Temptalia Asks You - How many eyeshadows do you use per look?

How many eyeshadows do you use per look? (On average!)

.

On overage, probably between 4-6, but easily more. It’s just so easy to take a little from one shadow, a little from another…

I always use MAC Omega to fill in my brows, so I’m not going to count that.
Otherwise: I’ve used anywhere from 2 to 12, but usually around 4 or 5.

Most days 5– lid, whole crease, outter crease, entire browbone, highlight. But that’s just my netural eye.

If I’m doing something more involved, it may take more or less eyeshadow to acheive the look.

3-4 and base. I’ve got an hour in the morning to get ready, so this is at most what I can squeeze in for blending. Otherwise if I have more time on a day off I tend to use 5.

Usually 3, sometimes 4. I have asian eyes with a small lid space. So there isn’t a whole lot of room for me to pack multiple colors. I usually just had a lid color, outer crease color, and a highlight color for my everyday look.

I usually use 2-3, 4 if I’m feeling ambitious. Given I’m still a beginner and shaky on color selection and blending, I think I’ll stay simple until I am more confident.

On average, I can use about 4/5 shadows.. I completely agree that it’s so easy to take a little color from here and there. It all really adds up!

Wow, reading the other replies I am pretty lazy and boring! I use 1-2. Sometimes if I am feeling somewhat motivated I will use shadow w/some shimmer…wow.

Usually 4ish, but it can be as little as 2 and as many as 6ish. It just depends on how much time I feel like spending on the blending and such… and how elaborate I’m feeling.

Usually 4 and a base, but can be from 2 to 6 (I don’t think I’ve ever used more than 6!) depending on my time frame and inspiration level 😉

Base, lid, crease, highlight – normally four. If I need to jazz my makeup up I tend to highlight my inner corners and blend above the crease more, which makes for about 6 shadows.

Bettina Avatar

usually no more than 4, but I agree with Christine it’s easy to use 4-6 because you just go oh this might be cool and you just start pulling from a bunch of colors LOL

Not including bases, probably 5 or 6. I don’t always plan to use that many, but once I have the first couple of colors on, I tend think “You know what shadow/pigment would really look great with this look…” and it goes from there. 🙂

I use about 15 shadows when trying to achieve the drag queen look…. just kidding!
I’m average like most everyone here…it’s about 4-5 shadows for me including the brow highlight shadow and I almost always use KID eyeshadow to transition from the crease color to my brow highlight so it looks more blendable and not that harsh line between crease and brow highlight shadows…Kid is such a great neutral shadow!

For a performance or other formal occasions I use about 3-4. For everyday though, 2 or 3 at most. It’s so hot now and I’m tanned, so lately I’ve been sweeping on a layer of MAC paint in Bamboom and then mascara, that’s it! It’s enough as long as my lashes are curled, primed and mascaraed.

1. lid
2. crease
2. highlight
4. outer v (sometimes)
5. lower lid (i don’t like to use the same eyeshadows on my lower lid, but i stay within the color family)

I’d say in the 5-9 range. I tend to spend at least fifteen minutes on my eye makeup. If I’m in a huge hurry I’ll do one color I REALLY like all over my lid. Almost always I use a lot though, I really really like eye makeup 😀

Usually 3-4 eyeshadows. I have used 5 shadows before, but mainly where one shadow became a base over the primer. It makes blending easier for more detailed looks!

4 shades using: 1 as all over lid color, 2 as contour/crease and outer v, 3 as highlighter on brow and inner corner, and 4 as liner along lash line.

3 shades using 1-3 above, and I would use a pencil liner along lash line.

I don’t have much of a variety of e/s in general, and I’m more into neutral shades since they’re easier to create, especially on my Asian eyes, haha.
