Temptalia Asks You - Do you ever feel like you get stuck in a makeup rut?

Do you ever feel like you get stuck in a makeup rut? What do you do to get out of it?

.

Sometimes, but I kind of recognize that I do my makeup a certain way because I like it that way, too. I always just wait for something to inspire me 🙂

Yes, sometimes. Im basically always in a hurry, so I dont have time to experiment and always grab the first items I know will work. So I end up using the same make-up products everyday.

I was for a while; just used the same colours every day but I did love them. Then I started to read blogs (like this one!) and started to watch youtube videos for more inspiration. Then my makeup skills expanded… as did my collection 🙂 Now with so many colours and options I never feel in a rut.

I kind of do, because I only wear certain colours most of the time, like pink, purple, grey and blue, so limit my make up colours too, and tend to wear the same colour eye make up / blush / lip colour. Also keep meaning to wear bolder lips, but for that Id need to tone down the eyes, and I always forget or just get carried away with my eye make up, lol.

Yeah, sometimes I get stuck doing a brown/taupe smoky eye day after day and then I usually shop my stash. Some product or color will pop out at me and Ill try something new. Looking at magazines helps me, too.

Rut??? No not really, I like my makeup a certain way as well and find that I mostly use the same process of application but I shake it up a bit with color combinations (eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, blush/bronzer, liners, etc.)and new or different products which feels to me like a fresher approach. Inspiration for me comes from the catwalks, designers, etc. but then I try to bring it down and put my my spin on it so it feels like for the everyday woman like me (except when I am going out – sometimes I automatically turn into not so much of the everyday woman 🙂

Yeah, sometimes I have this feeling. I usually wear a pink natural makeup in day time and its always suit for any occasion, especially easy when Im in a hurry. But, sometimes a I need a different makeup cause I dont want to get stuck in the makeup rut 🙂

Awhile back yes. I used to only wear foundation, beigey gold eyeshadow, liner, mascara and MAC Cherish lipstick. It was really blah, but it kept it easy for getting ready for school. At 6:30am with 20 minutes to do a face run to the bus stop, my creative juices just didnt flow 😉 Now, Im unlikely to wear the exact same look from a previous day. I may tweak it with variations in color or products to see which works better.

Not anymore. I used to do either color or a neutral eye, but now I add pops of color to my brown & gray eye looks. Love eyeshadows like Nars Iceland, or pigments that can be used to add “pops” of color to any eye look. I get bored easily. But I play with what I was born with. I won’t do a really beige-nude lip, and emphasize my eyes to compensate. Takes too much energy.

I wouldn’t actually call it a rut but more of routine because sometimes I have to use the tried and true methods and colours. Sometimes I would use the same colours and products a lot because I really love the colours. I may do a similar look but change up the colours, textures, application techniques and colour placement.

The lighting in the bathroom is HORRID! I’ve been going through the same routine for the past 3 weeks and really need to snap out of it, I think thats my weekend project, getting myseof out of this makeup rut!
