Valentine’s Day Makeup:  Pinks & Purples

I’m just popping in to share with you this quick pink look I was playing around with this morning before I took a shower.  (Yes, I totally will put on a full face of makeup, only to wash it all off right after!)   Sorry if it’s felt like I’ve been a bit MIA this weekend… really trying to put in the full energy and effort to study for my midterms, which has always been a challenge ever since I’ve really started to get into the blog.  ‘Cause trust me, I’d so much rather be writing or preparing posts for you all than reading about bonds and utility theory!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply the light purple pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Da Bling eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bruised Plum eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Lala eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Black Tulip eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Da Bling eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Lust eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Azalea Blossom blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Victorian lipstick first, and then layer Hush, Hush Rose lipglass for a complementing lip.

So springy and pretty! I definitely want to recreate the eyes! I don’t know if I can pull off Victorian lipstick though!

I have a midterm coming up, and let’s just say that my attempts to study this weekend have been complete failures!! Haha.

  8. Natasha

I love this look!!! You look gorgeous!! The Bruised Plum and the Black Tulip are they part of the new Quad? If so I’m gonna have to take a second look at it! Your make up looks fresh and natural with a pop of color. LOL ( that’s the only way I know how to describe it)

  9. LNU

The blush ombre looks stunning! And your lips are always so complimenting!

  10. IZzySA

  11. phuong k

your skin and makeup is gorg! :) I love pinks and purples!

  12. GORGEOUS!!!! I love the colors and the lip combo is to die for! And you are such an inspiration to be able to walk away from the makeup and do homework! I wish I had your strength of will! I’m an animation major, so most of my work is drawing, but I have this senior paper due in 2 days and all I can think about is OTHER things to do besides that! EUGH! I hate papers!!! Lend me some of that determination, will yah? LOL!

  13. pretty! I should be getting my mac haul on monday or tuesday!

  15. I love it!!! pink/purple combos are my fave/ I should’ve worn this today…but instead I tried this look: thanks temptalia for all the new look ideas!

  16. Alexandra

How do you manage to do such a perfect lower lash line ? I mean it’s so clean and perfect.

Please do a video just about this 😉 I’m always amazed by your technique for that.

    • I have some YouTube videos that show me lining the lower lash line, so you can check out those for reference :) A reader commented that I line over my lashes, rather than under them.

  17. Super pretty! I like the surprising splash of blue on your lower lid. That’s probably my favorite part.

  18. Adriana

i’m in love with this look!
you did a great job, specially about the eyes 😀

  19. Jess

pretty!! i loove that lip combo,it makes you look so fresh and awake.

  20. Angela

That tinted moisturizer has really good coverage. I need to see if they have it in darker shades. That lippie is pretty on you.

  21. Ana Cristina

Stunning Christine, I always love your unexpected pop of color on the bottom lashline/waterline.

  22. Adriana

i have a question, maybe a fool question xD
pigments are better than e/s ? or what’s the difference?

  23. Shannon

    Christine, this is LOVELY!!!!! :)

  24. Jessica

This is so beautiful! Which do you think is better to get Ripe Peach or Azalea Blossom blush?

  25. Sabah

Awesome look! do you usually moisturize eyelids before applying paintpots/eye primers?

    • No, I don’t! I just use whatever facial moisturizer all over my face, including my lids, but that’s typically many hours before I get around to applying makeup :)

  26. Keke

Pretty! Pink and Purple are two of my favorite colors. Good luck with midterms :)

  27. Gorgeous look Christine!!! I’m going to try that look sometime soon!

  28. Stephanie

you look very beautiful, you’re skin looks amazing!

  29. Your skin looks AMAZING in these photos! The color makeup is beautiful too, but I just can’t get over the skin! I will have to try that Korres TM!

  30. amy

Very soft and pretty and I am loving Victorian lipstick. I am going to be good and limit myself to spend only $50 for this collection! It is just all the pink lipsticks and glosses distracting me because I have soft spot for them. I am getting the pink/purple crush pigments for sure.

  31. AbbyL

I LOVE this lip on you!! You’re skin looks flawless too!

  32. Crystal

I love the girly colors! They look gorgeous on you!

  33. Christine, do you think you’d ever consider doing the blogging thing as a full-time career instead of going into law? I was just wondering because you’re really good at it and it seems to make you so happy, which is important. Of course, law has that stability factor. I bet you’re one of the lucky hardworking ones who never gets tired and will always be able juggle both! I hope so b/c I’d die if this blog disappeared!

    • Potentially, but it really just depends on what happens 18 months from now… so much time between now and then. Blogging is definitely one of those unstable paths, so we’ll have to see how things work out :)

  34. Hiromi

OMG. As always, you look so PRETTY!! I am soooo getting victorian and Azalea blossom. Now you make me want to buy Hush Hush Rose which was not on my list!

  35. trina

    LOVE, the lips!!!!!!!!

  36. Tiffany

    you look sooo cute!

  37. Jenn

Is the blush you’re using Azalea Blossom or Ripe Peach? Because the directions box says Ripe Peach while products guide lists Azalea Blossom.

By the way, I’m really loving your lip combo, Christine!

  38. izzy

wow, that lipcolor looks REALLY good on you! That’s a hard color to pull off, too. I’m so jealous….

  39. i am so in love with Azalea Blossom Blush Ombre. I was able to get at the launch party. Not only is it a really pretty color, but it is huge! BTW, i really like this look on you. It’s so pretty

  45. Jasmine

I don’t know how you pull off having no eyeliner on your upper lashline. I feel like I always have to have my fluidline on!

  46. Annie

Gorgeous look! I’m such a sucker for pink and purple, haha. Oh, I’m also OBSESSED with the lip combo. Just sayin’. :]

  47. rashmi

pls tell me will it look good on me or not ???

    do reply

    • Thank you, Rashmi!

I think you can rock it, but try to pair it with warmer shades so it doesn’t look too cool on you :)

The gloss would be nice, but probably not a must have!

  48. Helena

    I LOVE IT. Ahh!
I’m with you on applying makeup just to remove it…in fact, that’s all I ever do. I put on a bunch of makeup, take pictures, remove it as best as I can, and fall asleep. I’m a night owl! xD

  49. Norlyn

I’m sooo going to try this – even if it means buying all those products. I love a purple eye look. I just hope I can get it right with my eye shape.
