What’s your favorite beauty retailer? Share!

Nordstrom’s is probably my favorite! I love shopping Sephora online, but Sephora in-store is overwhelming. I don’t have a Saks/Bloomingdales close enough to enjoy!

In France, we do not have any Nordstrom. And, seeing what you say, I think that all the Sephora shops in the world are the same… But for us, it is the only place we can get Urban Decay, Benefit…

  2. Sarah says:

I don’t really have a favorite retailer cause I live in Belgium and we don’t have a Sephora, … So I always have to buy online and mostly Nordstrom’s don’t send their make-up to Belgium so bad luck for me!

  3. Joanne says:

I love shopping at Nordstrom as well! Many different counters with (most) associates friendly & offering to help.

There’s no Sephora here in Alaska, so I frequently shop with them online. :)

  4. Emm says:

I agree with you Christine, I love Sephora online so much more selection, though in store I like that they have testers. So I would have to say them or Bloomingdales for their MAC/Lush counters.

  5. Nic says:

I’ll say Sephora even though I don’t have one near me. :(

I’d have to agree with you on Nordstrom’s as my favorite beauty retailer. The sales associates and beauty reps (MAC and Trish McEvoy ) are so nice and very helpful. The other SA’s are also very helpful/nice, but TM and MAC are my current favorites. Shopping Nordstrom’s online is easy (and helps with creating your shopping list), but there is nothing like seeing, “feeling”, trying and touching the products. Too bad my Nordies does not carry NARS in-store. If you know exactly what you want, shopping Sephora online is great. I agree that the Sephora in-store can be overwhelming, especially on weekends and during the Holiday season. I love the MAC eye shadows, but being a newbie at make-up, I feel inadequate and somewhat intimidated when shopping in a MAC store. I hate that you need either a Neiman Marcus charge card (which I do not have) or cash to shop in NM’s! One purchase empties my wallet.

My favourite ones are Debenhams and Boots, because they’re the only ones that have loyalty cards. Unfortunately neither of them sell Mac, so for that I have to go to Bentalls or House of Fraser, but I often buy online direct from Mac too. Having said all that, I probably buy most things from eBay and I also found an online shop for Guerlain that is at least 10% cheaper than the Guerlain counters.

    • Michelle says:

Could you please provide me with the name of the Guerlain site that you found to be cheaper? I would love to know it.Thanks!

    Sephora online

Really do not have a decent department store close by :(

  9. Akia says:

yeah, I totally agree that Sephora on store is utterly overwhelming! I always go in there knowing exactly what I want but I always get frazzled! I love Blue Mercury and my CCO is to DIE for! Actually spent $108 in there last night! LOL

    • Michelle says:

      Hi Akia,
What is CCO? I live in California and I’m not familiar with that particular store/internet site….

      • Akia says:

CCO or Cosmetics Company Outlet (or Store) is a store where all Estee Lauder brands (MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Origins, etc) go after they’ve phased out at their respective stores and counters. And all the items are discounted (MAC eyeshadows for $10.25, MAC lipglasses for $10). So when MAC has a limited edition or discontinued item no longer available at the store you may be able to find it at the CCO. For example, I was able to get Deep Blue Green pigment (full size) from the Hello Kitty collection, Gladiola lipstick from the Dame Edna collection last night. They had available: Shadowy Lady Quad from the Cult of Cherry Collection, Studio Sculpt concealer and foundation… even Studio Mist foundation and that’s ancient! lol. There are so many oldies but goodies in that store. I LOVE love love the CCO in Philly… it has EVERYTHING! Even some permanent items like Revealing lipglass and Nocturnelle eyeshadow for $10…

Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique (in Canada)

  11. Karen says:

Definitely Sephora online (the store is insanity, I agree!) and Nordstroms in-store. Both retailers let you take it back if you aren’t satisfied so that does it for me!!

  12. Sans says:

    Sephora all the way!

  13. Vee says:

I think my favourite is Shoppers Drug Mart’s Beauty Boutiques (Canada). They carry a mix of drugstore brands and a mix of mid and high end cosmetics and a good selection of fragrances.

Sephora is a close second, though there’s so many brands I don’t think are worth the $$$.

  14. Christy says:

The Bay since they carry MAC, NARS, Dior, Chanel and Make Up For Ever. They also have a points system that I can redeem for gift cards. Second fave is a tie between Shoppers Drug Mart & Sephora. Sephora has so many brands that no other store stocks. Shoppers usually has bonus points events and good sales.

  15. Joan says:

I love going to Sephora and Bloomingdales :)

  16. Liz says:

    sephora and bluemercury

  17. Michelle says:

I prefer Nordstrom to any other retailer for my cosmetics/skincare purchases. I’ve made a lot of friends there over the years and they never steer me wrong. I love their Chanel and Dior counters!!

  18. Carrie says:

I really prefer to shop online. When I go into Sephora, I’m always tripping over customers and sales associates crammed into that tiny space. I don’t love my local MAC counter either. I’ve never been to Nordstrom’s, but I have enjoyed shopping online there.

  19. glamaryz says:

mmm i dnt have nordstrom ..i do have one sephora but its the one on Jcpenney so its ridiculously small…so mine is Dillards or Ulta

  20. Rebecca says:

Mmmmm, I loathe on-line shopping because I love to touch everything. But I love Sephora – not overwhelming at all for me, the MAC store, and Macy’s – we have a good Macy’s selection. I wish we had a Nordstroms because I bet that would end up my favorite….

  21. vern says:

Ulta… they have more variety from the urban decay to the maybelline from herbal essence to nioxin and alterna… you get both sides of the makeup. hair. and face product. i love it. For my mac Macy,s,

  22. AnGeLwInGz says:

I like to try on products in-store at Sephora, then order them online. I get my Chanel at Nordstrom b/c they don’t sell it at Sephora. Ulta is my fave for less expensive items.

  23. Andrea says:

Holt Renfrew for me!!! Most of the brands I like have counters there!

  24. Dee says:

    Nordstrom is my favorite!!

  25. Mary says:

    I LOVE Sephora!

  26. DonnaN says:

Right now, local is Sephora & MAC. They are building a Nordstroms store at my local mall, and I am familiar with the awesomeness of their beauty department (and the shoes aren’t half-bad either, just sayin’…) I can’t wait for next year!!!

  27. K says:

Sephora, because of their huge selection!

  28. Katie says:

(the standard) Sephora! Love love love that place. I can spend hours in there and still not be bored.

  29. Vness_12 says:

Sephora…hands down. I want to live there LoL.

  30. Sass says:

    Beauty.com

  31. Bridgette says:

Sephora would have to be my favorite. I like shopping Sephora online but I just don’t like it that I dont have access to testers. Other places I like to shop at is CCO, Nordstroms, ULTA, and MAC.

  32. Jamie says:

I would have to say Macy’s only because they have a MAC there. For some reason I like going to the counters a little more than the stores. I feel overly bombarded when I go to the stores. I also really like Sephora but when I walk into the store I almost don’t know where to start or what I should buy because they have SO many things I want. I feel like shopping online is a little bit better for them.
