Sephora Snakeskin Dress (17) & Sun Tan (08) Contour Eye Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Sephora Snakeskin Dress (17) Contour Eye Pencil
Sephora Snakeskin Dress (17) Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “khaki.” It’s an olive green with a golden shimmer and pearly finish. It had so-so color payoff in a single pass, and it was buildable to semi-opaque color. It wore well for eight and a half hours on my lash line (which is good wear but is short of the 12-hour wear promised). Laura Mercier Sage (P, $24.00) is matte. Urban Decay Stash (P, $19.00) is browner. MAC Forever Green (P, $16.00) is very similar. bareMinerals 10AM (LE, $15.00) is browner, darker. See comparison swatches.
Sun Tan (08) Contour Eye Pencil ($9.00 for 0.04 oz.) is described as a “copper.” It is a muted, copper bronze with flecks of gold shimmer and a metallic finish. It had good color payoff in a single pass, and it layered well to fully opaque color. This shade lasted for almost ten hours on my lash line, which is longer than most eyeliners but not the 12-hours advertised. Urban Decay Scorch (P, $19.00) is slightly darker. MAC Going for Gold (LE, $16.00) is yellower. MAC Handforged (P, $16.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
I really like Sephora’s eyeliners for their consistency and color payoff, even if they don’t wear the full 12-hours promised, because they are some of the longer-wearing eyeliners I have, period.

Christine, I have never seen that spectacular 5 A.M. liner from Bare Minerals except for here, at Temptalia. I am wondering if you noticed anything in Sephora’s lineup of these liners that comes even close to that colour. It was so stunning and, of course, it’s not available and, also of course, I am so wanting to be able to get something like it.
I haven’t yet found a dupe for it yet! 🙁
Snakeskin is Amazing. I want it. I need it.
It’s a great shade!
I nearly bought it today, but I’m glad I passed because when I compared the heavy swatch I did on my hand (so it would last til I got home), I saw that it’s basically a dead ringer for MAC Rosemary and Thyme (which is discontinued or maybe was LE but at least now, when I use it up, I know what to get to replace it). I love the Sephora pencils I have. Some wear better than others but all have been very good purchases.
Wow, both of these are absolutely stunning. I can imagine they look gorgeous layered as well.
I bet they would!
Both of these pencils are really pretty! I really love the olive one!
That was my favorite of the two, as well!
I liekd Sephora Snake skin more. Such a gorgeous Olive green shade… though colorpayoff is disappointing.. UD might be a better option. 🙂
Since both need layering, it’s a wash, really 🙂
Have you used any of these sephora liners in the waterline? If so, how do they fare?
Some of them, yes – they vary from four to six hours for me usually!
I think they actually say in very, very small print that they’re not for waterline use (at least the one I have – which are glittery – do say this!)
Yeah, I expect that the glittery ones, at the very least, are not water line safe but not sure if the other shades are at all!
Sun Tan looks like such a gorgeous gold color! Can’t stop looking at it! Will go purchase it as soon as possible.
Enjoy it!!
Both of these shades look amazing!
Agreed!
I have the Snakeskin Dress eyeshadow -which I bought after reading about it here and love, so to me buying the eye pencil would be a little redundant. It’s so nice that Sephora has some quality eye makeup out right now!
I think it would be redundant – the eyeshadow is fantastic and so pigmented, it could work well as an eyeliner!
both will be mine!!! evil laughter!!
Haha!
They have an excellent quality and very affordable, i think #12 Cappuccino is very close to Laura Mercier kohl pencil in Black Gold and Giorgio Armani #24 Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow
Thank you for sharing those dupes!
