China Glaze Retro Diva Collection for Fall 2009 – Part 2
Six more shades from China Glaze’s latest launch, and there is sure to be at least one that catches your eye. My personal favorites were Cords, Let’s Groove, and Thunderbird. What are your faves?
- Cords is a metallic-y grayish taupe-brown. It has silver flecks of shimmer and a metallic sheen, but I did find brush strokes to show up more often in the finish.
- Let’s Groove is a rich, vroyal purple with cool purple and hot pink shimmer laced within it. I loved this shade — it looked so stunning on the nails.
- Thunderbird is a vibrant ruby red with softer red shimmer. It applied easily and without a fuss. It’s just such a rich shade of red that made me go “ooh!”
- Skate Night is a raspberryish shade with softer pink-raspberry shimmer. It’s a gorgeous shade, and it is lighter than Stroll, for those who thought they looked the same.
- Cruisin’ is a paler, lighter shade of orange with brown undertones. It has soft orange shimmer. It’s not as bright as Free Love, especially because the brown helps tone it down quite a bit.
- Street Racing is a rustic shade of copper with a little bit of red. It has flecks of bronzy-red shimmer and a metallic finish. I found brush strokes did show up a bit, but not too badly in this one.

Street Racing – love how unique the colour is! 🙂
I know! Very pretty.
AH! Another purple that I feel I must possess in my collection 🙂 It does seem it is the opposite of OPI’s Who Are You Wearing (It was more blue with purple to me~) Thanks for the swatches~
No problem, Rasilla! Happy to share!
These remind me so much of Rimmel’s “Play Fast” colors! I love the purple, in Rimmel it scratches and wears too fast, but I know China Glaze will last. Thanks for posting, I’m a polish addict!
I like all of these.
I think I might just end up getting all 12!!!
DAMN YOU AWESOME POLISHES!!!
Peace Love && Lipstick.
XOXOXOXO

Haha! Nail polish is so easy to succumb to!
Cords looks similar to the Dior LE at Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale. Not quite as refined perhaps?
I haven’t seen that one yet!
OGH, so PRETTY.. How much are these a pop? I want Let’s Groove and Thunderbird for fall and winter, and Skate Night and Cruisin’ for spring and summer.
I believe they’re $6!
I get mine from 8ty8beauty.com though, so I think they’re more like $3!
Sorry! I’m sooooo late!
where do you buy this?
8ty8beauty.com 😀
Thank you Christine!
No prob, Kj!

They are all so pretty, it’s hard not to!
MUST HAVE CORDS! lol
It’s a standout shade for sure!
I love Let’s Groove. The purple is gorgeous, but the blue and red sparkles make it even better! It’s definitely a color that I must own! 🙂
I know! I love the shimmer in it!
Wow, Let’s Groove is a dupe of CG Flying Dragon!
Is it? Good to know!
looks like i’m gonna have to hunt down free love and street racing!
They should be up on 8ty8beauty.com and the like soon!
Christine, I can see grooves in your nails both vertical and horizontal, the latter mean you need more calcium in your diet and the vertical (which I am also doomed with) stand for lack of iron. Don’t know if you already know that, but in case you didn’t there you go. Sorry for that interjection there hun.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these colours, they look amazing!! I’d take them all!
Thanks for letting me know, Sarah!
oh, how i need cords and lets groove in my life!
