Look: Bobbi Brown Earth Metal Palette & Pewter Eyeshadow

I really wanted to use Bobbi Brown’s Pewter Chrome Eyeshadow, and I figured I might as well incorporate her Earth Metal Palette, too… so, I did! Let me tell you one thing about pewter-colored eyeshadow: it can be difficult figuring out how to pair cheeks and lips with it!

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: MAC Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Bobbi Brown Pewter Chrome Eyeshadow (pewter shimmer), Bobbi Brown Autumn Eyeshadow (light greenish gold), Bobbi Brown Antique Gold Eyeshadow (coppery bronze), Bobbi Brown Earth Metal Eyeshadow (plummy brown), Bobbi Brown Sunset Gold Eyeshadow (melon-gold), L’Oreal HIP Silver Lightning Chrome Eyeliner (silver), L’Oreal HIP Black Shock Chrome Eyeliner (black), MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara (black)
  • Face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation
  • Cheeks: MAC Stark Naked blush (plum-berry)
  • Lips: Chanel Santal Rouge Allure Laque (peachy), Guerlain Rubis Rose KissKiss Gloss (brownish plum)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Bobbi Brown Pewter eyeshadow on the inner half of the lid. Apply Bobbi Brown Autumn eyeshadow to the middle portion of the lid. On the outer third of the lid, layer on Bobbi Brown Antique Gold eyeshadow with the 239. Darken crease with Bobbi Brown Earth Metal eyeshadow using the 226. Sweep Bobbi Brown Sunset Gold eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with L’Oreal HIP Silver Lightning and Black Shock Liner (layer on Silver Lightning first, then smudge Black Shock on top) on lower lash line.  Finally, smudge Bobbi Brown Pewter eyeshadow on the lower lash line with the 219.  Apply a few coats of MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with MAC Stark Naked blush using the 129, then buff out color with the 182. Apply Chanel Santal Rouge Allure Laque to lips, and then top with Guerlain Rubis Rose KissKiss Gloss for color and shine.

It really suits you. 🙂 I’m not sure I’m tempted enough to buy it though. I’m loving wearing Bare Escentuals wet at the moment.

I like Santal, the last time I was at the Chanel counter, it was between Santal or Ming. The girl convinced me to get Ming which I really like, but Santal is next on my list when I have room in my budget.

You look so pretty, Christine! I’m still deciding whether or not to get BB’s palette.

Btw, how do you like the Guerlain’s foundation? I was thinking of trying that foundation with the F&F @ Sephora. I’m still looking for the right foundation. I really want a foundation that feels like nothing on my skin. I’ve been using Giorgio Armani luminous skin foundation. It feels wonderful on my face but I don’t think I look very natural with it. Thanks for your help!

If it was just shadows, I’d say it’s a good palette. But those damn lip colors really just don’t do it for me!

I loveeee the Guerlain foundation. It’s been my new go-to for the past month! It’s so lightweight and soft and like… glowy but not oily (and trust me, I tend to dislike glowy foundations!).

Which foundation are you using? Parure Extreme Luminous Extreme Wear Foundation or Parure Extreme Luminous Extreme Wear Foundation? I hate to spend more money on foundation but I am so tempted to get it now!!!!

I cannot get over how gorgeous this is. Best. Neutral look. Ever. The colors are great, but you also did a really brilliant job coordinating and blending them. I really wish I had shadows that were comparable to these, since I can’t really justify springing for all the individuals and the palette…but maybe I’ll pick up that Pewter at some point. It is awfully nice.

I love love love how you blend the colors together! And I like how it doesn’t look too heavy in the full face picture – it looks like it could be worn during the day or night – so versatile!

BTW I always love looking your looks, especially for the eyes because you take those really close-up shots of your eyes. And I’ve NEVER seen anyone with eyes that look like yours! I mean that bubbly, hazel-brown pattern. Your eyes are so unique and beautiful. :]

Thanks so much, Kurisu! I wanted to use the new palette and not be too blah/neutral, just because I know Bobbi Brown has that reputation, and I wanted to see it go a little more amped up, y’know?

Glad you like the close-ups! Haha! I think my eye SUPER CLOSE UP (like the raw photos) looks like DNA or something crazy… tree roots maybe. A lot of people say they look like they have leopard spots 😀 Thank you!

I wish I could get this palette, it’s gorgeous! I loved the pewter e/s right away from your post the other day. Then in this look, while the whole look is beautiful(!), I love the pop on the lower lash line. I read the details and…it was the pewter! 🙂 I want to get that one if anything 🙂
Thanks for doing this look! 🙂

This is simple but lovely. I like how you dont wear thick black eyeliner on your upper lashline. Some people kind of overdo that or think a look isnt finished with that thick line there but I prefer the way you do it. Just curious, whats your reason for keeping it simple on the upper lashline?

Christine Avatar

Thanks, Sally!

My upper lash line is really sensitive – for whatever reason, either the movement of a pencil/brush on the area or the product itself, but either way, it causes my my lash line to swell up and get a bit red and swollen. I do it from time to time, but it usually means the look is purely for blogging purposes and I remove as soon as I’ve taken photos to avoid too much swelling (it usually lasts 4-12 hours).
