What kind of look would you wear to an office holiday party?

What kind of look would you wear to an office holiday party? Share!
If it was in the evening, I would do a soft smoky eye, and then maybe a muted berry lip, assuming this wasn’t an ultra-conservative environment!

Just came back from one and all the ladies were decked out with full face and dramatic smokey eyes. I think just about every lady were wearing falsies. Everyone looked lovely!!

Wow that would be a fun place for me. Everyone in my office does the all-American natural look. Grant it – some of them have it down and look so preppy it’s amazing, but I don’t think any of us would dare to do the lashes or a full smoked eye.

I’m fortunate to work in an environment where I could, in principle, wear anything I liked…

Part of me wants to bust out the red and green eyeshadow with gold lips (and see if there’s a way I can make that work, hah!)…

…but I’d probably end up going with golden neutral eyeshadow, a good solid party cat flick eyeliner (black, liquid liner) and some bold, maybe a bit sparkly red lips. My take on ‘silver-screen siren’ for Christmas 🙂 Some Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in Fantasme may be involved on browbone/collarbones…

Got to be a bit careful though – it’s still sunny and light here after 8pm, and you don’t want to look too glammed up if it’s a barbeque party 😛 Ah, the challenges of summer Christmas!

It really depends on the type of party. If it’s a more intimate gathering, with only my immediate co-workers, I’d be more inclined to go all out. However, if there’s a chance I’d be introduced to upper-management, or those on the “corporate” end, keeping things neutral & professional would be the better option. In that case, I’d keep the eyes neutral, perhaps a bit of sparkle/shimmer, natural blush, and at most, a red lip. You never know what sort of “indiscretion” may jeopardize a promotion, and whether we like it, or not, makeup can be a point of contention, and make a lasting impression.

I don’t work in an office but hypothetically speaking, I think I would try a winged black eyeliner and a rich berry-coloured lipstick or stain (and gold and glowy everywhere else, which looks very natural on my NC40-42 skin tone). My favourite berry lipstick for winter is Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 09, but I just bought Sleek’s Cranberry lipstick and Port lip tar, so I might try those out. It’s a holiday party so I don’t think there would be any rules, really…

We had our christmas party on Friday afternoon with potato salad, sausages and cake afterwards.
I wore a workfriendly smokey eye with macs Shale and Laura Mercier lipgloss in Babydoll.

By Day I typically wear liner, contour or blush, and lip gloss. For a party, I’d wear mascara and perhaps add a crease shadow for definition in the photos.

By Night: I do a glam eye with a no-makeup-makeup face and soft lip OR
the wine cheeks and lips (not overly deep) with just pure black liner and mascara on the eye.

I rarely have time to get ready for these things so it works.

My office environment is pretty lax (think jeans everyday), so people can definitely get away with a little more… I saw multiple ladies with green eyeshadow and false lashes. 🙂 Me, I’m a little less daring since I haven’t been there very long, so I wore a gold and brown eye look with a little bit of smudgy black liner, and a red lip.
