What We’re Wearing, Vol. #066

My favorite look was really simple, and it was what I wore to do a final try-on session of wedding dresses earlier this week.  I didn’t remember to grab a quick photo before I left (because I was already running late), unfortunately.  I used Hourglass Suede Eyeshadow Duo on the lid with the lighter shade on the lid and brow bone and the darker shade in the crease–it was a beige/taupe-brown combo with Tarina Tarantino Puppeteer on the lower lash line.  I used Korres Natural on cheeks and layered Bobbi Brown Naked Plum High Shimmer Lipgloss over Guerlain Giny.

Ooh, I really want to try that blush from Korres. Does is stay on the whole day?
This week I wore a purple eyelook, used eyepencils from Rituals and Laura Mercier o create the look. http://www.emmawessels.nl/beauty/rituals-intense-color-eye-pencil-in-amethyst/

Just a simple natural look. MUFE HD Foundation, Smokey Lash in black and Aqua Creme in no. 14 (I believe) and Nars Orgasm lip gloss and Luster blush

How was your session Christine? The new look of the blog looks great and its loading much faster as well!
I wore minimal makeup this week since I was out in the sun a lot! My go to look this week was MAC Brownborder Technakohl on upper lash line and waterline, L’oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara and Maxfactor Gloss cube in Spicy Plum.

I chose Horizon Blush and Rouge Automatique Shine ” Pour Troubler “. Otherwise, I tried Ramatuelle Trio from NARS yesterday ( very pretty ), and the nail polish ” Trouville “. I also tried ” Marie-Galante ” again, not so easy to apply but really gorgeous sheer and intense duo.

@Dominique33 Have you tried placing a strip of transparent tape over the shadows? I tried it, and it seems to help quite a bit. I also use a stiff, flat brush, and “pat” the shades on.

 @xamyx  @Dominique33
No I haven’t, I just apply the eyeshadows directty on my eyelids. With a primer Marie-Galante lasts very good, I expected it to be more pigmented but the result is beautifully sheer and it’s much better for summer in fact. Thanks for the tip !

@Dominique33 The one I bought had some sort of “film” or something on it, and I couldn’t even pick up color at all. The tester at Sephora was so bad, but I took a chance on buying it anyway, as the colors are so gorgeous. I think it has something to do with the binder used on that particular kind of pigment (I had a similar issue with Crystal in UD BoS IV). I like that they are sheer, though, because it makes them much more versitile. What primer are you using?

 @Stephanietps  @Dominique33
Yes Trouville is pretty, sheer too so it’s better with 2 or even 3 layers. I also have May from Chanel, both are great . I bought an OPI well, nice too but not so easy to apply, definitely I prefer Nars or Chanel pigments for nail polishes.

Mac shop & drop eyeshadow quad, naughty sautè lipstick, and full of joy blush, which I’m not feeling it anymore, I don’t think it flatters my nc20-25 skin, you shouldn’t have to make a product work on you so hard.

Oh my god Christine – is your wedding soon? so excited! This combo sounds lovely – I like when crease colours aren’t too dramatic or contrasting sometimes like suede.

^.^!!! I didn’t know you were getting married! .. I don’t pay attention 🙁 but congrats! Are you doing your own makeup, or will you be hiring someone?

But my favorite was when I went to go see one of my favorite bands (behemoth) so I finally got to do a super dark look!
My face I work my Estée Lauder dw, Mac immortal flower, guerlain meteorites cruel gardenia. EYES: bare study paint pot, Mac typographic all over the lid, cork blending it to the crease, and crystal avalanche as a highlight (I thought I could justify a frosty highlight) , Mac feline liner smudged into my lashes and guerlain noir g mascara. Lips were just one simple product: Mac politely pink! It lasted all night … Regardless of pits and general sweatiness lol!

Hope the dress try-outs went well! 🙂
Eyes: Matt Gallagher on the lid, Matt Batali on the corner sweeping into the crease, and Matt Smith on the brow (from theBalm’sMeet Matt(e) Palette), Taraina Tarantino’s Puppeteer on the upper lash line and waterline, Maybelline Stiletto on lashes
Face: Sephora brand tinted moisturizer in Nude Beige, Bobbi Brown Nude Pink blush on cheeks
Lips:  Dior Lip Addict Color Revival lip balm

This week’s favourite look: a 60’s look Eyes – Base of MAC Nude cream colour. MAC da Bling on Inner third of eye and inner bottom lid. Nars South Pacific in the greenish blue shade on the middle third of eye and also blended into lower middle lid and then smoked out to the outside third of eye. Armani Eyes to Kill in Obsidian Black Seaweed in the crease and outer third of lower lid smoked out and blended with the Nars shadow.  Mac Brule highlight.  Lined upper lash line with MAC fluidline and winged out the ends.  Guerlain Noir G Mascra top and bottom. Cheeks:  Tom Ford blusher in Frantic PinkLips:  Tom Ford in Nude Vanilla with a touch of MAC Posh it Up lipgloss Wore my hair in a top bun to complete the 60’s vibe.  Retro and funLove the sounds of your look, Christine..wish you had photos.. or did I miss it somewhere??

My favorite look this week was a navy smokey eye I created for work.  I used MAC Stormwatch on my lids, and I layered L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Midnight Blue and blended it out towards the crease.  In my crease I used Naked and Buck from the Naked pallette.  I used Virgin for my brow highlight.  For eyeliner, I lined my eyes with MAC pigment in Dark Soul and then I used Blacktrack gel eyeliner to create a winged liner.  On my cheeks I used MAC Mocha, and on my lips I used MAC Viva Glam Gaga II with Right Image Cremesheen Lipglass layered over it!

My favourite look this week was also really simple, and very natural compared to my usual routine.
I’ve been wearing just concealer, Bourjeois Healthy Mix is a new favourite of mine, on my face, to lighten up for the summer months, along with powder, either Maybelline Stay Matte or L’Oréal True Match.
On my eyes it’s been Sin by Urban Decay on the lids, with Naked in my crease and lower lashline  and the optional step of adding Darkhorse to my outer corner. Then I’ve been using Dazzlelight by MAC on my inner corners and Brule, also by MAC, under my browbone. Maybelline Falsies mascara (I’ve been skipping my usual gel liner) and voilà!
On my cheeks, a Lancôme blusher in the shade Rose Pêche and on my lips, another new drugstore favourite, the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in the shade Soft Coral (:

Yay for trying on wedding dresses – I’m newly engaged and even though my wedding is still far away, I tried on wedding dresses for the first time today. So fun – especially because there is no pressure at all right now since I’m not planning to buy for a while.
As for favorite look, I did neutral makeup with a bright lip for my law school graduation yesterday, and the photographs came out really well, so I’m really happy about that!

I just got some MakeupGeek shadows for the first time. I’m loving Twilight on the lids and Country Girl in the outer corner and crease for a really soft look – I’m surprised at how reddish it is without being at all hard to wear.
This with Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Foundation and Pot Rouge in Fresh Melon, no powder, concealer as needed, and either Too Faced Better Than False Lashes mascara or Almay’s One Coat Triple Effect. And I’m keeping eyelining super-simple by using Blackout by UD (so easy to wash off, and so black to wear).

Trying on wedding dresses?  How exciting, Christine!  This week, I’ve been relying on Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze all over my lids and into crease as a base, with Too Faced Cocoa Star (from the Natural at Night palette) in the outer corner and crease and my beloved Gosh Metallic Brass liner half the week, and the rest of the days, it’s been Chanel Illusion D’ombre cream shadow in Ebloui with Twinks pressed onto the outer corners and a matte Inglot shadow (can’t recall the #) to highlight. Mac Dollymix on cheeks and Plumful on lips for both looks.

I’ve been on vacation in the tropics this week so have been wearing a few neutral combos from the Naked palette with Tarte Amazonian clay blush in Exposed, Revlon Photoready 3D volume mascara (I find it to be nice and light-feeling on my lashes so nice in this heat and humidity), and a rotation of MAC’s Angel, Girl About Town and Russian Red. I actually prefer the matte finish of Russian Red in this environment because other formulas feel more “slippery” (again when you factor in the heat and humidity).

I don’t put on makeup every day (except lipstick) but when I have, every look over the past 10 days has been some combination of NARS’ Daphne (I’m in love) & Urban Decay’s Loaded (I’m SOOOOOO in love!). Sometimes, with an occasional addition of MUFE purple #9. I think my absolute favorite look was Loaded all over the lid, MUFE #9 on a tiny bit of the inner portion, then Daphne on the V/crease and just a bit blended on the very outer lid, as well as on the lower lash line.  MUFE’s Pink aqua cream (#6) above the crease, UD’s Perversion eyeliner on the top eyelash line, & black mascara.  A very pale face with MUFE 127 foundation, and a faint dash of NARS’ Angelika blush as a highlighter on the cheekbones. Then NARS’ Funny Face lipstick.  I felt so sophisticatedly chic, even when just taking The Hairy German out on a walk, that it’s hard to even consider other eyeshadows for a while.

@Kafka Daphne is the most perfect purple. I can actually remember the Sephora mailer with the collection and leaving early for work the next morning to pick it up, and I *never* leave for work sooner than I have to. I had been searching *years* for that shade; MUFE 92 wasn’t quite there. I know what you mean about UD Loaded-I swatched it today and I really want it, even though I don’t wear greens.

@xamyx  @Kafka  Do you find Daphne easy to work with? I don’t, unless it’s on a cream base or something else. It’s harder for me than NARS eyeshadows usually are but it’s totally worth it for the colour. You nailed it when you said it’s ” the most perfect purple.” It really is! As for UD’s Loaded, you should see what it’s like when applied wet. The colour is amped up by a 1000! The dark green glow comes out  in an unbelievably vibrant and intense way. I don’t know if you have Night Porter, but it’s a great shade to go with that, too.

@Kafka You *are* an enabler! (LOL) I’ve been looking for a green to pair with NP, which is why I swatched Loaded in the first place; I can just imagine it wet. As for Daphne, it is a bit tricky to use, but I like it wet, as a liner, or I blend it with Ondine, All About Eve, or some other shimmery, silky color. As much as I adore the color, I had put it aside for the longest time because I didn’t want to bother with it. Now that I’ve had a bit more time to “play” with my makeup, I’ve been trying it with different things. My next “exploration” is to pair it with Jolie Poupee or Marie-Galante (I really love purples). I worked in a bank for 3 years, so I got out of the habit of wearing “fun” colors, but now I’m trying to break away from neutrals.

@xamyx  @Kafka  Enabler? MOI?!  ;P   I *love* Daphne as a liner but as a full eyelid shadow, it can occasionally get patchy on me if I’m not careful. But I can only imagine how great it would go with Marie-Galante. You know, we go for all the EXACT shades or types of makeup, as I share your passion for purples, dark eyes, matte lipstick and red/sultry lipstick colours. Like you, it’s probably related to my prior work. I was a litigator/trial lawyer for many years, so I was stuck with neutrals, beiges and nudes. I think that’s why I’m so allergic to them so much now. LOL.  Have a super time at Disneyland and let me know if you end up with any of the NARS lipsticks that you swatched!

@Kafka I’ve actually always been into the dark, dramatic looks since I can remember, and I’ve pretty much held more waitressing jobs where I could get by with it, but my last job was in a bank, and I think I just got stuck in a rut. Now I’m in a position (being a stay-at-home mom) to do what I please, but I’ve seemed to have lost my flair (it’s coming back, though). When I do go back to work, though, hopefully it’ll be somewhere not too conservative.

No look! My eyes have been killing me -this is the first time I’ve ever had to deal with allergies and they make my eyes itch like hell. So I’ve just been wearing sunscreen and occasionally foundation but  nothing else 🙁

I’ve had to make some changes in my makeup since I dyed my hair red this week- the dramatic, dark eye looks that used to look good with my almost-black hair, pale skin, and dark  eyes now look too harsh. I’m been experimenting with a softer, more simple smoky eye.
UD naked in crease to blend, theBalm Risque Renee (dark navy blue) all over the lid blended out into the crease, black liner on the inner rims and lashlines (blended out with the same blue). UD Virgin to highlight, lots of mascara.
Lips- Revlon colorburst gloss in orchid. (really pretty mauve-y nude)
