Guest Post: Go From Day to Night in Five Minutes

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Sejal wants to help make your holidays a little easier by showing you how to transition your daytime look into a more dramatic evening look in just a few steps. Sejal blogs about beauty over at Kajal Couture!

With the holidays in full swing, I know a lot of us are running from work/school to parties/dinners and have very little time to re-do our makeup. Even during the year, I know there are times when I am running straight from work to happy hour or dinner out and want to freshen up my look and make it more dramatic for the evening, but I usually don’t have time to run home and start my makeup from scratch. So, here’s a daytime appropriate look that can be easily transformed into a evening look in just five minutes flat.

Check out how to go from day to night!

For my daytime eye look, I stayed with neutral colors, because they are appropriate for any type of situation and most of us have neutral colors is our makeup stash. I used Urban Decay Primer Potion as a base, MAC Arena eyeshadow on the lid, MAC Cork eyeshadow in the outer “V” and crease, MAC Black Russian Pearlglide Eyeliner on the upper lash line, and Estee Lauder More Than Mascara on my lashes. For the face, I used MAC Studio Sculpt foundation with MAC Select Moisturecover Concealer. I set my foundation with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish natural. For the cheeks, I added color with MAC Fleur Power blush. I kept lips simple with MAC Creme In Your Coffee lipstick and MAC Love Nectar lustreglass.

To transform the look into evening, all you need to do is add the following: Sketch eyeshadow in outer V and outer crease, Feline Kohl Power pencil on waterline, and Stuck On You Pro Longwear lipcolor onto lips.

I wanted to use minimal products so I wouldn’t have to carry a lot of things with me. Of course, you can always touch up your powder or concealer if necessary and add more blush if you desire. This transformation will only take a few minutes, and then you will be ready for a night out!

gorgeous look but i could barely tell the difference at first! lol

Frankly speaking, I don't see much of a difference.

I don't either. i thought they just darkened the picture or added more contrast..because that's what I see. Her eyes look greener because they increased the saturation a tad as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think this is a great idea... but I'd like to see a little more here.

what a great idea and yet is so simple, just add a more intense v shape, more liner and a deeper shade of lippie. cool. i love the idea.

Thank you Penelope!! There are so many times when we are running late or don't have much time to get ready, so it is nice having a simple way to jazz things up. There are more pics of the eyes on my blog, check it out if you get a chance!

Wonderful idea...you look great!

Aw thanks Megan! =)

Both are great looks. Sejal you look beautiful! I really like that you used minimal products to transform your look.

Thanks Neena!!! Glad you liked it!

Great idea to run this now, since pretty much everyone is going from office to holiday gatherings with zilch down time in between. Sejal, your makeup is really pretty and thank you for keeping the segue into an evening look simple, without a lot of added products.

Yup! I def have those days from running from work to a special event, and have minimal time to dress up my face. Check out my blog to see zoomed in pics of the eye makeup. =)
