Le Metier de Beaute Femme Fatale Kaleidoscope
Le Metier de Beaute Femme Fatale Kaleidoscope

Le Metier de Beaute Femme Fatale Kaleidoscope ($95.00 for 0.56 oz.) includes four shades: Oyster (satin shimmer dust), Sapphire (midnight blue with jewel tones), Autumn Rust (deep and rustic topaz), and Matte Plum (bodacious, bright purple).

Per readers’ requests, I’m posting this quick post that features photos and swatches of the Kaleidoscope, but I’m not writing a full review unless it is re-released and becomes available again 🙂 I will say it is up to par with Le Metier de Beaute’s eyeshadow quality and what I’ve experienced in the past, so you can read previous reviews here. All of the swatches have been put into the Swatch Gallery, so you can compare and look for similar shades based on what interests you!

  • Oyster is a cool-toned, almost pewter-gray with a hint of beige-champagne shimmer. ISuper complex; looks different all the time. Compare here in the Swatch Gallery.
  • Sapphire is a copper and violet-shimmered navy blue with purplish edging. Another complex shade. Best applied wet–a little drier than other shades I’ve tried. Compare here in the Swatch Gallery.
  • Autumn Rust is a medium-dark golden brown with a frosted finish. Compare here in the Swatch Gallery.
  • Matte Plum is a medium-dark red-toned purple with a satiny finish (doesn’t look matte to me). Compare here in the Swatch Gallery.

Also, since we’re on the subject of Le Metier de Beaute… They’ll be doing online auctions starting tonight on their website featuring last-of-a-kind in their Kaleidoscopes for the next six days that are paired with gifts from partners (like Oscar de la Renta, GlossyBox, etc.) to benefit ALS Awareness Month and the ALS Association. 100% (!!) of the proceeds earned from the auctions will go the ALS Association, and Le Metier de Beaute will be donating 10% to the ALS Association for every sale made on their website between 5/5 and 5/12. And then, anyone who donates $100+ through the ALSA.org Le Metier de Beaute Tribute Fund Page, Le Metier de Beaute will send a thank you package of beauty goodies.

What is ALS? The Facts

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord resulting in muscle weakness and atrophy.
  • Upon diagnosis, the life expectancy of an ALS patient ranges from 2 to 5 years.
  • Only 10% will survive more than 10 years
  • For the vast majority, their mind and thoughts are not impaired and remain sharp despite the progressive degenerating condition of the body.
  • ALS can strike anyone. There is currently no cure.

*Sigh* This is heartbreaking! I really hope this will become available again in the future, and more specifically easily available for those who don’t live in the US. I might own something fairly similar to Autumn Rust, but all the rest seem rather unique.

Thanks so much for doing this Christine. It’s funny, because the shade that intrigued me the most for some reason when I heard about it was Oyster and it seems to be exactly what I’d hoped. Breaks my heart again that I couldn’t get it, but I’ll know to keep an eye out for its return.

Awesome that they’re raising money for the fight against ALS. My aunt passed away from it about 10 years ago. It’s an ugly and horrifying disease that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, so I’m glad that these companies are doing something to raise awareness and research funds. I won’t be picking anything up (already have too much makeup and donate to ALS research) but I would totally encourage others to do so if they can.

It is that purple that caught my attention, but I knew I had something [several somethings] similar to it *-*

For anyone interested http://i.imgur.com/h29S9W9.png, those are a few similar sort of colours with Matte Plum from the swatch gallery. There are others too, but I got a bit lazy in rearranging them [and was continuously distracted by unrelated colours].

UD’s Freakshow is a bit more metallic, maybe a touch brighter. UD’s Gravity has more glitter, the colour is slightly more muted. Mac Highly Charged Electric Cool seems a tiny bit more muted but the finish seems to be the closest of the ones I picked out. UD’s Vice seems to be in the same colour family but is more like a younger cousin.

No problem! I decided to do the Sapphire colour, too [http://i.imgur.com/ASCrzQy.png]. That has less similar shades but they were easier to find.

It would be neat if there were a place off to the left or right where you could drag and drop shades to compare them. It isn’t difficult to work as it stands now in my opinion, just takes a bit of time to move them around.

This is Femme Fatale for sure, it’s sexy and totally hot! I really love every shade of this palette which makes it even worse, *cries*. Let’s hope they will re release it again some time in the future. Really great look too Christine!

Beautiful colors but for some reason I’ve never indulged in one of the Kaleidoscopes. I guess I just consider them overpriced for what they are even though I can afford them. I have several LMdB individual shadows and love them. I admire them for the donation participation but I have to say; for the prices they charge for their products I’m a little disappointed that only 10% is being given for sales from their website. Seems a little stingy to me for such a high end (and expensive) brand but it is better than nothing.

Hi Christine!

Are you going to review the new collection from Illamasqua, Paranormal? I really wanna read your thoughts on the lipstick in ESP.

Thank you!

I feel like I have dupes of all of these except maybe the Oyster. That one is really pretty and I think it would look gorgeous as an overlay. BUT $95 for FOUR colors…WHAAAT?!

Christine,
Thank you for posting this.

My father passed away from a rare form of ALS called Progressive Bulbar Palsy in 2009. It took over a year and many different Dr/university/hospital visits for him to get diagnosed. Instead of the ALS affecting his limbs first, it affected his speech, tongue, mouth, eyes, lungs, neck muscles etc. Daddy was such a trooper. He never complained or asked “Why me?”

The Drs never prepare you. Phamphlets, books and websites do not prepare you. It defo was a learning experiance with a lot of trial and error.

ALS is called an ‘orphan disease’ and it affects fewer than 200,000 people in the U.S. An orphan disease does not get adopted by the pharmaceutical industry because it provides little financial incentive for the private sector to make and market new medications to treat or prevent it. Their is NO cure for ALS. No medication can stop it, no operation can stop it and no life style change can stop it. ALS will kill the person who suffers from it. Many research facilities receive no federal or state funding and depend solely on philanthropy.

Local fire departments will be doing the MDA Boot Drive this month. You may see these hunky men standing at popular street corners/medians. If you have any spare change please throw it in the boot. You are helping to save lives.

Thank you.

I don’t understand at all how this is going to raise anything more thana pittance for charity.

I went to the website yesterday and, of course, the kaleidoscope was sold out.

If you wanted to raise money, why limit the number you sell? Wouldn’t you want to sell all you could?
At that point I decided that I would never use all the colors in any of their kaleidoscopes and vowed never to buy any of them, as it would be a waste of money.

Lovely color coordination in this ‘kaleidoscope’, Oyster looks like a warmer cousin of Vex by MAC, and Saphire is just stunning in the pan–it reminds me of semi-precious stone Lapis Lazuli, those golden flecks look just like the pyrite. Otherwise it is a fairly common color, especially among loose pigments. Can’t say the same for Matte Plum, it looks very velvet like in finish and has a warm base.
Very dramatic look overall.
