Lancome Doll Lashes Mascara Launches

Lancome Doll Lashes Mascara

This eye-opening new mascara, which was seven years in the making, delivers this doll-lash effect in two ways. First, the cone shaped, triple patented I-conic brush provides an extremely smooth application and defines even the hard-to-reach corner and lower lashes. The bristles offer ultimate separation, making it easy to layer without any clumping. The glide-on formula is enriched with nylon powders that meticulously sculpt and curl each lash for a voluminous, jet-black finish. A combination of hard and soft waxes volumize and curl while shaping polymers lengthen. The result? An instant wide-eye look!

availability: Exclusively at Dillard’s now, nationally in September 2011

Free for Haul Friday, Volume #091

Welcome to Free For Haul Friday!

  • Haul:  Osmotics Cream Extreme x2!  It’s something I fall back on when my skin is SUPER dry and nothing else is working.  It’s pricey, but with Osmotics’ 20% off sale, I had to grab two.
  • Weekend plans:  I’ll be at Cosmoprof in Vegas covering the event!
  • Go-to summer foundation:   Kiehl’s Tinted Moisturizer

This week’s Mellan photo…

THIS is all Mellan wants to do! He’s happy as long as I keep throwing that frisbee.

I haven’t checked a bag in five years or longer (I also have not gone on any trip in excess of a week), so I pack everything in my carry on, which ensures less handling (and better handling when there is) and that nobody is going to steal anything. I cushion makeup bags or palettes between sweaters and pants–anything thick and soft–or else keep it in my shoulder bag.

NYX English Rose HD Grinding Blush

NYX English Rose HD Grinding Blush

NYX English Rose HD Grinding Blush

NYX English Rose HD Grinding Blush ($16.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a pretty-in-pink shade of cotton candy pink, which leans a little blue, and applies sheerly. It can be built to about medium intensity, but it’s not overly pigmented or intense. It is, overall, a lighter shade, and it has a subtle sheen that’s neither frosty or too reflective (so it does not emphasize pores). It is similar to MAC Briar Rose but a touch pinker. It is a little lighter than Illamasqua Chased. I imagine it is similar to MAC Well-Dressed as well.

My favorite part about the HD Grinding Blushes is how smooth and soft they are, without being powdery–they are finely milled and don’t poof! a puff of dust when you go to use them. The softness lends itself to effortless application, because it blends out easily and never looks overdone–but you have to trade-off color payoff for that. I only get around six hours of good wear with this product–by the seventh hour, it’s hardly visible any more.

Please consider reading my original review of NYX HD Grinding Blush for more, in-depth commentary on the packaging.

Quick Eyes with NARS Delphes & Outremer

Quick Eyes with NARS Delphes & Outremer

This is just an eye look, because I had applied this was a wear test I was conducting with several of NARS’ fall products, so I actually did not have anything else on my cheeks/lips at the time!  (In fact, this was a really rushed/hurried look, and I did not intend to post it other than to show the wear of the eyeliner.)  I have included a breakdown and additional photos of the eye look in response to readers’ requests. 🙂

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Smudgeproof all over the lid and above the crease with the 249 to lay down your eyeshadow base.  Apply Delphes (pale green) all over the lid with the 239, and then lightly sweep and diffuse Delphes (gray)  into the crease with the 222.  Darken the crease with Outremer eyeshadow with the 239 held at a horizontal angle, and lightly blend towards the outer corner and lid.  Diffuse the crease edge with Trench eyeshadow using the 217.  Next, apply Via Veneto eyeliner on the lower water line and lower lash line. Coat lashes with Film Noir mascara to finish the look.
