Look – Gold, Copper, & Black Smoky Eye for New Year’s Eve 2008

Here’s my New Year’s Eve look! :) There are two different lip looks I used with this look — the one I’ll actually be sporting is the lighter, less bold lip, but I figured it was worth a shot to see how a redder lip might look with it, too. You know, for those who want to be more dramatic ;)
The boy and I will be driving up to his family’s house in a little bit, and we’ll spend our NYE hanging out with them. My plans are pretty tame, but I like them that way. Since I don’t drink, partying tends to be less fun for me (seriously, being sober while everyone else is drunk/buzzed and giggling at inane things… not so fun), so staying in for NYE is exactly my speed.

You will need the following…
- Eyes: Blonde’s Gold pigment (golden tan), Goldmine eyeshadow (true gold), Amber Lights eyeshadow (copper), Antiqued eyeshadow (dark coppery brown), Mont Black eyeshadow (black with gold flecks), Rose Blanc eyeshadow (pale white gold), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner (gold), Penultimate Eye Liner (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Chanel Corail Tweed Blush (coral), Redhead MSF (bronzy-red)
- Lips: Benefit Sexy Gold Lipstick (golden shimmer), Prestigious lipgloss (sheer berry-red)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Blonde’s Gold = Tan; Mont Black = Carbon; Rose Blanc = Nylon; Redhead = Springsheen; Prestigious = Star Nova
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Blonde’s Gold pigment all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Goldmine eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Amber Lights eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken the outer lid using Antiqued eyeshadow using the 239. Darken crease with Mont Black eyeshadow using the 239. Sweep Rose Blanc eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner on lower lash line, Penultimate Eye Liner on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Chanel Corail blush using the 129, then highlight with Redhead MSF. Apply Benefit Sexy Gold lipstick to lips, and then top with Prestigious lipglass for color and shine.

I am with you on tame New Year’s Eves… Since I’m not a drinker, I become irritated very easily, lol. But to each his own! I have been flirting with this Honey liner, but can’t bring myself to buy it. I just got the 24/7 liner set (the tame ones), but I really want Baked and Honey!

Very pretty look. I like both lip looks, but I like the lighter one better. I’m wearing Goin Bananas, Fab N Flashy, and Sunset B eyeshadows and a little bit of Pink Pearl pigment with Pomposity lipstick and Miss Dynamite Dazzleglass.

I didn’t get to take pics, ended up getting sick. But today, I did a really cool look. Quietly pigment as a base, Vellum on inner corner and brow bone, Lotusland in middle, Stars and Rockets on outer lid and crease, a little bit of Parfait Amour above that, Frost pigment on lower lashline and sprinkled on top of the purples and Iris Accents Soft Sparkle pencil on lower lashline. Then I had Sweetie lipstick with Frozen Dream and Snowscene on top. I took pics, but they are pretty crappy cause all I have is a webcam.

Happy New Year, Christine! This is one of my most favourite looks you’ve done to date! I am going to do it tonight for New Year’s dinner with the fam. I love the colours together. :) I actually prefer just the first lighter lip colour. Subtle but it goes so well with the shadows.
You’re like me, yay! I don’t drink either and I can’t even go to parties. Watching everyone around me get trashed (which is even more disturbing when most of them are older than me, in their 30s) while I sit there wanting a good conversation just does not mix. I end up bored out of my skull and there’s just no point, for me, to go to parties. If we’re talking a dinner party or pot luck, sure. But not parties where it’s mainly music and drinking (I hate loud music too–another bad mix). They totally bore me. I’m glad someone can relate! :) A lot of times, people give me grief about not liking parties but it’s like, I have better things to do with my time. The last one I went to on Halloween was so awkward because no one around me could hold a conversation; I almost felt like I was at the party by myself.

Yes, law students… I can imagine! ;) Me too, definitely a homebody. I didn’t plan my life that way but so many of my hobbies are on the computer or online (web design being the main one), so I prefer staying home most of the time whether I’m alone or not. I do like a night out, of course, but not at a club, or a bar, or anywhere where there’s heavy drinking or drugs (or worse). So if I’m not enjoying a quiet night at home with the boy or with family, I like keeping my evenings away from that kind of stuff. I LOVE going to shows (theatre/musicals)… tonight I went to Jersey Boys and OMG, awesome way to start off my new year! :D:D It was so amazing.
