Myself, because I’m way more comfortable with mine, have a better idea of my likes/dislikes, and it’s just less stressful!

I like applying makeup to other people if it’s something I like but would never be able to wear myself – like a look with really warm colours or something. Then it’s fun to see how it goes on and looks (hopefully!) awesome. I also like applying crazy/gorgeous eyeliner (think stuff like UD woodstock, chaos etc) to my sister who has excellent taste in eyeliner colours but is then too chicken to wear them!

However, it’s always more ‘comfortable’ to apply stuff to myself, especially mascara. Applying mascara to other people is…tricky. But then I’m not any kind of make up artist, so maybe I don’t have the right technique yet… 😀

Definitely on others! My daughter is twelve and she has her friends stay over ALL the time. After talking with their parents and letting the girls know they won’t leave the house with the makeup on, we will have a makeup party. Just tonight, I did my daughter’s makeup and her friend’s and then we took pictures:)

On me!!!
I’ve never tried to others and niether I fancy it, event though sometimes I think “… mmhh… she’d need a little help from a friend…”

Definitely on others! Wearing makeup doesn’t bother me one bit but it’s much easier for me to be more creative and my application is more symmetrical on someone else… EXCEPT for lips! I can do my own lips in a fraction of the time it takes me to do someone else’s!

Plus if I wear makeup myself I have to be the one to wash it all off – I’d RATHER just be lazy and go to sleep in it! LOL!

Actually both but I think it’s really difficult to apply makeup on others, esp. when you do some simple MU as I do !

I don’t think I’ve actually applied makeup on others since I was a teen and my best friend, Gayle, hadn’t been allowed to wear makeup, had permission for a Sweet Sixteen party but had no idea what to do. At my age, I can’t imagine putting makeup on anyone else, though I’m a wonderful enabler, exposing some of my friends to the joys of the makeup and skin care counters! So, except for putting makeup on my daughter for ballet recitals when she was little and for Halloween, I would have to say it’s more fun applying it on myself. It actually IS more fun since the person I’ve bought all this stuff for is me and I’ve bought it to suit both my tastes and also my delight in putting on makeup.

Both are fun, but I think I have more fun applying make-up on myself. That way I wouldn’t have to worry about the other person liking the result and I can play around to my heart’s content.

I love doing makeup on others more than myself. I like working on different skin tones, ages, and facial features and try things I can’t do on myself. I love seeing the transformations that makeup can do to a person’s appearance and confidence.

I’m always afraid I’m going to poke someone in the eye, or something like that. And, some people get freaked out when others touch their face, which, in turn freaks me out. I prefer to just apply my own makeup, and leave it at that.

Definitely on myself. I love the idea of putting makeup on others, but I am just super unsure of what looks good on other people’s faces ): I have very unique shaped eyes in particular and it’s taken a LONG time to figure out how to make them look good. Also if I mess up on my own face it’s like whatever I can just fix it and make it look good, but when I do my friend’s makeup its like … I feel like it’s going to be judged if its not perfect HAHA

Both! I’m a professional makeup artist. I love experimenting on myself and my daughters, trying outrageous new looks; and I love seeing how happy my work makes others — there’s nothing like seeing someone’s face light up because they feel more beautiful than ever due to the makeup I’ve done.

I like doing it on myself for fun but last month me and my friend were giving each other makeovers and it is so fun! It’s really weird because our eye shapes are so different

Erica Avatar

Both! I dont spend enough time having fun trying new things for my own face. However, my Mom, Aunts and Cousins are always my “clients” when we are going to a family function. I think it’s because I have lots of makeup and I can pull my own look together pretty convincingly. lol.

Vinnie Avatar

Other people, definitely. I get in such an application rut with my own face, but other people are like blank, fresh canvases.

I prefer applying my own makeup, I’ve applied it to others and am always nervous about how they think they look. The results have been good so far, but the anxiety created is a bit much. I’m not a professional makeup artist.
