think so in the cheek stain pix, but they were right @ the big S.

got the matte palette, which is fairly neutral, rather than SPRING-Y. Great for light to medium, but doubt that it would be suitable for darker skintones.

Sorry, Tarte. I’ve been with you almost since the beginning of the brand, but I can’t be bothering with you and your cheek stain size shenanigans. Same price, half the product (possibly a third – I seem to dimly remember it was 1.5 ounces back in the day), plus the comment dust up over at Sephora? Sorry, old friend. You’ve changed.

I’m sure your swatches will be beyond beautiful, Christine! That, sadly, will be the extent to which I enjoy Tarte from now on.

Breanna Avatar

I am extremely upset with Tarte for their shenanigans with the cheek stains. Effectively charging TWICE AS MUCH for them? And then babbling about how they actually cost the same because they think everyone throws them out after a year? AND fluffing the ratings on Sephora’s website?!

I’m sorry Tarte, but you need to get your stuff together and own up to exactly why you’re doing this. No more BS.

Side note, Macy’s and Amazon still have the old size as far as I know.

I agree, Breanna. While I’d prefer more for my money, I can take in stride Tarte reducing the amount while keeping the same price. Many other brands have done this as well, although few as drastically as cutting the product to half its former size.

But what does sour my opinion of Tarte is having ringers leave obvious shills for their product on Sephora, the claim that the product weight is unchanged, and how other reviewers have mentioned their criticism have been deleted. I’ve been loyal to Tarte’s cheek stains for years (ever since the original product was 1.5 oz!) but the way the company is behaving right now isn’t sitting well with me. I have plenty of product for now, but I don’t know whether I’m be replacing them once they run out.

I gotta admit, I’m not a huge fan of the cheek stains. But I did purchase the BeMattenificent Palette and it’s really nice, especially the blush.

I’m excited for the Lipsurgence Power Pigment!!! I’m not a fan of playing over $15 on sheer colours which is why I’ve passed on these Tarte pencils in the past but I think I need Tipsy in my life. (Love the blush!)

I get the feeling that the packaging is going to close to the Annabelle TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayon in size.

I absolutely love my Tarte powder blushes so I’m most keen to give these a try in the same shades I love in the powder version – Natural Beauty and Blushing Bride, and True Love and Flush look very “want-able” too. I’m also keen to try the Maracuja eye treatment. The only Tarte shadow I have came in the Aqualilies palette and they are such great quality that I’d be tempted by the eye and cheek palette except that the blush shade isn’t for me.

Ooooooh my! I think this is one of the more exciting Spring launches for me! In general, Spring collections don’t really call to me like summer because softer shades and pastels aren’t that flatting on my skin tone but Tarte’s new releases look amazing! I am SO excited about the new Cheek Stains. I still have not tried them yet but my sister has and loves them and they look so natural and pretty on her! I’m definitely eyeing Tipsy and Blushing Bride!

Lindsay Avatar

I love Tarte but I’m not buying anything from them again. Their behavior has been absolutely terrible and the fact that they’ve left obvious reviews to increase their ratings at Sephora is shameful. The fact that Sephora is deleting negative reviews is even more shameful. I’m definitely reconsidering buying from them as well.

I get that Tarte needs to make money and if their new .5 ounce cheek stains were $22-24 I probably wouldn’t have cared. A price increase of 50% slipped in with a product and packaging reformulation is clumsy, careless and shows an obvious disregard for their customers..

Don’t fall for it.

hmmm i had no idea looks like i will be passing on the stain set…i remember
my first stain from them it lasted forever.
not cool thank you Temptalia readers for the scoop!

Just purchased a Lipsurgence in True Love and gotta say for the price it’s a disappointment. The color is gorgeous, well-described as a watermelon red, but the product is drying and in no way imparts moisture. At best I would say it gives a matte quality but really it’s too waxy to even say that. I think I’ll be able to do damage control by just being hardcore with using a lip balm when I wear it but still kind of a bust.

Angela Avatar

I purchased the matte palette, and I am so disappointed! I have an olive/tan skintone, and those eyeshadow colors do not show up on me at all. The darkest shadow (purple), and the liners show up fine, but the other 5 shadows just are not pigmented on my skin. Also, the blush is way too sheer.
The palette might be good for those with fair & light skintones, but anything darker, and nothing will show up. I so wanted to love the palette, too 🙁

I’ve used these for years and their size long outlasted the abilities of their preservatives. I used to hate throwing away so much product, but I’m not going to chance getting sick from makeup. The more “natural” (so to speak) the product, the shorter its life span.

While I am glad to see these stains in a more compact size, I’d be happier if they could have knocked a few dollars off the price tag; even if it was a temporary price cut. It would have helped ease the initial sticker shock. Tarte claims they began selling this size in 2012, but somehow I managed to miss buying the smaller size until now.

The size change and price aren’t surprising since Tarte has been purchased by a large company. This is disappointing, but it’s really unfortunate the new management had to change things yet claim they are the same. I have been using Tipsy blush for over 10 years, in both the stain and the clay powder. Believe me, Tipsy in the stain is absolutely NOT the same color it was prior to the new packaging. TIpsy is now loaded with white glitter and it has barely any peachy tint. It actually looks white on my medium olive skin. After losing Tickled, Achiote, and True Blood, I was horrified when I tested the new Tipsy. What is the point of giving it the old name? Do they think we won’t notice the obvious color change?

Recently I purchased Blissful, which, again, is definitely NOT the same color as the one in the old packaging. The new one is more gel-like, and it has more coral pigment. In this case I like it better, and I’m very happy with it. Still…why not give it a new name for a new color?
