I thought I’d share my personal skincare routine, which isn’t much, with everyone. I’m still tweaking it a bit in some areas, and I’m hoping to add a bit to it eventually. I definitely don’t think any of these products will make a departure from the routine, though – that’s for sure!

iconI love makeup remover wipes for easy removal – no fuss, no mess, and it’s so quick to do. I find that these are perfect for those nights when you want to crawl in bed so badly, but remember you can’t sleep in makeup (so, so bad!). Grab one of these and you’ll be able to go to sleep guilt-free knowing you rid your pores of all the day’s dirt and grime. Always use these when I’m wearing super heavy eye makeup – like my all black smokey eye – because that’s just too much to rinse off! I don’t have a brand favorite; I’ll often buy whatever is on sale or even the generic brand. I don’t buy the ones in the container because these keep well in the plastic packaging. Or else just use any air-tight container you have at home!

iconI start and end every day with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser.  It’s absolutely one of my favorite products, and I’ve even turned my boyfriend onto it (only once daily for him, though). I love it for its gentleness, because I have incredibly sensitive eyes, so I don’t like face products that will burn or sting my eyes if even the slightest bit gets into them. It also thoroughly cleanses and makes my face feel clean. It does a decent job of breaking down makeup, but I generally use a makeup removing wipe for heavier makeup days, as well as for heavy eye makeup.

I recently acquired this godsend product, Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion, and it is now my moisturizer of choice before I go to bed (since it doesn’t have SPF, I use a different moisturizer for the morning!). Once daily is perfect, because it leaves my skin leaving smooth and refreshed. I wake up with soft skin and don’t really need anymore moisturizer, actually!

iconOlay Complete is my morning moisturizer because it’s light weight, has SPF (15) in it, and you don’t need to use a lot of it to get good coverage. I’ve had this for several months, and I’m only beginning to notice that I’ve used any, so it definitely lasts you awhile. I’m currently looking to increase my SPF count, but I will probably stick with the Olay family for my facial moisturizing needs for now.

Hey Christine, I was a big fan of makeup remover wipes too – till I read on beauty brains that baby wipes are the same thing for a fraction of the cost!

In fact I think Johnson’s baby wipes do a better job than my old Nivea ones …

hi christine! thanks for letting us know how your skincare routine works, you have lovely skin!

I use cetaphil’s cleanser too.. it’s great! just wondering, do you use both the wipes and cetaphil to take off your makeup in one day? or either one or the other?

    • Hi Kim! I’m happy to share what I can. I use both on days when I wear a lot of makeup – so if I have dark shadows on or really deep lipstick, I will definitely use a wipe first and wash the remainder off with the cleanser.

I find Cetaphil does a good job to take off the majority, even on heavier days, but lately I’ve been doing both when it’s a heavy eye or lip look!

  3. I use those makeup wipes too! I love it! Very soft and gentle on the skin and really removes all my makeup!

  4. That Olay Complete is the shizz. I love that I can pile on a ton of it and it doesn’t leave me feeling greasy.

I was thinking of getting a stronger SPF too and am tempted by Shiseidos (the one in the bottle). It’s SPF 55 (!) and apparently good for sensitive skin.

I’m right there with you Karen! I LOVE Olay Complete. I actually love their whole skincare line!

      • OH! What other stuff have you tried that you like? So far I like Olay complete SFP, the wipes and Micro-Sculpting creme from the Olay Definity line.

I think I have a soft spot for it ’cause my mom used to use the OLD SCHOOL pink stuff when I was a kid, ha!

    Hi Christine,

I’ve always wanted to use facial wipes but never did because of the cost but since you’ve recommended the effectiveness of it vs the bottled ones, will definitely give it a go. And thanks for sharing all your beauty tips. Your blog rocks!!
