleagues – husband and wife – who are also neighbours. Our yoga studio is opening a new location tomorrow so we’re going to the open house to give everyone a chance to see it and then we’ll probably join in the 108 sun salutations to mark the summer solstice and to bless the new studio (I joke that I’ll do 8 and let someone else finish the remaining 100!). And if that weren’t enough, the whole family is gathering at mother in law’s house to do all the chores and repairs she needs done (while chores and repairs on my own home are still waiting….)
Favourite part of the morning – right now, it’s savouring not having to hurry to get ready, not having to rush out the door, etc. Leisurely coffee on the deck with the whole day stretching ahead of me!

How long have you been doing yoga, Mariella?
It’ll be 2 years next month. I found the studio quite by happy accident (yogis say “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear”) – I used to pass the studio every day on my way to and from school but the name and the colours had me thinking it was a TANNING SALON! Initially, I thought I’d do their one month special intro (30 days of unlimited yoga for $30 – as many classes as you wanted to attend in those 30 days) and learn all I needed to be able to practise in the classes at my gym. By about day 3, I realized that even 30 MONTHS wouldn’t teach me all I needed and also, this was such a wonderful, encouraging, positive place to be for someone like me (older, knee injuries, not very flexible, never did yoga before) that I ended up dragging hubby along to give it a try (he didn’t think he’d like it at all) and now, it’s a really fun part of our life. My mother in law gets a real kick out of us going on “dates” (yoga classes, really) 2 or 3 nights a week…
How fun! Sometimes my husband and I do yoga (at home with a DVD), but we’ve never gone to a studio or actual class. It’s so great that the studio you found was so great with respect to culture/atmosphere!
Been a bad few weeks for my wallet. I recently purchased the MJ Siren Palette, VG Rhianna lipstick and gloss, another YSL Glossy Stain (Violine Out of Control), 2 Stila Smudge Sticks (Lionfish and Midnight Green), MAC Corol blush, Mirror and Gold Mirror Lipglass, and Urban Decay Adrenaline Lip Gloss. And Christine you are the blame for each and every one of those purchases because I looked then all up here. 😀
OH I ALSO PICKED UP 2 Jason Wu for Lacome eye palettes last night – the packaging! **DIES**
Oh and mornings – COFFEE is the best thing. And picking out my makeup for the day. This weekend 0 playing with all that new makeup.

OMG Christine!! I just used the Siren palette – my first MJ product ever. I’ve never felt anything like this before. I’ve been exclusively MAC for years and since I found your blog I’m just breaking into new brands. I’m BLOWN AWAY!! Are all of his products this good or is it hit and miss? I feel like throwing all my makeup away and replacing it with MJ. Of course I’d have to remortgage my house to do that lol.

I haven’t tried all of his palettes, and I don’t LOVE all of them – The Siren and The Starlet are both very good and similar in texture/feel/application. The Starlet is probably more dupable, though.
I love MJB’s eyeliners a lot, and I’m a fan of the gel lipsticks, though I’ve heard some readers be less impressed so it may also vary from shade to shade. I didn’t like the liquid foundation, and the blushes were extremely disappointing (stiff, dry, poor color payoff) from the two that I’ve tried. Oh! Polishes are lovely, too.
If I were going to recommend a second product type to look into from the range, probably the eyeliners – a lot of the shades are more unique than not (surprisingly!) and most people seem to get particularly long wear out of them (myself included). Some shades require a bit more layering (two or three passes back), others are super pigmented in one stroke, but the wear and color range are impressive.
Awesome Christine – thanks sooooo much. I just stumbled on the Stila Smudge Sticks (again thanks to you 🙂 ) and bought 2 of them and am in love!! Packaging is awful for sure but the product is amazing. How would you say the MJ liners compare to Stila Smudge Sticks? Thanks again. Really appreciate your advice!! You are the best!!

The packaging is better on the MJB’s, since the twist is really clear and the eyeliner itself is more like a pencil (so not as narrow as Stila’s). They’re similar in creaminess and wear, though 🙂

Haul: Coming in the mail today LORAC Pro Palette 2 & A LOT of Cargo stuff. I managed to snag all bunch of it before it sold out since it was all on sale!
Weekend plans: Hoping I win tickets to Lollapalooza tonight. Going to see my 5 favorite people: Backstreet Boys!! I’ll be in New Jersey all weekend 🙂
ps I did end up going to the Science Museum last weekend, and it was so much fun!!
Favorite part about the morning?: I was never really a morning person, but if I do wake up of my own accord…I’m usually pretty happy because it means I have something exciting going on that day!

I ordered Peach Smoothie, Cocoa Bear, Bitten, Spell Bound, and Secret Admirer from MUG. That is supposed to arrive on Monday. Wednesday, I got the Formula X for Sephora Bionic Effect Top Coat polish. And a friend of mine gave me a Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bellissima.

Haul: Still nothing. :/ Last night Sephora was playing cruel tricks on me. It showed Opal back in stock, but then I went to add it and it would tell me it was out of stock. Then, it showed out of stock again, but a bit later it showed it as in stock. I got to add it to my bag, go through the whole process, and then I go to checkout and it takes me back to the first step saying an item is out of stock. Thanks, Sephora, you suck!
Weekend plans: Spending time with family.
Favorite part about the morning?: I am not a morning person at all. Snuggling the doggy boy is prob the best part.

LOL! Oh, lord, girl…do not get sucked into Operation OW14, too. It is maddening, and might as well be deemed mission impossible. 😛 This obsession has liquified my brains. I jump whenever I hear my email tone go off. It’s just plain sick, haha.
On Twitter, Becca Cosmetics had some post that was along the lines of spotting a few Opal Pressed SSPs at Sephora in NYC’s meatpacking district, and I just thought wtf is this, this is some Where’s Waldo shit with the highlighter. SMH.
LOL! It reminds me of some MAC releases in the past – Marine Life comes to mind.

Weekend Plans: Seeing a friend tomorrow. Gonna pick up a mini of bioderma, to use for cleaning my brushes, and possibly my face. Going to a party on sunday.
Favourite part about the morning: Gotta agree on the coffee. Also, just enjoying the birds singing, and the rest is silent.

Weekend plans: I have to get some work for school, and I need to stop at the library to get a book. I’m heading to the American Museum of Natural History with a friend tomorrow.
Favorite part about the morning?: I live in NYC, and I like waking up before the rest of the house and watching the sky turn from pinkish gold to blue across the city rooftops. The air is crisp and refreshing. I love taking a moment to appreciate the quiet while looking at the sky.
And then there’s Zoe. She likes to run at me and knock me down while licking my face. That part is less peaceful. Lol.

Haul: The boyf’s mom gave me a $100 gift card to Bloomingdales for a graduation present, so I bought the Lancome Brow Expert in Brunette (HG brow product for me!), the Clinique DDMG, and my favorite purchase, the Chanel Glossimer in 297 Sweet Beige. Then from Nordstrom Rack, I purchased the super sized Bliss Body Butter in Lemon + Sage for only $16 (usually $49), and some simple small bar earrings. At Target, I bought an olive green jumpsuit to wear to my sister’s 21st bday dinner on sale for $14 from $29.99.
Weekend Plans: Unfortunately, going to the boyf’s grandmother’s memorial service, Also spending time with his family in Long Beach this weekend.
Favorite Part About the Morning: Showering. After I’m showered I feel better and more awake. Can’t really think of anything else I like about mornings…lol

Haul: Got a very pretty shimmering pink nail polish from Guerlain. Thats it. (Been showing remarkable restraint these past two weeks).
Weekend Plans: Ironing and then we are going out to dinner with some friends in the evening. Looking forward to that.
Favorite part of the morning: Not sure if I have one as I usually hit the ground running and don’t really pause for thought as it were. If I had my way I would be a ‘get up at the crack of lunch’ kinda gal!

This is my first time with Guerlain nail polish and so far I’m loving it -especially the brush, what a well designed brush!

Haul: Sue Devitt loose powder and Rouge Bunny Rouge mattifying primer from ebay, It Cosmetics Illuminating Foundation, and Nuance BB Cream. And I got my Mariage Freres tea from Dean and Deluca…soooo happy right now!
Weekend plans: Haircut, hopefully fully recovering from my cold (seriously, who gets a cold in June…oh yeah, me, because I never get them any other time).
Favorite part about the morning?: My first cup of hot tea. That’s about it; I’m not a morning person! I would say petting my cats, but they’re usually pretty jerky until they get fed, and then sometimes they’re still a little jerky.

Haul: stila sale for eyeliners came. unusual = (light) turquoise, periwinkle. liking sepia + mint julep. 5 others (a marked down set…i had none). easy to imagine which shadows these babies complement. also got the sephora 100 pointer; came quickly…the gloss was leaking + kinda separated, but let me say, those colors are delightful + I liked the samples of remedy concealer + gel foundation. won’t go for the second, bec. your review, probably. the color seemed very dark for a #1, what do the pale ones do? I’m def a medium in summer + live @ a beach + #1 was on the $ ??!!! odd… initially thought the gloss was a big bleeder, but, that’s probably just the melting. sephora does not manage HEAT well. also got KvD Ladybird + the Swoon tool. It seems good to eke out the last of virtually any product, though designed for glosses. Most importantly, got the computer memory in the mail also!
Plans: lay low. worked 8A to 11P yesterday, with a mini break to eat, feed + walk the dogs. that’s a long day for an old buzzard like me. also, reattempt the memory installation. Reading Peace Like A River, which I had put aside previously. Be outside in this most perfect of weather.
AM: The yorkie gets up with the absolute first ray + the dachs plays teenager + lazes about. so in the AM, i get to spend 1:1 time with Rudy, who is often edged out by Jussi, the doggy demando.
Yay for new computer parts! 🙂
I haven’t seen all the shades for the Marc Jacobs line in concealer/foundation, but I am surprised to here #1 seemed dark!

Haul: So they had 40% off Revlon this week…. picked up Demure Colorburst Lacquer Balm and *ba bah BAH!* Adorned Colorburst Lipgloss!! And I LOVE IT. I was fully expecting it not to be as good as you said… no, it’s every bit as good. Wow.
Weekend plans: Weekend off! Do a trial pack for my Europe trip, catch up with family.
Favorite part about the morning?: Coffee. LOL. I do actually love being up at dawn when the world is quiet, the sun is just rising, and the light is stunning…. I just hate getting out of bed!!

I took the dog and went to a MAC counter where I went a bit crazy and got Matchmaster in 1.0, Mineralize Concealer in NW 20, Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick and four eye shadows, Bright Sunshine, Lucky Green, Sushi Flower and Deep Damson.
I recieved my order from Charlotte Tilbury, Roch ‘n’ Kohl Eye Cheat for Bigger. Brighter Eyes and Beach Stick Lip to cheek dewy colour pop in Es Verde.For me this works very good both for cheeks and for lips. It might be a bit drying on the lips, but not uncomfortaly so, The pigmentation is good, on the cheeks it stays put all day. As for durability on the lips, I think it’s quite good.
I also ordered some eye shadows from Makeup Geek, I’ve not recieved them, yet, so I’ll have a haul for next week too.
Weekend, relaxing doing nothing special.
Favourite part of the morning, it must be taking the morning walk with Stubbs, the dog. If it’s raining it’s coffee 🙂

Ooooh, I think Deep Damson is my favorite Mac eyeshadow ever.
It’s really beautiful. I didn’t think it looked half as nice in the pan as it does on. I swatched it and was blown away discovering what a gem it is.

Weekend plans: take the baby to the splash pad, go to a friend’s birthday party, and sleep.
Favorite thing about the morning: I wake up before the little one and before hubby and go to Starbucks all by myself.
