Look – Bright, Fiery Sunset
Monday, April 6th, 2009

Remember I told you I attempted a look on Saturday, and how it came out SO similar to the last look I posted? Here it is, LOL! It’s not quite the same; it’s obviously kicked up a few notches in brightness/boldness, but the color scheme is still kind of similar, yeah? Not really a bad thing all around, I just like to vary it up between looks that I post so you don’t all get too bored, LOL!
P.S. – I did use Prep + Prime Line Filler underneath my eyes and along my “smile” wrinkles. I find I like it best in my smile lines, because helps reduce any foundation creasing in that area. Around the eyes is fine, but I just don’t notice that area throughout the day so much, so it’s not such a big deal to correct any issues there!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Gold Dusk pigment (soft gold), Going Bananas eyeshadow (bright yellow), Fab & Flashy eyeshadow (medium orange), Firespot eyeshadow (fiery orange), Coppering eyeshadow (dark red), Antiqued eyeshadow (brown with red), Rose Blanc eyeshadow (soft white gold), Urban Decay Lucky 24/7 Liner (copper penny), Eve Pearl Liquid Liner (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Enough Said blush (bronze), Dior Coral Riviera blush (soft coral)
- Lips: Gentle Simmer slimshine lipstick (soft coral-neutral), Tartlette lipglass (coral-pink)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Gold Dusk = Baselight; Going Bananas = Bright Sunshine; Fab & Flashy = Juiced; Firespot = Amber Lights; Rose Blanc = Nylon; Enough Said = Refined Golden; Gentle Simmer = Sandy B; Tartlette = Lychee Luxe
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Gold Dusk pigment all over the lid as the base. On the inner lid, apply Going Bananas eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Fab & Flashy eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken the outer lid using Firespot eyeshadow using the 239. Darken crease with Coppering eyeshadow using the 226, then overlay the top half of the crease with Antiqued eyeshadow. Sweep Rose Blanc eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Eve Pearl Liquid Liner on upper lash line, Urban Decay Lucky Liner on lower lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Enough Said blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Coral Riviera blush with the 188. Apply Gentle Simmer slimshine lipstick to lips, and then top with Tartlette lipglass for color and shine.

Oooh, lovely! I love bright eyeshadow looks! I recently got a yellow eyeshadow (Chrome Yellow) and bought Antiqued last week (it's such a nice shade), so I think I might try this out!
I've worn Chrome Yellow a few times with greens, blues and peaches. I've used Chrome Yellow on the lid for all three looks and either put UD Peace (bright turquoise) in the crease, overlaying crease - mid-lid with Aquadisiac for a yellow/blue look; Coppering in the crease, overlaying crease-mid-lid with Expensive Pink for a yellow/peach look; and UD Vert (Emerald green) in the crease, overlaying crease-mid-lid with UD Green Goddess (like Mac Steamy I think). Really liked how those looks turned out :o) .
Thanks Christine! THAT look was exactly what I needed to go with my yellow babydoll shirt and the sunny day outside! *bows down*
Oh this is gorgeous though! I love it! Beautiful summery look. I... am now going to have to find a yellow and orange like that.
Hmmm...I'm not so sure about this look. I think the last pic doesn't do it complete justice because it's covering the outer corner of your right eye. Gorgeous colors though. Love the hair :-)
I've been really searching for a great yellow and orange for summer but the ones you list and the substitutes aren't available on mac. The only one I could find was Amber Lights and that is described as a peachy brown. Can you give some other subs?
Very pretty! Do you think the Prep + Prime line filler would be good for an all-over foundation primer? I love the way it feels but I'm just not sure if it's right for me. Oh, and my Cleanse Off Oil came today and I LOVE IT and I'm also falling hard for Soft Ochre! :) Thanks so much for a great website and for taking the time to respond to your readers!
I don't - I think you'd be better off giving the Refined Zone primer a try instead. The Line Filler is nice for specific areas, but I don't think it's so great for all over. It'd also be pretty costly!
you look very youthful in those colours! i know you said the opposite, but i find in the pics the lines around your eyes are invisible with that line filler....i just might have to give it a try...
Thanks, Aradna :) Ohh, I didn't mean they're not lessened - it's just not really an area I notice throughout the day, so I'd probably just say forget it! My smile lines are more bothersome to me :)
Love the look!!!!! i am assuming that most of the eyeshadows are MAC???? also, i saw another reader asked so i will ask the same... what basic eye brushes do u recommend to use for MAC brushes?? thanx
Thanks, Maddie! yes, all MAC. Try this post: http://www.temptalia.com/7-mac-eye-brushes-you-must-have-for-eye-makeup
hey christine i have been visiting your site for a while now and i love it! im kind of a newbie to mac products, a only have 2 or 3 of their products. i have been wanting to check out their brushes but my budget for each brush is 15.00. what ones do you recommend i get?
Hey Celeste! Do you have a total brush budget? It'd be easier for me to tell you what kind of brushes you should buy, as most of the brushes aren't $15! Eco Tools (found at drugstores) is a cheap line of brushes that's pretty good for the quality!
For close-ups - Fuji Finepix E550 digital camera, for full face - Nikon D90, for product photos - Nikon D90.
Hi these colors are so pretty on you.. btw did you layer the blushes? Contour with one.. or highlight with the other?
