I bought this as a replacement for Colourpop Mess Around, which I loved. The Colourpop liquid lipstick expired very quickly and I wanted a bullet version of the shade that would last longer. Resin is a bit grayer and darker than Mess Around but is close enough to serve the same purpose. The other lipstick I considered was Nyx Stone, but I decided this was a better match. I was hoping I could make this more versatile but sheering it out, but the formula doesn't lend itself to that. You have to go full opaque or it will be patchy. However I have had a good time layering it with various other lipsticks to mute them. I have worn this on its own and it has performed well but my favorite use for it currently is as the dark shade in an ombre nude lip. I apply Resin to the outer thirds of my lips and then a nude like Bobbi Brown Uber Beige in the center, and it has an edgy but wearable effect. The main reason I took a star off is that it will crumble when I reapply, so I have to wipe some of it off and make sure I don't have any dry patches. I recommend using a lip brush. However I think this type of issue comes down to your own genetic makeup, so if you typically have this problem with deep, matte shades then Resin won't be any different. I prefer the MAC formula for deep matte lipsticks. But it isn't bad enough to keep me from wearing this - just make sure to start with smooth lips and you'll have a good time.

This is a great nude lip gloss. I am fair with neutral-cool, muted undertones and it is ideal for me. It does have shimmer, which I usually don't prefer, but for this formula it is very wearable. I don't wear anything under it. I bought one of those enormous fifteen-pack "sets" for my birthday and this is the one I always go for when I want a nude gloss. Brooke is like the exact warm counterpart to this shade. Mudslide is warmer and has no shimmer. Sophia is just like Claire but with less shimmer. Pink champagne is much lighter with no shimmer. Dolly is a mauve so it is darker and less pink, more gray, with less shimmer (if you get the lip creme formula).

This is one of those lip products that travels from my purse to various surfaces around my house because I'm always picking it up and applying. It's a beautiful shade that works well on my muted, neutral-cool skintone and, like always, the Buxom lip gloss formula feels comfortable and stays put all day (unless you take it off while eating). I like this when I want a medium-deep lip but not the full effort of a lipstick because the application is forgiving. It is on the opaque side for a gloss (although not fully opaque) and has no shimmer but lots of shine. It is supposed to be plumping so it has that stinging, cool feeling, which I don't mind but may take some getting used to. I'm marking this sheer because it is a gloss, after all, but as far as glosses go I consider this pigmented.
