Illamasqua: Nail Varnishes

Everybody’s been talking about new UK brand Illamasqua, and for good reason–it’s not just hype. For now, let’s talk about their Nail Varnish (£12.50 for 15ml) — I tried out Phallic, which is a rich, deep dark midnight-blue with silver-blue glitter; and Loella, which is a subtle bubblegum pink with fuchsia-pink shimmer. Both shades went on smoothly and opaque with two medium thick coats. I found the formula to be incredibly easy to work with, and I loved how glittery Phallic was without making the texture feel gritty. There’s gotta be at least ten more colors I want to try now!

I love Phallic. Such an amazing color. Def. a bit envious of the UK ladies (& gents) who get to enjoy this amazing brand. I know i could order online, but I haven’t gotten to the point yet where I can justify the int’l shipping on top of the prices since the brand is a bit expensive. Maybe one day they’ll come across the pond. :)

I do believe they are working on getting over to the states, Nicole ;) I know how you feel about international shipping. I’m such a cheapskate when it comes to shipping – domestic or international!

I want this in black. Richie Nickel says that this polish stays on and doesn’t come off…meaning it lasts long. He was wearing it for a week and barely any cracks. I want it! Too bad I’m not in the UK. I’ll wait it out. :(

It wears well for me, too! I don’t seem to have too many issues with polish cracking or chipping, though. I thank Zoya’s base & top coat for that ;)

Can you wear it without the top and base coat for a week and let us know if chips or not? Thanks!

It’s actually really unhealthy for my nails not to use a base coat :( I find when I have done that, my nails turn to absolute garbage!

They named it phallic?! Oh dear, I see that Nars has competition for the most err.. delightful shade names… haha. But then, I suppose at least its more subtle than something like ‘orgasm’…

They are very pretty shades however, I’m developing a major lemming for this brand!

Wow, these colors are amazing! I love how highly pigmented they are. The phallic is gorgeous, and it definitely has a glamorous touch to it as well. Loella would be a perfect color for the summer picnics along with a pretty sundress! I can’t wait to see what more colors this brand has, thanks for the review!
