Dior Destin (382) & Galaxie (992) Vernis Nail Enamels Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Dior Destin (382) Vernis Nail Enamel ($24.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is a metallic, warm-toned taupe. It’s a warm, gray-ish brown with threads of white metallic shimmer. To that end, there are visible brush strokes. The color itself was opaque after two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. Dior’s wider brush did help minimize the brush strokes and how wonky they may have looked with a skinnier brush. Both Rescue Beauty Lounge Be Humble and Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty are lighter, less brown, less metallic. See comparison swatches.

Galaxie (992) Vernis Nail Enamel ($24.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is a deepened, plummy berry with deep pink shimmer. This shade applied better with very minimal brush strokes; it is slightly metallic but not as metallic as Destin. It was opaque after two coats. Illamasqua Vice has no shimmer and has a wax finish. Illamasqua Charisma is warmer, redder. Rescue Beauty Lounge Bruised is similar in color but has no shimmer. See comparison swatches.

Dior’s polishes have a wide, rounded brush, which can be a blessing or curse, depending on your natural nail width.  For me, it works well for all but  my pinky nail, which I have to be a little more careful of and be sure not to splay the brush at all.  I think it helps to apply the color more fluidly and minimize unevenness and brush strokes (particularly ones that swerve).  I typically get a week of wear with Dior’s formula with no chipping and minor tip wear.

Destin looks lovely, I don’t mind brush strokes. I am a little surprised you gave this one a b+ with the lower grades in application and overall product. Galaxie is gorgeous but very dupable

Hmmm! I’m not sure how I feel about the brush strokes in Destin — I usually love them, but I feel like they maybe don’t work with the shade.

That said, though, I LOVE the metallic finish and shade itself! Very chic, but miles away from boring. 🙂

Just impulse nabbed Galaxie, wore it for a long shift on Friday & . . . wow.
I have brittle, chip-inducing nails on my best day. On my days off, I’m lucky if my mani lasts 48 hrs w/o going to sad, chip ridden, city. On work days? I’m polish obsessed or I wouldn’t bother. I work with my hands, so a typical 8-10 hr shift eats polish for lunch.
This, w/o base or top coat, showed only the very minorest of tip-wear.
I’ve tried Deborah LIpman, Illamasqua, Butter London, RBL, Zoya, Essie, NARS, you name it. This was the best wear I’ve ever seen. I have honestly never seen anything like it.
If this is indicative of Dior polishes, they have just made a convert for life.
Colour is both provocative & understated enough not to rile the bosses. Smashing for fall. Love.
