Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire So Crazy! Perfumed Shimmer Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire So Crazy! Perfumed Shimmer Powder
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire So Crazy! Perfumed Shimmer Powder ($89.00 for 0.61 oz.) is a shimmering, pale pink powder scented with a sweet cherries and creamy almond. It’s a decadent, luxurious vanity treat–by no means a must-have, but it’s a nice-to-have if you go out and dress in little black dresses. The way the shimmer dances in the light is exquisite–really–and it dances, glimmers, and sparkles all at once and looks quite lovely on the body (shoulders, decolletage, legs). The shimmer is like micro-sparkle; larger than shimmer, smaller than sparkle and glitter. On the face, I think it can be too over-the-top unless you love sparkle, but it’s a product that works really well in hair, on arms, shoulders, legs, and so on.
One spray held about six to eight inches away, and the result is a light dusting of fairy dust all over the skin. One spray held closer to the skin (one to inches away) will yield more concentrated shimmer and color. To get a heavier swatch of product, I sprayed twice close to the skin, so you can see the bluish-pink color base of the product, but it’s virtually translucent when applied normally.

Eh…who wears glittery/ shimmer powder though?
There’s definitely a market for shimmer/glitter powders!
These are only released as part of the holiday collection and are meant for parties or a fun evening out on the town. Think New Year’s Eve 🙂
Smells bad and covers your body (and most likely your floor) in glitter and possibly a weird pink dust? No thanks! This is something I expect to see at the drugstore (targeted at kids), definitely not from a high-end brand like Guerlain.
Guerlain releases a perfumed body shimmer every holiday, I believe?
Yes Christine but Vol de Nuit and Liu were more classy. The Holiday 2013 collection looks very cheap to me, the target is clearly Young women 20-30 though and la Petite Robe Noire is a best-seller, that is number one for 2013 in fact. I don’t know if the powder would look good in a drugstore but Guerlain should have launched a classy collection, which obviously is not the case. Sad all the more sad as Voilette de Madame is really very pretty indeed.
Different strokes for different folks! 🙂 It’s fine that you don’t like it and I’m sad that though you liked previous years, this one doesn’t appeal to you, but please be respectful of those that might – there’s no need to put down an entire age group.
Yes of course 😉
Woah!! Guerlain’s perfumes are known for their wonderful scents, and it is one of the best high-end brands out there. They do release shimmer powders every holiday, too.
I just want to make it clear that I have nothing against Guerlain perfume in general. “Sweet cherries and creamy almond” is what nearly made me gag, most likely because a lot of cough syrup and other liquid medicine in my country have this fake cherry and almond scent and taste. I love most Guerlain makeup because it’s so classy and elegant, and in my opinion this product is the exact opposite.
I don’t like cherry anything generally, but it definitely doesn’t smell like cherry cough syrup.
As someone who has spent nearly $2000 at Sephora last month, $89 is RIDICULOUS for body glitter. Still pretty, I’ll swatch it if it’s in stores.
Wow, what a great haul 🙂
Oh my, I think I may need this in my life! Hopefully it’ll come to the UK as if not I may need to try and get this sent out to me by a friend from over the pond. 😛
If Guerlain’s holiday collections normally do, it should 🙂
Guerlain has distribution deals with Selfridges, if you can get to London one afternoon you should be fine!
This is insane.. such a grgs packaging and those dancing shimmersss… 😀
Loved it totallyy!!
Happy you liked it, Poo!
Sounds fabulous! Would love to see this in action; spraying a cloud of glittering perfume is something you’d see in a princess fairytale.
If there was a musical number, it would be 😉
I really don’t whether I should love or hate this… I am not crazy about the bottle, to be honest, and the powder itself is also kind of…I don’t know…off.
If it’s not instant love, no need for it 🙂
A bit of body shimmer is beautiful on skin for formal or special holiday events. Okay, rarely do I bitch about prices, but in this case, I think I the price is absolutely outrageous. Buy a bottle of Scott Barnes Body Bling for half the price. Just an opinion.
There are definitely cheaper options out there!
Any dupes? I feel like Tarina Tarantino has something similar.
I’m not overly familiar with body shimmers since it’s not a product I wear so I’m never seeking them out. I know Benefit used to have one, but I don’t know if they still do. Tarina Tarantino has a Sparklicity Shimmer Dust.
Thanks for the review! I normally buy the Guerlain body powders every year as a special treat to myself. I usually wear them in my hair, on my collarbone and on my legs (if I’m not waering hosiery.) I’m probably going to skip this year since I’m iffy on the bottle (I just don’t like the cartoon dress thingy) but it’s nice to know the quality is still there, Have a great week!
Fun! 🙂 It’s definitely not worth it if you don’t love the packaging, as I see this is as part “want it on my vanity” and part “love the actual product” 🙂
Megan,
I have been thinking about getting one of they Guerlain powders one day. This is specifically appeals to be because of the packaging, but aside from the year end parties, what do you use them for? If you buy them every year, I’m assuming you use them often? Please do share alternative uses, as that might be the little shove I need to get this one. Thanks!
I love the bottle it’s so feminine.
Glad you liked it, Chantel!
I like the idea of this for a Christmas party or something, but I know it is something I would never use.
Same – I don’t have the lifestyle that merits this type of product (at this price point) since I wouldn’t use it often!
I do like it! I was disappointed with Meteorites in this collection, but this is quite nice. Only thing I’ll pick up some budget alternative, this is too expensive for a student ><
This wouldn’t be an item I’d splurge on since I don’t really have any fancy parties to go to, lol 😉
The price is too steep for me but I DO ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS! If I had no financial cares this would totally be in my shopping cart. <3 the EDP as well!
Nice! Do you have a bottle of the EDP?
Even at my age I just love a good sparkle!! Shimmer, glimmer what-have-you, it just makes me happy. I won’t purchase this because I think we have 2 bottles of TT Dust for my daughters but if I were younger……..it would be mine!!!
There’s no age that doesn’t deserve some sparkle 😉
Mmmmm cherries and almonds. I’ll have to give this a sniff. I like a little glitter around the holidays or special events.
Let me know what you think, Denise!
I am 31 now and this will still appeal to me if I was 61! I believe it might appeal to a certain type of taste but not a certain age group. My daughter is 9 and I KNOW the DESIGN (she loved the KIND of bottle as soon as she seen it on here the other day, she pointed it out) wouldn’t be her pick at all. I don’t think people realise that when a good review has been put out by a blogger that while it’s totally ok to not agree but sometimes it can sound like a disagreement is a put down to the person or people who do like it.
Very true, Rachael! 🙂
