MAC To the Beach Makeup: Sweet & Punchy, Sand & Sun, Firecracker
Who knew that you could combine a lemon-y green and an orange-coral together and get something so beautiful–with ease! Seriously! I do have a tutorial (well, assuming the filming went OK) for this look coming soon as well. I also included a bit about how I applied the cream bronzer to my cheeks (which is totally easy, I swear).
Happy Friday everyone!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Shiseido Lemon Sugar Hydra Eyeshadow (soft lemon base), MAC Sweet & Punchy Eyeshadow (yellowed chartreuse), MAC Firecracker Eyeshadow (orange-coral), MAC Sand & Sun Eyeshadow (matte peach), MAC Femme-fi Eyeshadow (highlighter), MAC Amber Lights Eyeshadow (copper), MAC Float on By Eye Kohl (marine blue), Dior Extase Mascara (black)
- Face: Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (140), Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder (translucent)
- Cheeks: MAC Beach Bronze Cream Bronzer (sheer bronze), MAC Marine Life High Light Powder (coral-red)
- Lips: MAC Thrills Lipstick (copper rose), MAC Flurry of Fun Lipglass (sheer tangerine)
- Brushes: 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 116 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Sweet & Punchy = Sour Lemon; Firecracker = Red Brick; Sand & Sun = Samoa Silk; Femme-fi = Shroom; Float on By = Urban Decay Deviant + Flipside; Beach Bronze = no dupe; Marine Life = NARS Deep Throat; Thrills = La Prairie Rose Bronze; Flurry of Fun = Reflects Transparent Teal + Enchantress
For eyes, start by applying Lemon Sugar eyeshadow as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Sweet & Punchy eyeshadow on the inner half of the lower lid. Then, apply Firecracker eyeshadow on the outer half of the lid with the 239 and bring into crease slightly. Lightly blend Sand & Sun eyeshadow on the middle of the lower lid, overlaying the other two eyeshadows, with the 239. Next, apply Amber Lights eyeshadow into the crease with the 226, lightly blending outwards and upwards to fade to the brow bone. Blend Femme-fi eyeshadow with the crease shade and highlight the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Float on By eyeliner on the lower lash line and Sweet & Punchy eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Extase mascara.
For cheeks, apply Beach Bronze cream bronzer on the apples and upper cheekbones. Then, apply Marine Life powder to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.
For lips, apply Thrills lipstick first, and then layer Flurry of Fun lipglass for a complementing lip.

This is cute! I really like the teal eyeliner with this look. You look really radiant on the picture :) Oh looks like you had something in the inner corner of your eye :p
The dupe for marine life is DEEP THROAT?!?! Man thats the one nars blush i DO own! haha. i was even thinking about getting 2 marine lifes, because they are so pretty, i wouldnt wanna ruin it, but now, maybe i should just buy 1.. and not use it haha /:
awesome!! i had planned on getting these 2 eyeshadows before and now im definitely going to. and when i do, im going to try this look.
love the look! u sold me on the marine life. just wondering how firecracker compares to coral crepe paint pot in terms of color?
I think the Marine Life is a little strong, but I am SO feeling the lips and those lime-green eyes. Great video, too!
I thought I'd commented on this but with finals I'm confused. I love this happy cheery look. I'm glad you let us know that the highlighter in this collection is like Deep Throat cause I just bought deep throat :). I finished student teaching Friday and will have my last paper done hopefully by Sunday night if not tonight so I can start wearing funky eye looks to work again on Monday! I'm so excited to see this and try a version out before the collection hits stores! I love the lips and eyeliner :).
Very beautiful on you Christine but i don't know if i can really wear such colors especially the sweet and punchy.
The look is so pretty!! I just saw the tutorial on Youtube, loved it! You should do more Christine. = )
I really love this look--so bright and tropical. I experimented using Rated R, Red Brick and MUFE 05. Since these colors are close to those in your look, I doubt that I will be purchasing any of the shadows in this collection.
The eyes are amazing, but i have to say that the cheeks kinda clash with the bright eyes. Its too brigh ! It seems to have a very deep coral color going on. Do you think that its because of the cream brozer underneath or does marine life that pigmented ?
Also, I just wanted to point something out that I noticed in my own collection. I have a covergirl eyeshadow quad called tropical fusion that I think contains some pretty good dupes for these eyeshadows, which I use for summer night time looks. They are not exactly the same, ofcourse, but will do the trick if u cant afford mac right now. I will probably get these colors knowing I have these sitting at home because I am psycho, but really that quad is a great alternative...hope that helped someone!
oooooh!!! stop making me even more excited about this collection. Now I have to keep adding things to my wishlist :)
Now that I see the marine life powder on you I can't help but think it look just like nars cactus flower cream blush minus the pretty gold shimmer in the nars one...hmm maybe I dont NEED this after all...but I still wants ;)
I like the eyes... but I think the cheeks have too much color, no? (Sorry, Christine, I don't mean to be mean... it was just an observation. Keep doing what you do. It's very much appreciated!)
Hm, they seemed perfect (to me) in real life - but at the same time, could just be personal taste/preferences, lol! :)
wow that's gorgeous !!! so were u able to purchase this collection ahead of time ? i saw them at MAC when they were unpacking their shipment but they said they can't sell them yet unfortunately. Thought i'd try asking. hehehe
