Dolce & Gabbana: Champagne Smooth Eye Colour Quad Review, Photos, Swatches
Dolce & Gabbana: Champagne Smooth Eye Colour Quad
Dolce & Gabbana Champagne Smooth Eye Colour Quad ($59.00) is D&G’s take on the smoky eyes palette. It contains four shades of eyeshadow: a pale, silvery-white; a medium-dark matte black; a mauve-tinged silver; and a subdued, cool-toned dark brown.
Like Dazzling, the Champagne consists of smooth, well-pigmented eyeshadows that feel like buttery goodness to the touch. They apply easily and softly, and they never look garish. They blend seamlessly together, and they work well with all of your favorite eyeshadow bases. They also still blend well when used with other brand eyeshadows.
One of things I like about the Dolce & Gabbana quads I’ve tried so far is that the colors go on as they’re pictured. They’re apply and swatch true-to-color, so there is a whole lot less guesswork to be done. I can also appreciate the “honesty” of the palette in that sense, too. Champagne, in particular, works well together, because the shades are diverse enough to create gradients, but they can be worn in pairs of triplets.
For those who find the price a bit steep, D&G is priced competitively with other major high-end brands like Chanel ($56), Dior ($56), and Guerlain ($58). The packaging is hefty and looks like gold (though it does hold fingerprints). It’s sleek and elegant, so it does look lovely when you hold it. If it didn’t hold fingerprints, the packaging would definitely help sway me even more.

Recommendation: If you’re a fan of high-end, luxury brands, Dolce & Gabbana has put out a quality line of makeup. Champagne is a great quad to travel with to be able to create several evening smoky eyes.

Would you prefer this quad over, say, Dior Smoky/Purple Jazz Palette?
Christine,
Thanks for the lovely an informative review. What is this like compared to Guerlain’s neutral palette, Brun Mordore. Do I need both? Thanks!
My pleasure, Amy! It is similar… and if you’re trying to stay on a budget, it’s not a *must* if you have Guerlain’s already. It is… nice to have, lol!
YES!
I think I have all of these colors already from NYX. I will pass on this one.
how?
What colors, Margarett?
The brown colour is very gorgeous, but I can definitely find a dupe for at MAC or various brands. The compact is gorgeous though.
It’s not a terribly original quad (nearly every brand has one), but still lovely.
That looks like a great little quad, it’s a bit expensive but i’d consider it if i was going somewhere on holiday and fancied a few smokey eyed nights.
Very good idea 🙂
Its quite pretty! I also liked the other DnG palette you reviewed. Way out of my price range though! 😛
It’s so classic! I like Dazzling just a touch more, but it’s more me, haha.
It’s colors like that gray, with multi-dimensional, iridescent shimmer…they make me go ga-ga! @_@
I know exactly what you mean, Helena 🙂
Whoa. Beautiful. I have been looking for that brown forever. Please tell me the dupe!
And it’s so cute that Christine always gets back to posters. 🙂
I don’t know of a dupe, sorry 🙁
