NARS Spring 2012 Collection
The Spring 2012 Collection, created by Founder and Creative Director François Nars, stars a mix of bright and playful colors balanced with rich, saturated hues. Nars chose to photograph model Ginta Lapina for the spring campaign, explaining, “Her delicate features and classic beauty made her an ideal fit for a collection that’s at once fresh and fierce.”
To achieve the makeup look in the campaign image, Ginta’s skin was made radiant with Santa Fe Sheer Glow Foundation and set with Eden Loose Powder to create an Immaculate Complexion. Next, Zen Blush was applied to the hollow of the cheek and blended toward the temple for contour; Gaiety Blush was brushed onto the apple of the cheeks for a pop of color.
After prepping with Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, Lhasa Single Eyeshadow was blended onto Ginta’s lids, extending the color to the upper inner corner of the eye. Her brow bone was highlighted with Albatross Highlighting Blush before Dark Rite Soft Touch Shadow Pencil was swiped across the upper lash line. It was further defined with Rue Saint-Honoré Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner; a winged effect was created in the outer corner. The lower lash was lined with the same pencil and gently smudged. Brows were defined with Blondie Single Eyeshadow; lashes were curled, then brushed with two coats of Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara. Lips were lined and filled in with Amazon Lipliner Pencil, then topped with Valparaíso Pure Matte Lipstick and Misbehave Lip Gloss for shine. The look was completed with Écume Nail Polish on the nails.

I just love Nars and his unusual but beautiful colour combinations. This collection looks a great mix of feminine and bold. I cant wait to get it!
The colors are nice, however, some of them seem a bit to dark for spring time.

Impressive color selection. The polish looks pretty and I love the eyeliner on the model.
This is probably the Spring collection for which I'm the most excited. There's so much variation in colours, but it all looks lovely. One thing I've noticed (and this is an issue with the PR photos provided- nothing that you've done Christine) is that the duo looks different in the group shot than it does in the individual. I wish companies would stop providing Photoshop versions of their products for press release...
oh nars, you slay me. the matte lipstick in valparaiso looks divine. christine, just off the top of your head, do you prefer nars foundations over mac's? i'm nc42 and generally haven't budged from mac, but nars' sheer glow foundation in particular looks interesting...
Neither are my preference, sorry! I prefer MUFE or Guerlain.
You should definitely try the Sheer Glow! Shade wise you will be able to find something comparable to NC42 and it will be so much lighter in weight. All the MAC girls in my department have switched over to NARS foundation but they won't tell you that.

Not sure if it's part of your plans for review Christine, but I'd love to know how Gaiety compares to other NARS blushes color wise (I've got Mata Hari and Desire) and whether it's matte or shimmery. I just wanted to say I'd look forward to seeing a review of it. Either way, thanks for all your work on the blog. I really appreciate all you do!

Nordstrom gets the early exclusive on this one, so if you don't have someone you love, I will gladly suggest my favorite! Plus Nordstrom is having NARS Beauty Week the first week of February in honor of it's launch and my Nordstrom is having quite the mega event! M

Francois Nars always makes you work for it! His make up is challenging, but he has a remarkable, very modern aesthetic. As for muted colors? Where? Hot pinks, lavender gray, metals to pop it with? There's a bright raspberry matte lip and a topaz-y gold for girls who can't wear blue bases. It could about all be Schiap Pink lipstick. How are you getting dull?
Waouh what a gorgeous and colourful collection for spring. I think I will purchase the eyeshadows Trio and Mono, the blush and the nail polish, it is 113 € here in France for those 4 products, so it's going to be very bad for my credit card ! Well, this collection is so great I can't resist !
