Guerlain Two Spicy (08) Eyeshadow Duo / Ecrin 2 Coueleurs Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Two Spicy Eyeshadow Duo
Guerlain Two Spicy Ecrin 2 Couleurs Eyeshadow Duo ($44.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as “spicy coral” and “ebony brown.” The coral shade is the “luminous veil,” whereas the brown shade is the “pure color shadow,” with the former being somewhat sheer and the latter being intensely pigmented. I was incredibly surprised–happily, though–that despite the amount of sparkle in the coral shade that there was very little fall out during wear. I had some when I initially applied the color to the lid, but little and then maybe one or two flecks were visible eight hours later (and no creasing or fading for either shade to report). The brown applied beautifully and was very easy to blend out on the lid. Overall, the colors work well with each other, but there is such a dramatic difference in texture that I’m not totally sold on the pairing, and I wish the coral shade was more flattering applied.
Two Spicy #1 is a medium orange with warm, reddish undertones and copper and gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff. It had a very unusual consistency, as it felt almost wet and like a cream product, though it is supposed to be a powder. It even pushes and dents in a little, as if it were a drier cream. It looked noticeably frosted and sometimes bunched up on itself on the lid, looking like chunks of sparkle on the lid. Applied with a fluffier brush, you would eliminate this issue but would get more of a wash of color. MAC Hot Paprika is similar but less sparkly. Guerlain Terra Azzurra #3 is pinker–more coral. See comparison swatches.
Two Spicy #2 is a dark, chocolate brown with subtle, warm yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It was nicely opaque and easy to apply–soft, finely-milled, and blendable. Bobbi Brown Chocolate is more shimmery. Urban Decay Snakebite is warmer, lighter. MAC Cross-Cultural is similar. MAC Brown Down is more matte. See comparison swatches.

With plenty of dupes for this pairing, it’s a pass. Looks great against your eye colour!
Thanks, Wendy!
The texture of two Spicy sounds really interesting.
Love this! And it looks great on your eye, Christine!
Too spicy is a pretty shade but just too glittery. I wish they’d make shades like these more wearable. Pretty though.
Oh, the texture of #1 is pretty common in Shu Uemura’s line up of eyeshadow sparkle colors. They are almost wet-like,kind of cool to the touch. fairly pigmented, super sparkly, and without a lot of fall-out. Fun stuff, especially for the holidays!
The orange shade is very much not my colour although this looks a whole lot more appealing to me, for some reason, than most other orange-toned shadows. And I have so many shadows (including one from Guerlain) that look identical to the dark side.
the price and texture aren’t my thing but the look you did with it is really nice! i like the color combination
Super pretty! I am especially in love with the “spicy coral” shade. I just don’t wear eyeshadow enough to justify the price!
Will you be reviewing two lovely?
Hi Pamela,
The only ones I have are Two Spicy and Two Stylish – sorry!
Love this colour combo! I just purchased a coral eyeshadow (Smashbox Flamingo) that seems to have a better, smoother texture. I’ll have to try it with a chocolate brown.
Aw, this was the duo I was hoping to get my hand on – but the sparkliness of the coral is a bit much for me.
Christine, I clicked on the button for “Where to Buy” under your grade for Two Spicy Eyeshadow. Under the three choices I clicked Sephora, but it took me to Nordstrom and not to the product graded.
Hope you find this helpful.

Hi Melissa,
I just clicked “Where to Buy” under “Two Spicy (08)” and I clicked Sephora, and it took me to Sephora – it takes me to sephora.com. When I clicked Nordstrom, it took me to Nordstrom.com; Saks took me to saks.com. The product is not yet available on those sites, so they links are going to take you to the home pages.
Thanks!
Two Spciy looks like half of the Tom Ford quad “Gold mink”..isn’t it? :-O
looks great on you, the orange/coral too but I see what you mean, the structure strikes me also as being odd. Doesn’t seem easy to work with to me.
thank you soooo much for all your great swatches and make up, this helps me A LOT in deciding what to buy and what not!
My pleasure, Marja! 🙂
