The Scarlet Season: Dolce & Gabbana Iconic Lipstick

Add D&G’s makeup range to just another luxe item I lust after. Make it completely and wholly unavailable to see in person, and you have one frustrated beauty addict! I was so excited to try out the new line earlier this fall, and I loved the feel of their lipsticks–particularly this lovely shade of orange-based red called Iconic. It’s a creamy, opaque formula with a glossy finish. I love that glossy sheen, because I’m not much of a matte-lips kind of girl, so I always end up adding gloss on top of a lipstick. However, with Iconic, I feel like it’s very wearable on its lonesome, just because it has a fantastic gloss finish.

The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

I literally just got this lipstick in the mail today..and I loooove the color..but the scent is so strong and to me..unpleasant. I got caught up in the Saks F&M sales event that I bought two more lipsticks, yet to arrive..Dahlia and Devil. I think those two are E-bay bound!!

WOW!!! Totally gorgeous color and finish! Must have! Can one get them in Canada?
ALso, what kind of smell are we talking about here? Is it at least a good (vanilla, flowery, minty, sweet) kind of smell as opposed to a bad one?

    • Rachel

It’s a pretty strong powdery floral/rose scent. I mean, I’m super sensitive to smells so probably most people wouldn’t care.

    • Not sure! It’s more of a perfume-y scent… roses maybe? It’s not vanilla or minty to me. I knnow Saks sells them in the U.S.

Pretty, I actually like orange based reds more than blue. I find it more luxe and glamourous.
