Round-up: Milani Rose Powder Blush Reviews & Photos
Milani Rose Powder Blush ($7.99 for 0.60 oz.) introduced four new and limited edition shades for spring. Unfortunately, all four of them were misses for me. The colors were gorgeous, and the design delicate and lovely in the pan, but the performance was where this product fell–and fell hard. The texture of all four shades was incredibly powdery and dry, and three of the four shades also felt like they had chalky bases (maybe an excess of talc). They’re the type of product that really needs help to perform decently, so if you’re someone who typically applies blush over a cream or liquid foundation, doesn’t mind having to spend a little time blending and evening out the blush, then maybe they’re still worth considering, but I really don’t think they’re worth the work. I would steer you in the direction of Delizioso Pink or Bella Rosa, both intensely pigmented blushes that performed well (both by Milani).
Coral Cove and Lady Rouge look so nice, it’s such a shame!
I know! 🙁
When I first heard about these, I wasn’t interested since last year’s Coming Up Roses blushes were a big disappointment for me; they looked great in the pan but had absolutely no staying power whatsoever. Honestly, I felt that if I sneezed after I applied them, they came off! So different from Miani’s baked blushes, which are terrific.
But then I read positive reviews on Project Swatch and Vampy Varnish, so I went ahead an ordered all four of the new Rose blushes direct from Milani. I’ve just received them this week and have yet to try them — but now I’m not expecting much.
A couple of readers have had positive experiences and a few have had similar ones to mine, so I don’t know if there is some variation or it could just come down to how you’re applying it. My best advice is apply over a liquid/cream foundation (or when your moisturizer is still drying down, if you don’t wear foundation) and just be prepared for some extra blending–and if you’re applying over a damp base of any type, build up, because when it sticks, it is pigmented (the trouble is getting it to stick!).
I guess the product sucks but they all look so beautiful on you! Very tempting because of that… all your fault 😛 (kidding)
LOL! Sometimes I’m torn between making them look right applied and just going, “This is what it will probably look like unless you blend for five minutes!”
<3 Coral Cove!
I like the color!
What a shame about these rose powder blushes.. they look cute like the Clinique ones. Thanks to you I picked up both the matte baked blushes 😛 I’ve only tried Delizioso Pink and MAN is it pigmented… the first time I applied it I looked like a clown.
It’s so pigmented!! Just a teeny tiny amount is all you need.
I was so excited when these blushes were coming back again, but the reviews just made me sad LOL
I hadn’t tried them before, so I was excited to try these only to get disappointing results!
Then I must be the exception here because I bought Tea Rose last night and I’m really liking it so far today. I didn’t get any powdery effect (oh I’m NW45ish) and so far it’s lasted quite nicely on me over my foundation (maybe because I’m wearing a creme foundation??). I will also definitely be picking up both the pink and the Bella Rosa ones. I gotta say generally I love Milani blushes and their Luminoso rocks my world! lol
I’m glad yours is working out for you, Kica! 🙂
Christine, thanks for your review. I was excited to try this and picked up the coral color from Walgreens. I do use liquid foundation and the pigmentation look great when I put it on in the morning. However, I was horrified by mid day when I looked in the mirror and saw two peach blotches on my cheeks. I definitely blended out the blush in the a.m. but unfortunately I didn’t do a good enough job. This Blush requires more babysitting than I would like. I returned it to the store.
Oh no!! That’s the worst – it looks great when you start and then drastically changes!
Coral Cove and Tea Rose are so gorgeous!
Both shades are really nice colors!
I like the colours of Lady Rouge and Tea Rose – It’s a shame they didn’t apply more evenly for you!
I know! You win some, you lose some, I guess!
I just love everything about the new round-ups!
Love it!!
Thank you!
Blah! I was super excited about these, but now not so much. Oh well, my local Walgreens has a miserable selection of Milani that they rarely restock, so I guess I won’t be wasting as much time hopelessly stalking the displays. Haha!
So over stalking drugstores for the new LE products, lol!
Coral Cove looks really nice on you 🙂
Thanks, Tabitha!
I bought the coral one the other day and was not expecting much since I had read they are very powdery. It is powdery when swatched on my hand but it is so pigmented that i only needed a dab on my cheeks and it looks great and had great staying power. I really like it. It’s not the most luxurious of textures but that can happen at the department store too. Sorry yours did not work out for you.
I’m glad it’s working out for you, Priscilla!
Corals do suit you so beautifully, Christine!!!
Thanks, Abigail! 🙂
