I always start with a primer on the whole lead.

I pick my 239 and apply a mid tone eyeshadow on the whole superior lid, near the lashes and a bit beyond the crease.

Then still with my 239 I pick a darker tone and apply that color shading it from the external corner to the middle lid. I make sure that everything blends harmoniously.

Then I draw a cat line over my lashes with Black Fluideline with a Raphael art brush (it works heavenly and make super thin lines). I put black khol on my waterline and under my eyes. I shade the khol on my inferior lid with the dark tone so that I get a slight sexy halo. (always with the 239)

Finally, (with the MUFE 14S) I darken the external corner if it lacks depth (let’s say with “Carbon”) making a little triangle joining my superior and my inferior lid. It makes cats eyes, I love it that way. 🙂

Finally I apply a light color on my brow bone with a Sephora brush looking like the 217 but made of poney hair. And then my mascara.

I start with a thin layer of UDPP on the moveable lid, followed with a thin layer of Painterly. Then, depending on the look I’m creating, I will either take an angled fluff (Crown IB138) and start with my inner corner color out to the middle of my lid, or take a regular shader (EDM) and lay down a wash. Depending on how many colors I’m using, I’ll use a regular shader (EDM) to lay down my middle of lid color, and then my outer corner/crease color. I blend my crease color with a small chisel fluff (Crown C151). After that, I’ll take a smudge brush (Crown IB110) and line my lower lashline with my inner corner color and my outer corner color, blending in the middle. After all that, I’ll take my EDM eye kabuki and blend any harsh edges away, as well as put in my highlight color. Aaaannnd, then I usually just line the outer bottom lashline with a pencil liner, curl my lashes & apply mascara and done!

i noticed after watching risa’s videos, and fashion show backstage videos that lots of artists it seems start eye shadow with the crease and then work their way down..

i have asian eye lids with a “crease” but my “natural” crease is a bit tricky to figure out… so i always start eye shadow from the lid and then work my way up..

i’d like to play around with application, but i’m too scared to mess up and then start all over again! i HATE removing makeup 🙁

Start off with primer on upper and lower lid area, use a brush with base and put on lid. Pack first colour on lid with a eyeshadow brush. Use a deeper shade and apply with a shader brush blend out harsh lines with a blending brush. Top off with highlighter using a highlighting brush

Use base like TFSI or UDPP or paintpot or fluidline depending on whether I am using a bright colour.

Then all over lid color like Mylar or Vanilla.

Then on the lids my main color, like Tempting, or some bright color.

Then on the outer corner the darker shade, like Smut or Carbon.

Then the blending of everything, sometimes I use a clean 224 to blend, sometimes I use a blending color with 224 (like Omega or Wedge or Cork or Poison Pen, usually a matte shade).

Then eyeliner, do the necessary smudges etc.

Lashes – usually falsies.

hi Avatar

– I use Bare Canvas paint 24/7 as a base – ALWAYS. Love!
– I normally apply Shroom all over the Bare Canvas, unless I’m applying something else creamy on top of Bare Canvas.
– All-over lid shadow comes next
– Inner lid if I’m using an inner lid color is next
– Outer lid and crease are usually the same color, so I apply that next
– Crease color comes next if I’m using it
– Liner, smudging, etc.
– Mascara and brows
– Clean up under my eyes; face, cheeks and lips! All done 🙂

hi Avatar

Almost forgot: After I apply the crease color, I use Shroom or any neutral to blend it out. 🙂 I’d forget my head if it weren’t screwed on, lol!

I always apply a base first (I love Mac paintpots for this), using either a skin-coloured shade or a similar colour to the eyeshadows I am going to use.

Generally, I normally apply a lid colour, then a colour to the crease and a highlight colour from my browbone to the inner corner. I normally use the 239 to apply colour to the lid, a crease brush (like the 272 or the Jemma Kidd depth brush) for the crease, a highlight brush for highlighting (I use the Jemma Kidd highlighting eyeshadow brush, as it’s nice and dense and gives a diffused effect) and a blender brush to blend everything together nicely. That’s probably my simple eyeshadow application look; I vary it according to the type of look I’m wearing.

Sometimes, I put a different colour from my browbone highlight colour in the inner corner (either coordinating with the look or something different for a pop of colour). Other times, I might also apply a darker shade in the outer v to add more depth to my look.

I have a an unconventional way of doing my eyes that most wouldn’t agree with but it works for me.

– I put UD primer potion all over my lid
– I lightly curl my lashes & put a light 1st layer of mascara on them
– Then I apply thin liner on my lower lash line
– From there I put color all over my lid; or for more complicated looks, variations of color on lid in parts
– Then i grab my outer lid & crease color & apply to those areas
– I blend everything out & then apply my highlight
– I take the crease color I used & smudge it over the liner I applied earlier on my lower lash line
– I apply liner to my upper lash line &/or water line if I’m using it in my look that day
– I curl my lashes one last time & apply a last coat of mascara
– I take a skin colored shadow (for me that’s Brule) & my fluffy crease brush & smooth under my eye & all around the edges to clean everything up.

TaDa!! Eyes are done. 🙂

too faced primer – all over eye and under
apply concealer
apply a colored base
pack on a color on my lid
go into the crease with a color, make my v and blend blend blend
add my under eye color
add my color around my tear ducts
curl my lashes
put on my lashes
apply my mascara
add on my highlight on my brow bone
go back in and blend blend some more
put on my liquid liner on the lid
use my liner pencil on the water line
and then dust off

I use my MAC 239, 219 and 217 to do all of this.

I’m pretty simple–I just do concealer/foundation on the lid. Then UDPP (I’m out right now so I’ve been skipping that). A lid color & then blend a darker color into the crease & outwards. Blend 2 colors together. Eyeliner goes next if I’m wearing it. Curl my lashes. 2 coats of mascara on top and bottom & voila!

Angela Avatar

I apply primer/concealer.
I use my 239 or 242 to put es on my lids.
I blend my lid color out.
I use my 226 or my 222 or the 217 to apply my crease color.
I blend every thing out.
Line my eyes.
Apply mascara.

lizzclare Avatar

mac paint pots in bare study, rubenesque or soft ocre as a base as I find UDPP makes my eyes itch like mad then stream ruining it all lol
then i either use a lighter neutral color on my lower lid then a warmer color in the crease gradiating to a more intense color in the corner.
or
I use a bright color, but just one… blues, greens, peaches all over my lid smudged with mac smoulder khol along the lash lines and lashings of black mascara

Mary Thi Avatar

I use one brush to get all the work finished. (sometimes a sponge-tip)
Foundation/concealer/pencil color as base
Pat on lid color.
Small strokes into the crease. Blend everything.
Highlight. Clean the brush between color transitions.
Liner on water line. Set with similar colored shadow.

Stacey Avatar

Depends on the look I’m going for. Most days it’s base, brow highlight, lid colour, crease colours. But if I’m doing smokey I’ll start with my crease first. Always super blended though!

Nicole13 Avatar

I prime my whole lid to brow and then basically work from lid up to brow. Occasionally I start with the crease and then do the lid next and then brown….but only if I’m doing a cut crease.

Maheen Avatar
