Rant & Rave: Opaque Lipgloss

Share: Tell us what you love and hate about Opaque Lipgloss!

my answer: When they are on the lighter side, they can end up looking milky or settling into lip lines! Sometimes they can also feel thick on the lips. I love the coverage, though, and they often last longer.

I don’t actually have much of a preference for or against them. I tend toward semi-opaque or sheerer glosses as a whole, but I have a few opaque ones hanging around. Opaque glosses do have more of a tendency to feather on me, especially if they’re darker shades, so I’ll generally wear them over a nude or similarly coloerd liner. So…I enjoy wearing them, but they do require more prep work. 🙂

Some like sheer gloss, others like opaque, and still others like heavily pigmented. I like the idea of havingplenty of options on the market for everyone. Personally, I like having a variety on hand, as well, and playing with combination of gloss & lipstick/lip pencil.

I love highly-pigmented/opaque glosses. After a few hours, my lipstick has worn off enough that a good gloss can revitalize it in a big way. My favorite one happens to be super cheap, too: NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu, a perfect nudey-peachy-rosy beige that covers in one swipe and plays well with every lipstick I own (which are all in same color family). I have about 5 of them at any given time, so there’s always one in my purse, car, makeup drawer and travel bag.

I love opaque lipgloss! More comfortable than lipstick, but can pack the same pigmentation punch. I feel like I only need one or two sheer lipglosses, because they generally look so similar.

I am a HUGE fan of opaque gloss, and my lip color collection is pretty much comprised of opaque gloss. I attempted to try lipsticks, but my lips are naturally dry and lipsticks suck every bit of moisture from them. I was basically forced to wear a matching gloss on top of my lipstick until one day I decided to cut out the middle man. I now love being able to get my color and shine in one!

That’s the only kind I use. Like someone said earlier, sheer lipgloss is pointless to me. My lips are already dark so I need product with a lot of pigment.

see most the time i want a gloss that is opaque i get tired of being deceived by sheer lip glosses that shows to be some awesome color & it might as well be clear ! especially if i am paying for department store brand i want to see it lol

I love them & I want them all! I see sheer lip glosses as all the same color on most lips, so they don’t really attract my attention.

I like pigmented gloss but I’m not a huge fan of the opaque ones. I’m a nervous lip-licker and they tend to wear to that awful ring around the lip edges on me. If I really want color I prefer to layer lipstick or stain under a color coordinated gloss.
