Wet ‘n’ Wild Enter a New Realm Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Enter a New Realm Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio

Wet ‘n’ Wild Enter a New Realm Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio ($2.99 for 0.17 oz.) is such a visually striking palette! It’s a very classic color combination (generally speaking), but it looks stunning. It’s silver, black, and red. And I really do mean red–it’s not a red masquerading as fuchsia or pinky-red or coppery-red. It looks candy apple red in the pan.

The first shade in the palette is a medium-dark silver with a metallic finish. It’s definitely similar in color to Inglot #448. The color payoff is decent to good, but the texture makes it so it doesn’t come together as well so the appearance is less than smooth (which gives it slightly uneven color payoff).

In the middle, there’s a mostly matte black with brown undertones. It’s not the worst I’ve tried (and Wet ‘n’ Wild has had worse mattes in their palettes), but it’s not stellar. It has a drier texture so the pigmentation suffers; it’s not as opaque or as dense as I’d like. It performs better on the eye when it comes to pigmentation but did find there was slight fading after six hours (even over a primer). Not quite as bad as Wet ‘n’ Wild Fly me to the Moon but not as lovely as Make Up For Ever #4.

The final shade is is an orange-based red with a satiny shimmer-sheen. It has decent color payoff, though not as vibrant swatched as it appears in the pan. Sugarpill Love+ is more intense (though matte). Make Up For Ever #99 is matte, and more intense, while Make Up For Ever #158 is matte and more intense but also darker. Inglot #366 is similar but seems more orange. For $3, it’s a rather impressive red from a drugstore brand when many higher end brands do not have reds in their lines.

The Glossover

For the red alone, I'd still recommend it -- particularly if you've always wanted to try red eyeshadow but know you'd never use it often enough to justify some of the higher end options. The black is the worst performing shade here, while the silver is the best and the red is decent.

Do you happen to know an exact release date on these?
Because I have seen many reviews and advertisements online but I’ve tried most of my local drugstores and I never seem to find them.

  2. Very adventurous, I wouldn’t wear it myself but I’m sure it’d be fab for Halloween!

I love the shades of the eyelid and crease ones, it’s a shame the black is the worst one. Still a great deal though.

Why is it that red is such a rare colour to come across, and why are mattes so hard to make decent? I love mattes the most, but man, can they be tricky.

    • Kathylulu

One of the ingredients that has to be used in red eyeshadows causes allergic reactions for a lot of people, which is why most companies don’t risk making red shadows.

I’ve always wanted to ask this question to you. You rate certain brands like Wet and Wild high, like B+, and sometimes MAC, Inglot, Urban Decay, etc., pricier, get the same grade. In terms of long-lasting, feel of the powder/cream shadows, heck, even richness of color, you compare say, drugstore to brand-name as dupes and sometimes they have the same grade. Are they really -just- as good?

    • The grade means the same no matter the brand or price. So if it’s a B+ here, then that’s the same as a B+ given to MAC or UD. You would have to look at the specific breakdown, e.g. there may be problems in pigmentation but not in texture – to see how they stack up, but the rating system doesn’t take into account price at all.

wow, that red is nice! this trio reminds me of a baked MAC trio I have from a while back I dont even remember the name of atm. But I’ve never found any red (pressed) to top Love+!!!

  7. The red looks pretty similar to Medusa’s Makeup Electro Red eyeshadow…I may have to get this as a less expensive dupe!

  8. Alli

I can definitely see some of my college classmates wearing this to football games (OH-)

  9. Michelle

i think this is a good dupe for the limited edition mac danger zone trio from ’08 (i think it was).

  10. I bought this just for the red and I was pleasantly suprised by the silver! It is rare for drugstore brands to have red so I picked this up before they were sold out.

  11. I almost picked this up today. I wish I had :(

I’ve been trying to hunt down this trio for awhile now. It’s ridiculously hard to get a hold of. It’s already way over priced on ebay too. I wish WnW would do larger runs of their limited edition products, because it is so frustrating trying to find them.

  13. Caroline

oh how i wish wet n wild products were available in Trinidad and Tobago :(

  14. Mandy

i’m not really sure how i got pull off red eyeshadow without looking like a clown

  15. Lumi

Hmm, I haven’t done a red eyeshadow look before, not sure if I can pull it off.

The palette is quite striking at first glance. Great color combo.

I like the silver the most, but I have a lot of silver shadows already. XD

This palette is inspiring me!! Will I grab it? Nah. My BH Cosmetics 120 palette will do just fine.

  17. I have it, but I’m not too fond of it. I prefer the red from the Night Elf palette in last years holiday collection.

  18. Amy

I instantly fell in love with the color combo<3 So nice to see a drugstore brand make a trio like this

  19. Sarah

Thank you so much for this post! I’ve been wanting a red eyeshadow for a while now but REALLY didn’t want to pay a lot for one! <3

  20. Becca

    just looking at it; <3

  21. artemis

i’d wear red eyeshadow everyday haha 😀 but that one isn’t bright enough for me >:] never had red tho but i like the way i look w/ a very bright matte fuchsia shadow 😀

  22. Chloe

Was this the same palette that was released last year during the holidays?

  23. I have danger zone and this. This is a good dupe for those that missed out on danger zone. I liked this silver better. The other one had that chunky stuff in it.

  24. they came out in June or July i think so you pretty much cant get these anymore

  25. This remains me of the Danger Zone (I think thats what it was called) from a Mineralized trio a few years back.

Hi, I love the DReam Weaver collection, a couple of monmths agi they were so hard to find and now basically they are non existent in stores in my area at least. Do you happen to know other than the New Nail Polish Holiday Collection, if Wet N Wild will be releasing any new eyeshadow collections?
