Monday Motivation: August 10th, 2009

My Monday was so unmotivated that I didn’t put this together until this morning. See why we all need a little pick-me-up at the beginning of the week? If you’ve tried any of these products, I’d love to hear your feedback! You just might save me money (or further enable me to spend!). 🙂

  • Kate Somerville Skin Health Starter Kit ($70.00) is a value skincare set. I’m a big fan of Kate Somerville products (well, the few I’ve tried!), but her skincare is a little pricey, so any opportunity to try it for less… well, you have my attention. I do need to work out if it is really a “deal” or not, though.
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – Oil Free Nude ($42.00) is a long-time lemming for me. It’s been on my list for ages, but the price tag has kept me resisting thus far. I’ve heard so many great things about this product, which is kind of the root reason why I’ve always wanted to give it a shot myself.
  • Sephora Brand Precision Sponge ($12.00) looks to be Sephora’s version of the famous BeautyBlender sponge. I’ve tried both the BeautyBlender and Sonia Kashuk’s version, both are really great tools when you want a sponge applicator. I prefer sponge applicators with liquid or cream foundations, though I prefer brushes overall.
  • Korres Lemon Lip Scrub ($19.00) is a lip exfoliator in a lipstick-tube form. I like that it is compact and travel-friendly–no spilling here! I’m curious to see if it’ll out-do my Peter Thomas Roth scrub.
  • Illamasqua Intense Lipgoss ($19.00) seems like something right up my alley–intense colored gloss? Sign me up! They have a decent amount of shades available via Sephora, so I don’t even know where to start. Probably Mistress? Maybe Petulant…
  • Hourglass Primer Set ($56.00) includes both Houglass’ Veil Mineral Primer with SPF 15 as well as Solar Tan Self-Tanning Primer. I’m always curious in different face primers, but I’m particularly intrigued by a self-tanning one!
  • Smashbox High Definition Dual Finish Micro Powder SPF 15 ($38.00) has an interesting delivery system–looks like it’s a lot less messy compared to traditional translucent powders. I wasn’t sold on Make Up For Ever’s HD powder, so I’m interested in seeing how Smashbox’s HD powder compares.

What are your latest lemmings? Are you close to caving?

What products did you try from Kate Somerville Christine? I want to try a couple of their products. Ever try the Detox Daily Cleanser?

When you use a sponge for liquid foundation, do you notice any streaks? I use a sponge sometimes but they look different than the one in the picture you have. The one I have soaks up too much foundation. The one in the picture doesn’t look like it would.

Oh man! I hadn’t seen the Korres lip scrub – totally interested in that though I usually just mix together a little brown sugar & white sugar in apricot kernal oil myself. It’d be perfect for on the go.

I love the LM oil free tinted moisturizer! I have been using it for over a year and it gives great coverage. I stipple it on with a beautyblender sponge and it comes out perfect. No irritations or breakouts since i’ve used it. Also, by stippling it on, you never get that dreaded line on your jaw! Pick up a sample and try it out! : )

I’ve been using the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for 3 years. My color is Sand. I love it and it’s one of the few products I’ve repurchased when I finished mine. It evens out my skin and gives me just a hint of color. The finish is not matte but not shiny. It is more than I normally spend on a product but it’s worth it.

I like the LM tinted Moisturizer! I would recommend getting the starter kit at sephora, that way you can test it out, receive brushes and other products for only 20 bucks more! Im lemming the Temptu..it looks almost too good to be true!

I have the LAURA tinted moisturizer and i love it… that was until i recently tried the new MAC tinted moisturizer. i feel as though they are very similiar products, with similiar coverage but the MAC one is about $13 cheaper. love.

I never tried the LM, but I do love the new MAC tinted moisturizer. It’s just enough coverage for the summer and the dark shade works perfectly on my tanned asian skin NC42-44. My favorite part is that it leaves a clean finish, no powder required, unlike a few others I’ve tried.

I heard the LM tinted moisturiser oxidises?I’ve seen photos of other beauty bloggers who did a half face test and the oxidation is very apparent. Apparently the tinted moisturiser to try is the Shiseido and La Mer one.

I’m very happy that Korres is making a lip scrub…I need one right now. 😉

Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss = LOVE. I have Petulant and Temper, and WOW! Like the sheer glosses and lipsticks they’re creamy and easy to apply if you keep them clean, last a long time and the colours are stunning. Major pigmentation here. Truly bold, which I love!

I recently purchased Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer and Illamasqua Intense lipgloss in Frenzy and I love them both. I’ve been wearing them almost every day and I’m definitely going to buy the lipgloss in other colours next time I’m in London.

I’ve always wanted to try the Self-Tanning Primer from Hourglass. I’ve also heard great things about their Veil Primer. Great ratings on Sephora!
