How often do you practice applying makeup?
How often do you practice applying makeup? (Presumably when you’re not knee-deep in tissues snuggled in bed; when you’re sick and you’re still heading out the door somewhere.)
Every time I apply it is really practice! Always room for improvement, and if you’re regularly trying new products, color combinations, tools, placement, etc., then it’s always something a little different or new!

I’m always practicing whenever I put make-up on, especially foundation and winged eyeliner. Practice makes perfect (and faster!).
Well like you said every time I apply it! I put makeup on 5-6 days a week. Occasionally I will try more complex looks for practice on days when I’m not leaving the house. 🙂
It’s almost every time I apply!!
The problem with working at home (freelancer here) is that most of my time is spent indoors so I don’t always get the opportunity to wear makeup. So…. I just wear my makeup at home at least 3 to 4 times a week. I guess you can call that “makeup practice” 😉
I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin, so I only wear makeup when I go to work. I’m a freelancer, so I don’t leave my house often, only once or twice a week. That’s my ‘practice time’ but I’d love to have better skin to practice on!
I’ve been practicing for 40 years 🙂 Starting to get good at it!
I’ve been “practicing” for 55 years. Do you think there’s hope for me? LOL I wear makeup most days and enjoy applying it so I’m always learning.
I practice doing makeup almost everyday. It’s very therapeutic playing around in all sorts of colorful paraphernalia. It brings out the child in me.
The only time I really “practice” is if I want to try a new look for a special occasion or party. Then I’ll do a dry run before hand.
I definitely practice every time I put my makeup on. Although every once in a while I will sit down and practice with liquid liner.
Well, I do my own makeup pretty much 5-6 days a week but I already know how to make my own face look good, so I might experiment a little but that’s not really practice in my book.
I guess whenever I am applying makeup on someone else… taking into account a different skin tone and condition, using colours that suit them, different eye shapes and face structures and dealing with their inevitable twitching and blinking (LOL) – that’s all good practice!
Everyday application is practice.
I think everyone should study their eye shape and learn different ways to apply eye makeup. It took a long time to learn how to apply eyeshadow the way I like it on my asian deeply hooded eyes.
Everyday is an opportunity for practice. I do not set specific times to ‘play’ with makeup, rather let it happen when the it happens. I am constantly striving for improvement in my techniques with the exception of those moments where other obligations or time is pressing. I feel I’ve come a long way in the last year thanks to lots of excellent advice, plenty of reading and observing, and Temptalia, of course 😀
Actually, I like to practice at night right before I take all my makeup off. This has helped me out a lot with applying winged liquid eyeliner and lipstick. It’s also fun to try out crazy eyeshadow colors that I usually don’t have the guts for when I have to be at work in 5 minutes. 🙂
Its almost everytime for me tooo.. unless i am donning the same look for some function and had no time to try something new!! 🙂
Everyday and if i could it will be all the time. I wish i have a career in cosmetics. Its my passion <3
Layering works well on me and is also fun. I guess I could consider that practice. So – three times a week.
