Temptalia Asks You - Do you use matte eyeshadows in your looks?

Do you use matte eyeshadows in your looks? Why/why not?

.

I do, and I like using them, but sometimes I still end up with all shimmer shadows, just because I have more color variety in those. I love how they add dimension to the crease with the matte finish, though!

I’m a huge fan of matte eyeshadow and think it doesn’t get nearly the love and attention it deserves in the makeup community:)
I feel like glitters and shimmers look so pretty in the pans that we forget that’s not what matters–it how it looks on the eye that’s important:)
Some fav matte shaes are L’Oreal’s Brushed Suede and Lush Raven and MAC’s Brule, Saddle and Embark:)

I use matte eyeshadows, but actually I don’t really care what formula the eyeshadow has, even if it’s a lustre. If I love the color I buy it, no matter if it’s a matte, frost, satin or lustre.

I do – although I find I generally prefer shimmer because it is easier to work with and have a bigger impact, I like matte shadows, particularly pale candy shades, a lot.

Beauty from the Earth recently sent me a bunch of their new matte shadows to review, so I’m using them more and more. I think you can definitely mix the two finishes, as well.

Yeah, sometimes. I like using matte eyeshadows in the crease or the outer v as I find they add a little bit more impact to the look and make it look more interesting.

I try, but I have a hard time making them work for me. I always think I don’t look that good with an all matte eyeshadows look, so most of the time I end up using a matte higlighter but shimmery (or at least satin) lid and crease colors. Such a shame I can’t get them to work!

All the time. I think they are more sophisticated and more age appropriate for me. Sometimes I like a slight shimmery sheen, but nothing OTT and no glitter. Matte is classic and never looks like a trend.

Yes,
– to tone down my looks in case I use bright and bold colour on my lips
– my face but better
– easy daily looks
…. in this case are natural/nudie/brownie matte eyeshadows….

for vivid other-that-neutral-colours matte eyeshadow.. it’s usually just to add a statement in my overall look…

Whatever… I like matte eyeshadows…!

Yes…I love matte shadows!! Especially for the crease…it just adds more dimension than alot of the shimmery shadows do…I used to love love love shimmer shadows and I am starting to turn away from them a bit…dont know why, I just feel some of them are way too shimmery…

I only have a few matte eyeshadows, but the two I love the best are matte2 finish: handwritten and blanc type. Blanc type especially as I use it every day for a highlighter!

I try to use only matte shadows as I much prefer them. However, many in my collection are at least slightly simmer so it’s difficult.

I prefer matte for all of my makeup really.

I like them in theory, but only play around with them when I have time to perfect my look. I feel like they take a lot more effort to blend out well. I do like to use them to line, though, because their pigmentation is usually so great.

YES! Come on now, I’m a makeup addict! LOLLLZZ!! I love mixing textures and if the shadow is a good quality matte, I am in heaven!! Yesterday I did an ALL matte look using white on the inner third up to the crease Fig one on the outer corner in a c shape just up to the crease, Vibrant Grape blown out above the crease blending out into the white, and Shadowy Lady to darken the outer edge!! I really liked this look!! I think today I will make my first video and use this look! I’m nervous, but ready to join the wonderful world of YouTube!! Any advice?

All the time. I love the matte look. I like my looks to be sharp and chic. Im not much into shimmer. I do mix up my shaods though. I have a lot for matte, frosts and veluxe pearls.

Rebecca Avatar

I like to mix it up too. And I prefer a matte shadow for highlighting or anywhere above the crease. An all-over, from lashes to brows shimmer usually looks a little too drag queen in my opinion.

I always incorporate at least one matte e/s, its essential to create a balance in make-up.
So if I put shimmery/glitter on my eyelid, Ill use a matte e/s for the highlight on the brow bone or the external V, depending on how shinny the eyelid is.
On the other side, if I use mainly matte e/s, Ill use a shimmery one to highlight the browbone or the inner corner of the eye.

I like matte shadows, as it is sophisticated and I like the velvety finish to it. I especially like to use mattes for the crease and a matte nude colour for brow bone highlight. My favourite mattes are MAC matte and matte2.

Now we moved into our new apartments that has a lot of bright lights, I found out MAC lustre formula and Mineralized eyeshadows are just too much, making me look like a drag queen. Now I prefer using matte shadows (matte2 or MUFE mattes, not MAC matte!) for contouring and a bit of shimmer for highlighting.

Lorna Avatar

I do love them but only certain colors. A lot of matte eye shadows can seem flat if it doesn’t have a smooth or deep color to it. I think a lot of times adding shimmer is just a way cosmetics companies take regular colors and make them attractive and wearable. I do hate chunky glitter and shades that are too shimmery.

inuchan Avatar

I tend to use shimmer eyeshadows only. I wear glasses, and I feel like each time I try matte ES, it kinda dulls out my eyes, while shimmer ES opens it.
