Hit List: Glitter Eyeshadow with the Least Fallout
What’s the Glitter Eyeshadow with the Least Fallout that you’ve tried?
Share your pick! And don’t forget to share why 🙂
My top picks… Urban Decay Moondusts, some of Tom Ford’s glittery shades (in the palettes), some of Dior’s… The problem is that it is not consistent for either Tom Ford or Dior in my experience.
Glitter eyeshadows from Dior Artistry Palette. Gel-like. Great to wear on top of an eyeshadow.
I don’t typically experience any fallout, regardless of brand, but that has more to do with technique. I always use a base (my lids are dry, so even “regular” shadows need something to grab onto), and using a flat, firm brush, glide the product along the lid, in *one* direction. The same goes for picking up product from the pan; “swirling” a brush in the product will only dislodge more glitter, which will lead to more fallout. For looser/drier shadows, a damp brush can help. Finally, once the product is on the eye, I never blend, as that will cause fallout, and glitter shadows aren’t meant to be blended out. It seems like these steps are “time consuming extras”, but when I follow them, it actually takes less time & effort than having to clean up the mess.
Yep, I agree that technique is key – I have the best luck patting glitter or glittery shadows onto a sticky base.
I agree completely. I use the same method you do & experience no fall-out. I do blend though. Although it more of a smudge than a blend. Just to get rid of the hard line.
Sephora Queen for a Day! GORGEOUS shade, so sparkly! Amazing to use on top of dark eyeshadows!
Inglot double shine is usually good. MAC luster doesn’t really fallout but the quality is really poor.
Judith, try MAC’s Lustre shadows over a base like UD Sin Primer Potion (or another glittery base depending on the colour). I loved Tempting but was so disappointed in how poorly it “translated” when applied. Then I used SIN UDPP underneath and it was like a miracle (well, an eye shadow miracle, at least).
Hi Mariella. Thanks for the tip, I’ll try again with the one I already have!
Lit cosmetics glitters are amazing and totally safe for the eyes. They have an insane choice of colours, sometimes making it hard to pick. Once applied (which is super easy) they stay put all day. Brilliant. Are definitely for more of a glam, evening/party look. But if you are like me then anything goes really! Just wish they were more easily available in UK
I wouldn’t know! But I will definitely browse the comments to find out! 😉
I like Chanel’s. They have good bases for the glitter to hold on to and I haven’t experienced fallout, maybe a little migration.
I don’t usually find that fallout is a problem. Having said that, I haven’t tried a HUGE number of different brands, and I do know that I get a bit more fallout with Lancome than I do with Urban Decay… but it’s a small effect!
The best one was Stila’s original Jewel Palette (with 4 shades). Without the primer or any kind of base, it would just stick until I remove it at night. And no fall outs. Too bad Stila had decided to discontinue this product after a short period of time to renew the formula but it has not been the same. Stila, seriously, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…
I recently purchased Tom Ford’s She Wolf palette, which contains a glitter shadow. I’ve had no problem with it lasting AT ALL! I use my finger and press it in the inner corner of my eye, which results in a sexy, but not overdone look. I also have the Urban Decay Vice Palette, and have used the glitter shadow with the same results. I also use the Urban Decay eye primer before applying my shadow, and it truly lasts ALL DAY!
I think any and every brand has glitter shadows that make a mess on the face but overall, I’ve found MAC’s frost finish shadow (their glitteriest, besides pigments, I think) to be fairly reliable in terms of not shedding all day long all over my face. Dior and Clarins have glitter shadows that don’t have a lot of fallout but they also have some that do and I guess that’s what I mean – in any brand, there are shades that can be a problem. It’s one reason (among many) that I so, SO love Nars Kauai….that golden side is UD Maui Wowie in every respect EXCEPT the glitter fallout.
I agree that MAC’s frost shadows are reliable. I love glitter, so I usually leave it behind me like pixie dust. My husband was telling me today that he looked down at his hands at work and glitter was all over them. We decided it might not even be product, but just me…I use MAC fluidlines and paint pots a lot and those have virtually no fallout.
I’ve had good success with the Chanel eyeshadow pots. They are glittery but in a subtle way. I love using them! I do put an eyeshadow base on my lids and undereyes, also from Chanel. The combo works great to keep the co,or in p,ace for 8-10 hours, in my experience.
I own a Guerlain eyeshadow duo called ” Two Lovely” it’s a beautiful sparkly teal that I thought for sure would be fallout city. But it adheres well and last all day over primer. I’m quite impressed as it very glittery.
Bobbi brown taupe sparkle and illamasqua beguile (on top of maybelline color tattoo)
Shu Uemura silk smooth glitter eyeshadows have the least fallout in my experience, when used alone.
Kat Von D and the pigmentation is incredible!
