NARS Mousson Cream Eyeshadow ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a new shade of cream-to-powder eyeshadow from NARS’ Holiday Collection. NARS describes this shade as “[a] shimmering, spicy pine named for the monsoon – natural and unpredictable … [i]t has richness and depth, yet allows for a surprising range of intensity.” They later describe the color as “silver sage.”

Mousson is is an antique gold with a green tarnish and silver sparkle. It’s creamy, dries to a mostly powder finish fairly quickly (but not so fast you don’t have time to work with it), and I’ve found it fairly crease-resistant. I would say it’s much better and doesn’t crease easily when set with a powder base or layered over an eyeshadow base like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. The shade itself is exactly something I’d wear and a color I’d feel compelled to own–you know me and (antique) golds!

NARS’ Cream Eyeshadows aren’t my absolute favorite cream formula to work with (Benefit’s are my current favorite), but I do like it. I just find it does have a slight tendency to crease if you apply too much or you don’t set it with an eyeshadow. For me, I rarely wear cream shadows alone anyway, so it’s not a big deal to use it in conjunction with powder eyeshadow.

Bottom Line: For a fun, sparkly shade of antique gold with a green cast, Mousson might be something you’d like. If you’re not normally a cream eyeshadow fan, while it’s still worth taking a peek at your local NARS’ counter, I’m not sure these will persuade you otherwise at the end of the day.

I don’t really like cream eyeshadows or Nars for that matter, but this is a nice shade. I also like the one on the right!

I love NARS cream shadows, they do not crease on me at all. I actually hit the pan on the shade Decameron. I love how these can be applied so delicately and sheer or layered and opaque without creasing on me and I don’t use a base.

When applied sheer they are too gorgeous and after seeing this swatch, I am going to order this today along with the new a 15 year anniversary palette. Have you tried those yet?

I wish they didn’t crease on me – so not fair! :P It seems like they crease on some, never crease on others… wonder what makes or breaks it.

I haven’t tried the anniversary palettes, though.

Hmmm, maybe it just affects different skin types differently. Although I have combo skin, shadows rarely crease on me. My nose can get shiny but not my lids, but this came with age.

Also when I wear cream shadows I don’t moisturize my lids or use any primers. I just lightly dust some finishing powder first.

THat’s an indeed nice gorgeous color! I am also a fan for antique colors now… I still haven’t tried Nars cream eyeshadow since i’ve asked a SA if they would crease, and she said it would. So i’m still reluctatnt to try it. but they do come in such gorgeous colors. but i would hate to buy it and regret afterwards. Should i risk it? By the way, what’s the color next to mousse? Mekong? It looks like a gorgeous combo right thre!

Can you return it? If you can, I’d say try it and return it if it doesn’t work out.

      It’s Aigle!

It looks gorgeous. I have several nars shadow duos but I don’t have any cream shadows. I may have to get this.

It’s worth checking out – just wish they didn’t crease on me by themselves!

it’s a lot more silvery gold than i would have thought. when i saw the promos for it i thought it would be more green. i do like the color but it’s not something i’d really wear. have you tried the NARS soft touch pencils? i’d like to get a feel of how well they stay put…

Same here, Lorna! It’s slightly green, but I wouldn’t really think to call it a green first. I am currently trying out Aigle now, and I’ll be sure to review when I’m done testing.

These shades are lovely and I would wear them often, but I haven’t venture too much into Nars products yet. I have only tried their lipglosses and blush.

These do crease on some (but others find them totally crease-resistant — go figure!), so I’d make sure you could return if it didn’t work out!

I really love this colour. Well, if I’m to be honest, I love any gold/green shimmery shade. I’m definitely going to be checking this out. It may even go on my birthday wishlist along with like a billion other things. Lol. :-)
