Sea-Blue Exfoliator: Lush Ocean Salt Cleanser

Get Silky Smooth Skin with Lush Ocean Salt Cleanser

LUSH Ocean Salt Cleanser ($18.55 for 4.2 oz.) is an exfoliator that uses both fine and coarse sea salt to exfoliate the skin.  It also contains vodka and lime as well as avocado butter.  This scrub leaves skin feeling incredibly clean and smooth.  It smells kind of like a margarita to me, a little sour.

While the sea salt can be coarse, the best part about the product is you can always add a little more water to dilute the scrub and make it better for your skin.  I didn’t find I needed to do more than wet my face prior to using the scrub.  Do make sure you mix-up the scrub when you get it, though, as all of the salt mixture lies on top when you initially purchase the product.

For me, I feel like my skin looks and feels smoother, but it doesn’t feel like it’s been dried out either.  It’s soft, hydrated, and looks and feels smooth.  No breakouts or reactions, nor irritated skin in the least bit.  One pot of this stuff will last you quite awhile (I’d probably opt for the smaller size), because a little goes a long way.

  • Product: 8/10
  • Value: 9/10
  • Ease of Use: 8/10
  • Packaging: 7/10

Recommendation: If you have normal skin and are in the market for a new exfoliating product, look into Lush’s Ocean Salt. I think the grit of the sea salt might be a bit too harsh for more sensitive skin, though adding more water will help to dilute it.

I love this product:) I find it too rough for my face, but I use it as a body exfoliater. Since little goes a very long way it is not as expensive as it might seem at first. Try it:) It is worth it!

I bought this stuff about a week ago and I love it! I have really dry skin but it doesn’t make it drier like one might expect from a scrub with alcohol in. I even love the scent.

Oh my god! I’ve been dying to try out some products by Lush but I didn’t know that were available here and now I just found out there’s a store just a few 100 meters away! Hurray!
Will definitely try them out!

I went there today and totally caved in. I bought Catastrophe Cosmetic, Angels on Bare Skin, Aqua Marina and Toner Tabs. A Crash Course in Skin Care and Brazened Honey were not available unfortunately 🙁 Also, the friendly lady gave me a tour around the shop and now I smell like pie 🙂

I have this and I mistakenly used it on my face. I have sensitive skin and it made my face very red. I tried it on my body and found that it didn’t work very well. The salt bits were to corse to do much exfoliation. I prefer something with finer exfoliation.

I picked this up yesterday after they gave me a hand treatment (Lemony Flutter and this on top of my hands) This is going to be great to replace my Philosophy Scrub (which I hear rumors is being discontinued in favor of new products)

I have used this and weren’t happy with the vodka element, it was great and moussy though, used it on the face, body, hands, foot scrub and it’s great – but won’t repurchase for the vodka bit, and the fact that it smelled heavily of it too, blurgh!

I absolutely adore Ocean Salt! I wasn’t sure if I would, so I bought the small container, but when that’s gone, I am definitely investing in the larger tub! I have never had an exfoliator that has left my skin so baby smooth and smell so good! (There’s nothing like rubbing what smells like margaritas on your face!) This is definitely worth picking up!! ;D

this saved my face! I had some serious acne that was not going away even after a month and this cleanser fixed it. I still use it every day but now I need to find something gentler now that my face is better 🙂

how come yours is so blue looking ? mine is just white

I’m a big fan of Lush product but I won’t purchase this cleanser ever again.
I hate the smell of this product, and the grain of salt are so big that they literally hurt my face, so I tried to use it as a body exfoliator but then again the sea salt is so huge that it doesn’t exfoliate at all, I’m very dissapointed, now it is just sitting here in my bathroom and I just may have to throw it away cause I know for sure I won’t use it again

I LOVE Ocean Salt. It makes my skin baby-soft and smooth.

A great hand treatment is to rub a good amount of Lemony Flutter into your hands, then scrub with Ocean Salt and finish off with a good quality hand cream. Your hands will feel amaaaaaaaaaaazing afterward!

I love the texture of this; it feels so cool in the jar, and the bright blue color is also neat, but I used and it made my skin burn! I’d say it’s not for someone with sensitive skin.

Water will usually melt the sea salt. So, use it with the slightest bit of dampness to your face or completely dry. Otherwise, you won’t get the true affect of the product, if you melt the salt. Just a suggestion. 🙂

I have this, however my one look completely different to yours. My one seems to have a lot of salt also the colour is fading, the blue starting to go lighter. Although my one is from the UK.
