Haha. I had every lipsmacker known to man in middle school. Then I took an almost 10 year hiatus from makeup and eventually resurfaced with a MAC obession. lol.
Age you fell in love with makeup?: Probably when I was 5. I used to ask my mum on and on to have red nail polish on. Then I would go in her Avon stock to try all of her lipstick samples which was driving her crazy. Around 15, I’d fell in love with face make up but would only start really wearing make up around 19. My first love is really nail polish.
What was your first beauty product?: A nail polish quite similar to Essie Cherry Pop.
Best brand for those new to makeup?: It depends. Not mac because there’s too much and it can be really overhelming or difficult to tame so much different products (what the hell should we do with cromacakes or paintpots when we know nothing about make up??) It’s too developped and expensive for a start. Best to me is something playful and girly like Benefit (although it’s too expensive) or any affordable playful brand.

Probably some random old drugstore eyeshadows my mom gave me when she was cleaning out her makeup drawer. The first *real* product I can remember that was my own and not sampled from my mom’s stash was Smackers lipgloss and LDL Grand Lash Mascara (long discontinued unknown brand that sounds like bad cholesterol, LOL!)
Best brand for those new to makeup?
L’Oreal, Physician’s Formula, and Neutrogena. These companies have affordable, easy-to-use quality makeup that’s sheer enough to play with and not look like a clown (pigmented MAC products are not for the faint of heart, unknowing beginners!) but just pigmented enough to be satisfied with the way your makeup turned out. 🙂

My mum nevere wore make up, but she had this beautiful golden brown lipstick that I used to try out and I even bought her a lovely green eyeshadow duo, but she never used that either. I think I started wearing make up (coloured mascara mainly) at 15 or so.
What was your first beauty product?: I had one of these very cheap 12 or 15 colour palettes. Proper one, I can’t remember, but it was some cheap drugstore line like Constance Carroll.

Age I fell in love with makeup: I was the ripe old age of 10 playing around with my mom’s liners and lipsticks, but I wasn’t allowed to wear lipstick until I was 13 and from then on I began experimenting with other products like powder and liners.
My first beauty product: is a lipstick by Mattel Barbie a very bright hot pink ( wasn’t supposed to use my money for makeup then that was when I was 10). The very first lipstick I owned and wore everyday was MAC’s Mocha lipstick.
Best Brand for Beginners: L’oreal or Rimmel because it is better to start off experimenting and learning on more budget friendly brands than to start off with more expensive ones.
I always was jealous of girls that wore nice makeup, cause mine never looked well put together. I have better technique now, thanks to youtube, so I would say I was 30.
I wore alot of brown eyeshadow when I was younger, but I love mascara.
I think sephora is good for beginners because of the pallets that are available.

Hmm…I used some of my mom’s makeup that she didn’t use anymore. (Ew!) But, as for my own makeup, it was a little eyeshadow palette by “The Color Workshop” (whatever that is).
Good drugstore brands, like Prestige or Milani. I wouldn’t really recommend messing around with big-name drugstore brands, because they tend to be crappy. People who are just starting should never buy anything for over twenty bucks, or over the Internet!
Oh, the Color Workshop! I have a few of their products, just silver and fuschia loose shadows and a blush brush. That brand is SO the embodiment of fakeup. 😉

I never really got into makeup until I was about 17-18 (So about 2-3 years ago) but I wore black eyeliner on my waterline a lot back in high school (Actually I still do lol). But when 17 hit and I went to a Dior event it went downhill from there, I was addicted to Dior stuff for a while (Which made me broke) and then I discovered MAC and swapped a good majority of my Dior stuff away for MAC LE’s. My first beauty product was a bonnebell black eyeliner I think since it was way before my addiction to makeup I don’t quite recall. Best starting brand would probably be MAC IMO since it’s fairly good quality for a decent price.

What was your first beauty product?: i cant remember, first it was prob some drugstore product, like nailpolish or an e/s. then when i was in middleschool i still did drugstore shopping (my younger sis and i) used to walk to the nearby osco drugstore. then i delved into clinique and always got their gift w/ purchase sales- thats how i built up my collection. i think i purchased one of their full sized lipsticks in this nude tan color (cant remember the name)
Best brand for those new to makeup?: MAC everything, i started in 2002, then ran up my credit card, then paid it off, then i started back again in dec 2008, and doing the same thing, but now they are coming out with too many collections- its crazy and their making me broke. i really like their e/s (im an e.saholic), lipstick and blushes. i also like bare essentuals/minerals, urban decay, benefit, too faced, stila and nars (but way out of my price range). For drugstore makeup- i recommomend maybelline blush (mousse and mineral), their smokey e/s quads, loreal hip jellybalms, revlon matte collection (l/s and e/s), and almost any mascara from drugstore brand is good and comparable to high end, although i am very fond of lancome deficinis mascara, but thats it ( i have a small sample sized, but it makes my eyelashes look so glamorous).

I would say a brand like nyx because it’s cheap but they have a lot of different options and it gives girls who are new to makeup the opportunity to experiment without spending a lot on products that they might not like or need. Or really any drugstore brand is good to get your feet wet in but I would tell them to hold off on more expensive brands until they have a better idea of what they like and what they want out of their makeup.
-I would say around 13 officially. When I was young, like 8, I used lipgloss like water. LOL!

-Try Phyisicians Formula, CoverGirl, or L’Oreal for drugstore. For high-end, I say try MAC, Benefit, or Laura Mercier.

I think MAC is best. It is cheap and fun to play around with. The quality is really good and you cant beat the prices.

What was your first beauty product?: This is a hard one to answer! Probably some cute nail polish when I was little, and I’ve been wearing EDM or other mmu for 5-6 years now. The first one after my attitude towards makeup changed though is MAC Cremesheen in Party Line.
Best brand for those new to makeup?: Depends on the age and the product I think. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend one brand for everything. MAC is a pretty good start though, I think. It’s got a little bit of everything for everybody. This was my first brand, so to speak. Some other favorites of mine are Everyday Minerals, Dior, Laura Mercier and Jane Iredale. And of course you need an eyeshadow primer. =)

Best brand for those new to makeup?: MAC. Drugstore finds just don’t measure up to their quality IMO. I’ve always been interested in make up but always ended up looking like a clown because I didn’t have the right tools (horrible brushes, mismatching drugstore foundation, e/s that wouldn’t stick or have any decent pigmentation,…). (I already had my techniques down though.) Walking into a MAC made a huge difference. Applying make up suddenly felt like a breeze. Try it! You can always try it once to see what you like and then find dupes for the products if the prices scare you… It is pretty addictive though, be warned! 🙂

Best brand for those new to makeup?: A really really good choice… MAC COSMETICS (for the variety of colors and shapes…). But if you are starting with all this makeup stuff (teenagers), I would recommend L’oreal and Revlon Eyeshadows Quads. NYX too!

best brand for those new to makeup: well, for eyeshadows, i would say mac, for lipsticks, i would say, ysl and mac. for cheap, i would say hip shadows from l’oreal is comparable although i find the company to be a bit iffy on animal testing, and NYC makes nice lippies and shadows from NYX and Maybelline is comparable especially with the new single shadows formulations, imo.
Mascara for cheap, l’oreal has a varied collection and rimmel makes quite nice mascaras although a bit of smudging does occur, and for higher brand, i personally find ysl faux cils to be quite nice.

Revlon eyeshadow quad, Cover Girl masacara and Yardley Goodnight slicker….got all three for my 16th birthday. For those of you too young to remember….Goodnight slicker was the white/pink frost everyone wanted, to copy Twiggy!
Best brand for those new to makeup…..hmmm….I think it depends on age and budget. Young and limited budget, I’d say Revlon. Older and more bucks to blow….BE or MAC.

I distinctly remember my teenaged and university-age cousins’ drawers of Clinique lipsticks (in the retro green plastic) from all their bonus beauty packs. I had so much fun “borrowing” those. But I didn’t start seriously using make-up until I was in high school.
What was your first beauty product? MAC Mocha lipstick and Camel eyeshadow. They were both in the old packaging – flat topped, matte lipstick tubes and eyeshadow pots with separate lids.
Best brand for those new to makeup? Benefit. Great products and super fun packaging.

Age you fell in love with makeup?: Not sure, probably around 14 or 15.
What was your first beauty product?: Probably my mom’s oooooold lipsticks. Probably something covergirl. And mark eyeshadows.
Best brand for those new to makeup?: it depends on what they are looking for. Something natural looking and sheer? Perhaps Laura Mercier or Bobbi Brown for high end and Almay for low end. Something bright and on top of the trends? L’oreal for low end and MAC for higher end.
I really feel like this is a limiting question though, because if you are just getting into makeup, you don’t want to limit yourself to just one brand. Really, no one should limit themselves to just one brand. You should start out with some good basics (foundation, concealor and mascara from a good quality brand) and then with eyeshadows, liners and lip products, you can experiment with different brands to find formulas and shades that you like. Thats why stores like Sephora and Ulta are such gifts…beginners can try things out without having to purchase them first!
I say that experimentation; not finding a perfect “beginners brand”, is the most important thing for beginners.

I fell in love with makeup at age 34. I know, I know, Im a late bloomer. But Im cute though! 😉 Anyways, my first products were a Cargo High Definition Makeup set and some Urban Decay eyeshadows. I still love Urban Decay, and highly recommend it to others. It can suit all tastes, from the tame to the wild child.
