NARS Anarchy, Gold Viper, Insidious Nail Polishes
Here are three more shades from the upcoming nail collaboration between 3.1 Phillip Lim and NARS (official info here). If you missed the first three, check this post. In general, I find NARS’ lacquer formula to be underrated–it’s really quite good, both in terms of color payoff, consistency, as well as with respect to wear. I usually get seven to ten days of wear with very minor tip wear out of this formula.
NARS Anarchy Nail Polish ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “angora.” It’s a light, buttery beige with warm, yellow undertones and a cream finish. For this type of color, it applied quite well, but there was slight streakiness, even after two coats, though the color was opaque in general after two coats. The consistency leaned on the thicker side but didn’t pool along the edges of the nail. MAC Near Beth Experience (LE, $16.00) is yellower, brighter. Zoya Cho (P, $9.00) is less yellow. NARS Gold Viper Nail Polish ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “champagne.” It’s a light-medium, muted tarnished gold with a metallic finish. It had very lightly visible brush strokes, but the wider brush helped apply them in a straight line, rather than have them look wobbly. The polish had good coverage and was opaque after one coat, but I applied two coats for swatches. The formula on this shade dried down fairly quickly. Revlon Gold Coin (P, $4.99) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler-toned. Illamasqua Swinger (P, $17.00) is cooler-toned, more shimmery. China Glaze Midnight Kiss (LE, $7.50) is more gold. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
NARS Insidious Nail Polish ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “black bronze.” It’s a deep, dark olive brown with murky gold and bronze pearl. It was intensely pigmented and was nearly opaque in one coat, though I applied two for swatches. The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it applied beautifully and didn’t streak, bubble, or pool along the edge of the nails. I don’t think this looks like NARS Mash, which is much greener, less olive/brown, but it was a shade I had in mind initially. Chanel Mysterious (601) (P, $27.00) has no shimmer. Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie 2.0 (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Dior Czarina Gold (LE, $24.00) has larger shimmer. SpaRitual Lithophonic (LE, $10.00) is greener. China Glaze Midtown Magic (LE, $7.50) is browner. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Insidious!!!!Love that shade! And its officially NP week @temptalia (MAC, NARS and Cult Nails)…. 😉
🙂
Haha! It is!
All breathtakingly gorgeous!!
I love Insidious!
I didn’t think any of the colors in the first set were particularly unique, but I’m loving these…especially Gold Viper and Insidious.
Surprise! 🙂
Yes! NARS nail polishes have amazing formulation. Where most polishes last about 3-4 days before looking pretty worn, NARS usually last a full week. I will definitely be picking up Gold Viper. It looks like a very unique warm, creamy-gold tone that I don’t see often.
So happy to hear you’ve been able to get great wear out of their formula!
Sometimes with nail polish it’s like, I didn’t know I needed that until I saw it.
That just happened to me with Gold Viper.
Haha! 😉
For some reason, when I think ¨Anarchy,¨ I don’t think of a nude beige, haha. Anywho, Gold Viper and Insidious are gorgeous! Maybe my first NARS purchase…
You’re not the only one! I was like, “Anarchy is… beige?”
The last one is really pretty.
That was my fave, too!
The shimmer in Insidious is stunning!!
I loved how it shimmered!
I love Insidious! I am so happy it got an A+ rating!
YAY! 😀
Anarchy looks great, especially for a almost non streaky basic light beige color that makes the nails look neat without a lot of color but I´m not sure I want to spend 20 $ for one nail polish
Yeah, it’s a more impressive beige, though definitely not perfect!
I love Anarchy! Such a pretty nude!
It is a nice shade!
Insidious is cool, and I’m impressed with the uniformity of finish of Gold Viper. Often those metallic shades are too thin or too thick, but this one looks just right! (heh, *Gold*ilocks style, geddit?!)
LOL! 😉 I can always count on you to make me smile, Sylirael!
Insidious <3
It’s so gorgeous!
Gold Viper and Insidious are beautiful shades.. I havent tried anything like them on my nails.. 🙂
They are so lovely!
Insidious reminds me of China Glaze’s Wagon Trail, less orange sparkles. WT is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to wear it again when it fall comes around.
That is an old one, CC! I remember that as one of the very first China Glaze polishes I swatched, lol!
Still available at 8ty8 beauty. I should probably pick up another one soon 🙂
OH, how I love Insidious! I hope we’ll get these polishes here. Not everying makes it to us.
Fingers crossed for ya, Helene!
I love all of them but I don’t think that any one them would look good with my skin tone.
Aw 🙁
Anarchy seems like a good everyday wear 🙂 I love the color!
I could see it being great for every day, especially anyone who has to be more office appropriate!
Insidious is WOW!! This is a shade that’s worth the price, so gorgeous!
It is really lovely!
