What are your back-to-school favorites?
What are your back-to-school favorites? For all our lovely readers going back-to-school (or already back-to-school!). Even if you aren’t a student any more, feel free to chime in with your recommendations!
Pressed powder for touching up/keeping the face shine-free throughout the day, shimmery lipgloss (Bobbi Brown High Shimmers!), tinted moisturizer, mascara, and brow color (I use MAC Espresso).

I’m not a student but a teacher so I, too, am back to school! My favourites – MAC Painterly for a fresh, wide awake look; GOSH Metallic Brass pencil liner – lasts all day without smudging, smearing or vanishing; Marcelle BB cream with SPF – a multipurpose product that eliminates a lot of steps – and to deal with shine, Essence All About Matte pressed powder. Some Revlon lip butter and blush and I’m out the door.
Burt’s Bees lip balm and ginger candy. Oh, and every possible color of writing utensils.
Makeup novice here. What’s the difference between “setting” powder and “finishing” powder? Are they both considered pressed powders, and are they both necessary?
Finishing often adds “life” back to the skin after you’ve applied powder – but finishing powders are powders, so they can do double-duty depending on your skin type. Finishing ones are sheerer usually, so that’s why if you have oilier skin, you’ll want a setting powder and a finishing powder (or skip the finishing).
I’m not a student anymore, but looking back I wish I had these things:
Blotting papers – to get rid of the shine mid day
Pressed powder, or powder foundation in general
Concealer for any teenage breakouts
Wipes – multipurpose!
Tinted moisturizer/BB cream, a good face cream, a good powder, not too dramatic mascara, light pink or peach blush and a shiny lipgloss!
chanel tient innocence foundation(liquid)
mac paint pot groundwork
fusion beauty cream blushes
mac fling brow pencil
nuxe reve de miel lipbalm
chanel volume mascara
My back to school favourites are matte shadows (UD Naked Basics), Mascara (Maybellin’s Big Eyes), Concealer (L’oreal True Match Liquid Formula) & Lip Balm (Nivea Lip Butter). As for non-beauty but not school supplies I suggest bringing band-aids, Kleenex, Lotion, A mirror, & Tic Tacs (gum substitute).
we weren’t allowed to do make up, so a little concelear and blush was my only go to..
