5 Shades of Molten Gold

The one color that always tugs at my heart-strings is molten gold–that really rich, warm, almost orange-toned, shade of gold. It’s deep, rich, and pure luxury to me. I have so many favorites, but here are five permanent picks from me! (But Urban Decay Honey Eyeliner will always be a shade I miss desperately.)

  1. Inglot #430 — a rich, yellow gold with a frosted, metallic sheen–this eyeshadow has an incredible texture
  2. OCC Triptych — a vibrant, metallic gold for your lips (but if full intensity isn’t your thing, try it patted over a burgundy or red!)
  3. NARS Iskandar — a phenomenally pigmented cream eyeliner/eyeshadow with a gorgoeus finish
  4. Fyrinnae Aztec Gold — an intensely pigmented, dirty gold–I thought I’d throw one in that wasn’t quite as warm-toned that still held a lot of depth
  5. Sephora Girls Night Out — a rich, warm-toned gold with an orange-brown undertone and a frosted finish

Do you have any shades of molten gold?

i’ve got triptych, which i adore.
another very versatile molten gold is illamasqua solstice. it is good as eyeshadow, eyeshadow base, and also highlighter under foundation –> this is a tip from a makeup artist to conceal dark circles.

I love gold eyeshadows for brown eyes and on skin with yellow undertones as it looks very festive. My favourite ones: The Body Shop eye shimmer 02 is a light metallic gold and very long lasting even on my oily lids – therefore my favourite gold shadow ever! The MAC gold pigment (Pro) looks literally like molten gold and is a very unique gold shade in my opinion.

I love gold because it makes my eyes look SO blue, but it makes me look sickly because I’m so pale. I just can’t figure out how to wear it!

my top favourite is goldilux pigment by sugarpill. its the most vibrant golden color ever and it sparkles so beautifully! plus you can use it in so many different ways!

This is actually one of the few shades I stay far away from. I have an odd skintone that has a tinge of grey, so anything that even *hints* at orange is not a good idea. I think the closest I get is UD Half Baked, and only because it’s in both Naked palettes. I don’t wear it often, but I do play with it once in a while if I have either palette out, as I’m determined to get it to work, LOL. So far, I’ve found wearing this sort of shade with a deep plum or aubergine is at least “wearable” for me, though, and I plan to try it with some deep greens.

I really have to try some Fyrinnae colours! My favourite molten gold shade is undoubtedly Ellis Faas Bronze Eye Light. Yes, it’s called bronze, but it’s really more like an orange-toned gold. (Their gold shade is like a gold-green.) It’s incredible and looks like liquid metal on the eyes. YSL’s Gold Star eye liner is quite amazing too. I wish it hadn’t been limited edition!

While I have problems wearing gold on the eyes, weirdly enough, a touch of gold (or silver) lip gloss looks fine.
I even bought a Kryolan or Mehron (don’t remember which) metallic gold lipstick, just to dab very sparingly on my lips when I wear a deep dark burgundy lipstick, like MAC Media. I love the way it looks – it softens the dark lipstick, and gives a flattering “3-D” effect. This look is especially fun during the holidays – it even works with most reds.
